Decided on a small hike from Allison park using the long path north to dyckman hill trail to Englewood picnic area. Then took shore trail to Ross dock picnic area. Had a lovely little lunch. Then took carpenter trail back up, and then back to long path back to Allison park. Total 2 hours. Got to see waterfalls on the way and amazing views of the Hudson. Although there were literally hundreds of dead fish rotting in the water along the shore trail, besides that it was beautiful. Watch out for poison oak and ivy on the trail;it seems not too well maintained. And there are a lot of bees you will cross, but just be cool! Also, at one point we saw a pontoon with a patio umbrella on the water. #liveyourbestlife #🤣

Allison park has bathrooms and benches for taking a break. The view was nice. It could be hot, but there were some shades.

Great view of the George Washington Bridge & Hudson River. Small park with walking paths & benches. I enjoy visiting for 15-60 minutes.

There were plenty of free parking available at Allison Park when we visited on a Thursday. We hiked south and turned around after reaching the George Washington Bridge, a round trip of about 3 miles. We only encountered a handful of people since it was a weekday. The trail was wooded, flat and easy. However, it was right by the Henry Hudson Drive with loud traffic noise the whole way. The view of the Bridge was nice. But we were looking for some peace and quiet. We abandoned our plan to hike north after getting back to Allison Park.

We unexpectedly discovered this park while waiting for my doctor to return to the office. It is a small park with few people, especially on the Saturday we visited. We enjoyed a beautiful view of the other side of New York and were pleasantly surprised to spot deer in the park. We believe it would be a great location to host an outdoor birthday party for those who prefer a more secluded environment, away from large crowds.

Really small rest stop they call a park. Not much to do rather then sit in the car or take a short walk.

This is one of the best places to just sit and relax. All you need is a sandwich or other snack. There is a working water fountain and on site restrooms. Not to mention a great view of the Hudson River and upper Washington Heights in Manhattan, NYC. When visiting.. don't forget to look for the Little Red Lighthouse under the Great Grey Bridge.

Allison Park is wonderful! It's small, but many fewer people visit than other Palisades parks so it feels splendidly isolated. The views are spectacular and the picnic tables are nice. Highly recommended!

Small park overlooking GWB. Concrete path for taking a stroll. Sufficient parking available.

  • 3/5 Tifane R. 3 years ago on Google
Nice view of the GWB but sadly this park has been neglected for quite some time. So many plants, shrubs and bushes are overgrown and disheveled. There was even a bench that had sunk into the ground which looks like a potential dangerous situation. The bathrooms don't open until May, according to the sign posted.

Rather funny that I first spied this park, not from the Long Path but from 300 feet below on my paddle board. The little stone cabin in the southeast corner is visible from the river, the only part visible from there really and I wondered then (a few years ago) 'who owns that place'. Allison has an interesting history, starting (for me anyway) with his co-ownership of the Palisades Mountain House, a grand 500-guest hotel that was opened in 1872 but burned to the ground in 1884 (no loss of life), the site of which was just a half mile or so north (see my review of St. Michael's Villa for more on that). I visited here for the first time a couple weekends ago while hiking the Long Path from Fort Lee/GW. A pretty place, though the bathrooms are closed for the season, which does nothing for hikers (though I guess it does not matter for those with a car who seem to be the main visitors).

👍👍 What a great place to visit for picnic 🧺 or trailing. The views of the city SIMPLY GORGEOUS! and never gets old. This is a hidden gem. So quiet. Not crowded at all. On the weekends there’s a charge of 10 dollars for cars. I have visited it twice already since I discover it!

👍 Really nice place to visit! There's a narrow hiking trail, a small playground for kids, and lots of parking. Picnic tables are available and fishing is allowed here as far as I know. There's a really nice view of the city and a sandy beach area.
