Despite
the
sad
story
of
how
the
park
was
named,
this
is
a
wonderful
area
and
a
great
park.
Nestled
in
the
foothills
of
the
Appalachians,
there
are
many
trails,
pavilions,
shelters,
picnic
tables
&
grills,
and
lots
of
interesting
information
about
the
building
of
the
park
by
the
CCC
in
the
'30s.
There
are
2
campgrounds,
Camp
Burson,
which
is
a
little
larger,
and
Creekside,
where
we
were,
#17.
We
visited
at
the
end
of
April,
2023.
All
the
sites
are
pretty
flat
and
easily
accessible,
although
there
are
only
a
few
scattered
trees
for
privacy
and
shade.
The
bathhouse
is
pretty
new,
very
clean
and
nice.
Site's
#16
&
#19
would
be
our
favorites,
raised
up
a
little
and
tucked
into
bends
in
the
large
creek.
Excellent
trails,
Molly's
Knob
is
well
marked
although
a
little
more
strenuous
than
I'd
hoped--but
it
was
worth
it!
Great
park!
