Beautiful piece of art in the middle of the park! Fun Fact: it's original name was "Coloana recunoștinței fără sfârșit" which means "The never-ending column of gratitude" It is a monument for the fallen soldiers.

Must see monument of the modern sculpture. Amazing setting in the middle of a round park, from where you can see the line formed by this monument, the main church in town, and the portal and the table sculptures by the same famous sculptor Constantin Brancusi, the father of the modern sculpture. Next to the park there is a viewing area donated by some local people to the town, where you could sit and observe this monument commemorating the dead during the World wars.

The tallest creation of Brancusi is located in the center of a small park. Free entrance, free parking, free toilet. The monument is magnificent in its minimalism. Seating on a bench and watching the birds flying around the Endless Column at sunset is a relaxing way to end the day in Targu Jiu.

Constantin Brancusi is an amazing sculptor. Must visit. Not really impressed with the state of Jiu River. Too much plastic floating on it. Plastic beer bottles and a lot of other stuff.

The Endless Column is a masterpiece by Romanian sculpture Constantin Brancusi. It symbolises the endless gratitude to the form heroes slain in World War I. Just under 30 metres tall the monument was dedicated on Oct 27, 1938 and restored in December 2000. The Endless Column is like a timeless song that lifts us into infinity, beyond all suffering and artificial joy. The column forms part of a series of sculptures by the father of modern sculpture Constantin Brancusi, erected in Targu-Jiu between 1937 and 1938. The Table of Silence, The Alley of Stools and the Gate of the Kiss on the Avenue of Heroes are the others.

A column honouring the fallen soldiers of WW1 placed at the concrete pedestal in the middle of a park. Really tall and quite unusually looking symbol. Watch out not to step on the concrete around the column, otherwise a warden with a whistle comes rushing down & tells you off for stepping on it.

Mee dan 45 meter hoog The coal-mining town of Târgu Jiu, along the Jiu River in the foothills of the Carpathians, is an unlikely setting for the breathtakingly minimalist, modern sculpture of internation- ally acclaimed Romanian master Constantin Brâncuşi (1876–1957). Brâncuşi was born near Târgu Jiu and spent his early years here and in nearby Craiova.

The Endless Column is a great place, full of a peaceful charging. It is one of the three ensembles in Tg Jiu town connected to Divinity and Romanian Folklore: the Table of Silence, the Gate of Kiss and the Endless Column. The Table of Silence represents the Last Supper, when Lord Jesus ate His last supper surrounded by his twelve disciples. The Gate of Kiss represents the unity of a man and his wife, the love a couple shares for one another. The Endless Column stands for the endless dedication of Romanian soldiers that fought for their country in World War I. Other art critics say that this Column represents the man's spirit who strives for eternal greatness. The entire ensemble is guarded by police officers and cannot be touched. The most interesting thing that connects the three monuments, is that they are perfectly aligned within a radius of 1,2 km and that between the Gate of Kiss and The Endless Column there is a church that signifies the connection with the Divinity: they all depict the connection between past history (our Lord Jesus), life itself (love within lovers) and the future we all strive for - a better life past our current one.

Sometimes the simplest representation of ideas is the best one. The most striking and obvious representation of infinity and ascendance to the glory of WWI heroes is the Infinity Column, and in this way it is a brilliant work of art. Empty field around it only emphasizes its transcendence.

I recommend the visitors to walk the Calea Eroilor and see the 4 monuments. Even though this is on a field and the others a bit of a walk away, but it's a nice walk.

Worth seeing! An imposing and interesting monument in a park where you can take a walk and relax in the sun. You can approach the monument as close as where grass meets the gravel circle, but don't go any further, it's still a monument and usually there are policemen stationed there, watching it closely. From here, you can walk the entire Path of Heroes, consisting of Infinity Column, the Gate of Kiss and the Table of Silence. All three are worth seeing, with this column being the perfect place to start as there's the best availability of parking spaces in surrounding streets.

Nice park. It's one of our nation's reason of pride - to have the world greatest sculptor, Constantin Brâncuși's masterpieces (some of them) exposed here, in Tg-Jiu in such lovely landscape. You definetly must see them! 10+

  • 5/5 Diana A. 7 months ago on Google
Brancusi wanted to make it 60 m high so as to offer the impression that the sky is being held by the column, much like Atlas in the Greek mythology was bearing the weight of the sky on his shoulders. Absolutely amazing place, so simple and yet so divine. It is so impressive that minimalism speaks so much and there is so much symbolism around Brancusi's work.

  • 5/5 Eduard Costin A. 8 months ago on Google
The column is in the public space, no ticket required. The park was nice and spacious and you can make some beautiful photos or just relax and enjoy the view.

Parcul e ok.
