What a beautiful place to get away from the city. I love the smell of the forest. Free to get in. £10 parking for the day. £3.50 for an hour. Large picnic area outside the visitor centre. Information office was very helpful. Several different trails. We did the easy green trail. Well sign posted and good for families with pushchairs. Dog walking paradise..all owners were very responsible. Lots of different trees. A lake. Really lovely day out. ♥️ Plenty of toilets at the visitor centre. Clean too....everywhere was clean. Café sells coffee with oat and soy milk, but you have to pay 75p more.

What a great place for a day out. We went on a sunny weekend in the school summer holidays so we were expecting it to be packed. We were pleasantly surprised to find it no problem to park. Reasonable parking charges were a bonus! Although the paths right close to the centre were busy, once you got into the trails it was quiet. The Gruffalo trail was an added bonus for my young sons. They just loved it. Plenty of places to play around and bike hire available from right near the visitor centre if you want to do it on two wheels. Fantastic day out.

Have been to Delamere Forest several times over the years, but not been for a while. Wow, what happened at the Visitor Centre? There's this huge car park (£8 apparently! Go by train!) and vast new Visitor Centre. Didn't go in because we had four dogs with us, but I did take a picture for you. The forest is popular. Even on a wet weekend in December, there was plenty of people around. The place is big enough to seek out the less frequented trails. It's pretty flat, and if you're well-wrapped up, and with sensible footwear (paths will be muddy in the wet) you'll be fine. The Forestry Commission like to put up lots of signs to warn you the forest is doing its best to try and kill you (rolling logs and falling trees), but don't let that put you off! It's a great place and well worth a visit.

It’s a huge set of walks for dogs, horses, bikes, safe for everyone. Plenty of things to see and do but most importantly just nice to be out and enjoying the nature and scenery. Luckily we live pretty much on it so are there several times a week with dogs, kids, bikes. Depending where you are in it, they have amenities, loads of kids areas, and wigwam building, and big rope village thing, bike rental, plenty of parking and even an event place for the summer where they good artists coming to play as well.

Really nice forest, car park is good and lots of spaces, it cost us £8 for the day. The cafe is nice with lots of seating, quite pricey but nice quality. The forest itself is really nice, it's really clean and we saw some birds and squirrels. We went on the superworm trail which was brilliant, our kids (age 9 and 4) managed the walking with minimal complaining. There are toilets at the visitor centre but we didn't find any round the forest.

I got the Chester train from Altrincham, only cost me £11 return. Cool place, I think it's more of a walk around place than cycling as it's way too rocky in some sections if you don't have a proper mountain bike, I enjoyed the scenery there. The Lil shop in the car park is very nice, the staff are very polite and the employer has all the safety measures in place for them and us. Ice cream is very tasty, thou cost me £3.80 for a double scope cone. Took some good photos, may print some out for my wall. Still quite a lot of litter around which needs addressing in some areas off the paths. Also saw the climbing area, looked inspiring, I may come with a friend sometime for that. All in all a nice trip and I'd recommend it. Bring a tub of healthy seeds for the birds and squirrels btw

Delamere forest is a beautiful place to take the dogs for a walk. There are many different trails that you can take, most of them lead around in a big circle so you will always end back at the carpark you left. There are many small car parks available around the forest. Many of them are free to use. They have stone and dirt paths to them so I would highly recommend slowing down to not damage your car. There are many dog bins dotted around and some small stop of points with a bench from time to time. It is a lovely relaxing walk and you are able to see some beautiful animals area too. Everyone we bumped into was extremely friendly and this went for all the dogs we met too. Feels lovely to be outdoors for awhile.

Great for a quick walk to stretch the legs or other outdoor activities if you're feeling more energetic or want a full day out, cycling or go ape are great to do as well...

Looks stunning especially during the Christmas period with all the lights on we went for a walk around the forest, loads of routes to take so you can make the walk as long or as little as you want. Dogs enjoyed themselves and so did we great day out.

Great place to walk the dog and there is free car parking if you know where to look. There seems to be something for everyone, bike trails and foot trails.

