Delightful always to be at Te Mata Peak, every time have different views of interest. This was taken in summer time. If you happen to go during early morning when fog settling down, what a beautiful view it is…Heaven 🌫. In To-do list whenever we are in this beautiful town…

Always different lights and views to take stunning pictures from the top. Multiple tracks to go around the peak are well indicated and maintained by the trust. It’s always lovely to enjoy a walk out there , listening to the tui and other birds songs, great place to reconnect with nature and reconnect with yourself.

Te Mata peak offers stunning 365 degree views of Napier landscape. Should definitely be in the top 3 things to do in Napier. Easily accessible for families traveling with young ones - you can drive right up to the viewpoint and there are parking slots for few cars.

In my opinion, it offers the best and the easiest reach urban hilltop view in New Zealand. It is so great to be able to drive up to the top, and you can choose to bike and walk up. Even though you don’t want to go up, you can still enjoy the view from the bottom of the hill (specifically from Craggy Range) It has amazing view and great spot for sunrise and sunset. If you would like to have light on the peak and ridge, you’d better go there in the morning or at latest early afternoon.

Such and amazing spot in New Zealand, 360 degree views of the surrounding area. For any photographers, you can drive your car right to the top with all your gear, take a short walk along a path and be alone with your own magnificent view. Quite a few car parks at the top and more if you have a 4x4 vehicle. Well worth the visit every time we're in Napier!!

Very impressive views on a clear view over the surrounding landscape and the sea. You can drive straight to the top or stop at one of the several parking areas and walk the not to steep path to the peak. Hi

A must do when in the bay. I visit every time I’m here. Stunning views from this outstanding landscape. Great walks and good to have the car access with car park so my mum could get to the top.

Awesome spot to take in the 360 degree panoramic views of the Hawkes Bay. There is a carpark and viewing platform at the summit with fences blocking off the cliffs on the East side of the mountain. There are hiking and mountain bike trails starting at the main gate carpark that lead up to the summit and back down. You can also drive to the summit and park there. Great place to visit and enjoy the views.

Beautiful scenery. A great way to walk off an afternoon of wine tasting! We parked near Peak House and walked the rest of the way up, a combination of on-road and using the tracks. Was a great walk, and enjoyed by our 6 and 7yr olds.

Beautiful lookout atop Hawke's Bay most renowned peak. You can arrive by car and the views from the top are stunning.

Beautiful views of the area and it was amazing watching people parachuting from the cliffs.

A really cool place to visit to watch sunrise on a foggy morning. I was surprised at how many people had walked or run up to the viewing place. We were high above the mist and the breaking of the day was awe inspiring. Yes, the wind was cold but the view was so worth it.

Amazing walk! We merged the purple and yellow track and found it was the perfect intermediate level for us. Only thing to be mindful of is that the track is super slippery when wet.

  • 5/5 Mark A. 3 years ago on Google
Iconic viewpoint to visit, great overview of the valley and surrounding area. Highly recommended to at least visit once if in the area. A pitstop in Havelock North afterwards for brunch would top it off!

Very good lookout point. You can drive up to the peak if you don't want to hike. Fantastic 360 view.

One of the best half day walks we have ever done! Well marked, (we did a combination of the red and blue trails), challenging and fantastic views. We could see Ruapehu on the horizon clearly. Suggested direction is anticlockwise. We parked in the low carpark; you will get much more of a sense of accomplishment if you walk to the top rather than driving up.

Great experience. We parked at the main parking lot, did one of the beautiful tracks at the foot of the mountain, and then drove up to the top. Panoramic views

The road to the top of Te Mata Peak (399Metres high) is a little narrow but fully tar sealed and in very good condition. Plenty of parking at the top and absolutely breathtaking views. Well worth the drive.

Te Mata Peak is absolute must see / hike to attraction off the Hawke’s Bay. If you’re lazy you can drive all the way to the top, but there is a car park at the bottom and it’s a nice not too challenging hike to the top easily accessible with wide variety of difficulty options. Rewarding views when you reach the top are just priceless with stunning sights all the way towards Napier and even Gisborne if you’re lucky

Spectacular views. You can park your car at the visitor's centre and walk or bike up the track. Or drive very carefully to the top. You can see the whole of Hawkes bay on a good day. Absolute must for every visitor!

Must visit location. Incredible 360 degree views of the Hawkes Bay! Great walk from the Te Mata Road end car park or you can drive all the way to the top.

  • 5/5 Sagnik D. 3 years ago on Google
Great spot to be at sunrise as you can spot the sun rising from the Pacific. Literally feels like you are on top of the world. Multiple choices to reach the top, you can hike, ride or drive, as you wish. It's pretty windy on the top, so good to have some warm clothes in hand and a camera definitely

Truely stunning views. Busy over holiday season but can still get a park. Exciting walking and separate mountain bike trails all over the peak and surrounding foothills.

A really nice and relaxing walk, we did the giant circuit loop, took us 2.5 hours with lots of photo opportunities and the redwood forest was a big surprise, but a really nice one. Highly recommended!

  • 4/5 Ken T. 3 years ago on Google
An amazing sunset view. But be warned that it can be very busy and the road right up to the top is very narrow. Parking at the top is also very limited but there is parking about 20mins walk below

  • 5/5 Ramesh K. 3 years ago on Google
Amazing view point. Different feeling, safe & will visit again. Can drive the car all the way up to the view point. Sunset was truly wonderful in summer.