Excellent place for a walk. Perfect for children, families and also dog friendly. Lovely views, lots of birds and squirrels. Took us around 2.5 hrs to walk around the lake😅. Carpark price was £2=1hr / 4£=up to 3hrs .... There is a nice coffee shop. Prices a bit high in my opinion, so might want to take a picnic with you... It had a nice and clean toilet. Can rent bikes, and there is a Go Ape... The forest is massive, so be aware of were you parked. Can get lost easily.

Brilliantly organised Forest Live concert and drinks weren't extortionate

My favourite forest, loads of walks, bike tracks, running tracks. Loved by doggy owners of all ages, kids have their own walking track with animal stations to find. Two great cafes,. One in the visitor centre lots of space, doggies welcome, and one in a wonderful Victorian railway station built of big sandstone blocks, family owned with a great menu and CAKES TO DIE FOR.

In the main a great place to visit and one we'll do again. The only reason it isn't five stars is that it is very hard to find the bike routes. Thankfully the information point was very helpful - essentially go the opposite direction to the arrows! Once we were on them it was a well maintained and enjoyable ride. Make sure to go to Go Ape!

Would be 5* if the parking wasn’t so expensive. £10 for 3+ hours is extortionate. However the the actual forest is amazing. Been coming for about 7 years and still find somewhere new to explore. Paths are good enough for pushchairs/wheelchairs too, as well as loads of great of the trail walks to explore. They have a lovely cafe with homemade, local foods. Great toilets too. I love the family rooms, with 2 toilets, so handy when you’ve got small kids! Amazing place, just a shame they keep increasing the carpark prices!

We stayed at the campsite next to the forest so it was so easy to go walking round the forest trails on both sides of the road and there is also a go ape centre there as well.

Nice woodland. Expected a bit more from the size of the place in all honesty. We walked with buggy and visited cafe & toilet stop. Cafe was slightly below ok. Have left a review under cafe with details. Would like to see tramper hire here and slightly better signage from the new car park just to point people in the direction of the walks/woodland. We walked the red route but it felt a bit like a highway (we visited in low season end September). Realise e-trikes wouldn’t help this but we did the longest signed route thinking it would take us away from it all a bit but didn’t get anywhere quiet/peaceful as such. Would have liked a signposted longer walk option maybe to feel more of an escape. Children’s play areas (den making) within woodland. Lots of dogs off leads so natural increased risk of poo! The place is big and does the job but not much in way of education, interest or natural beauty.

Lovely place to walk but a real shame the amount of filled dog poo bags laying around and in the bushes

Lovely forest with lots of interesting and interlinking trails. Good signage and waypoint markers.

Some lovely long walks here and such a clean place. There is a car park which is a pay and display, but if you want to park for free, park on the lake side. Car has always been safe here as plenty of people around. My only gripe is cyclists. They race around the forest and don't seem to care who is on the footpaths.

Wonderful place for mountain biking with varied terrain and plenty of space. If they are going to charge £2 for a map they should really provide a better map for the money, it's rather tiny and inadequate.

Spot of wild camping whilst reading my copy of the telegraph as I was refused entry to the private member's club because I want wearing my smoking jacket! Delamere Forest is managed by the forestry commission. Nothing about this photo and review is designed to encourage or approve of wild camping which is illegal across England without the permission of the landowner to first or to promote newspapers of any particular persuasion.

Went in a week day parked at free car parking. Plenty of space to walk around with dogs. Crowded though around gruffalo entrance and visitors centre paths.

Disappointed, it seems that something as natural and innocent as a forest can be subject to blatant commercialisation and profiteering. A massive car park with charges of £8.00 for anything over 2 hours. A visitor centre that isn't needed and Segways whizzing past every few minutes. Why can't they walk? A wonderful forest being needlessly exploited by human greed!

Great area to go to to enjoy the outdoors. Love the new buildings with so much more catering places. All very well designed and planned. Pity about the paid parking. I would have thought that the new venues would pay for themselves.
