Overall okay, but does not meet the Marriott standard. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful and we didn't have any major complaints as far as cleanliness. However, this location is definitely in need of some upgrades. Most of the furniture in the room has a lot of wear and tear, the hinges on the cabinets were broken, and when we got to our room the AC had been set on 60 degrees! The carpet was coming up in most of the hallways and coffee was only available during breakfast hours (which wasn't the case at other locations). Not to mention the room was missing its coffee pot and did not have any silverware. It's a great location with it's proximity to Metlife stadium and NY, however when you pay to stay at a Residence Inn you expect a certain quality and this did not meet that.

No I don't have you confused, I did review under another name, precisely so you don't look me up, because that's what you like to do, for what purpose, to get back at your customers! A step ahead of you. You know very well this hotel is horrible, you should be ashamed!! How long your pool hasn't been used? Years. How about the side door, it doesn't even have a knob, a huge hole. I should of taken pictures. So don't act like you don't know know. All the good reviews here is a LIE!! They probably had their own staff write them, to get customers. This place is horrible. It's furniture, kitchen, and bedroom bed banged up, and old. Don't be fooled by the outside looks, inside it's beat up. I rather sleep outside. They have ant's in the rooms. All appliances are old, and have been used as a punching bag. PLEASE DON'T STAY HERE!! YOU WILL REGRET IT!! It's disgusting here. Stay in another hotel near this one. No one here knows what they're doing, and hard to understand, when they speak. Place needs to be rebuilt again, that's how nasty inside is. Like I said it's much nicer to sleep outside. EVERYTHING IS OLD INSIDE, and BROKEN. You give a bad name, to the other Residence Inn, SHAME ON YOU!!!

Awful service at the front desk and the room was filthy. I felt gross staying here.... there are so many hotels near by. Choose any other hotel besides this one. Even the side door is missing a door knob... you can tell its just very run down.

After several stays here in 2023, I can safely say this has become my go-to hotel when visiting the NYC area. Coming from the south (Maryland/DC area), the location is perfect to park the car hassle-free and cost-free without driving through the heart of NYC but still being close enough to catch fast, frequent buses to the city (NJ Transit 163/164) right in front of the hotel. It's also super close to American Dream, Harmon Meadow, Jersey City, and other areas with tons to see, eat, and do. I have enjoyed the layout of every room I've stayed in at this hotel and especially love the availability of 1- and 2-bedroom suites at a comparable price point to other hotels that only offer studios/standard rooms. The breakfast is usually pretty well stocked right up until the end of service, and the choices are pretty standard but nothing extraordinary. I do wish they had oatmeal actually pre-made instead of just putting the packets out (it never quite cooks as well just by adding hot water to the packets). Nonetheless, it's a pretty decent free breakfast and there's usually no problem getting a table even when it's busy, so those are definite plus points. Lastly, I have to give a huge shout out to Alexis at the front desk - she was there both of the last couple times I've checked in here, and she went out of her way to meet our extraordinary demands at every step of the way. She's another huge reason this has become my go-to hotel near NYC.

Location is eh. It is down the street from MetLife and American Dream. But is that really worth it? No. The traffic can be so bad, it took us 30 min to move 3 miles. Not to mention the noise up and down the hallways?? It’s a hotel not a frat house. The shower temps are messed up, the lights stopped working by the beds headboard. The light cover in the kitchen literally fell off the ceiling when we got into the room. I might as well have stayed in a hostel. This hotel used to have 4.5 stars a few years back….clearly it’s gotten worse. Yikes.

Pool is closed indefinitely! Weights are missing in the gym! TVs in my room and lounge have a blue tint! Doors close with a loud slam! Parking lot is awkwardly shaped with a short one-way section. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean. Many washers and dryers that work. Hot breakfast has scrambled eggs, sausage, and pancakes or waffles along with the usual accompaniments. TV in the room is on a swivel to swivel towards the couch, desk, table, sink, or bed.

Good location if you are going to American Dream. Unfortunately when I checked in the room we were given was dirty and not cleaned. They did fix it immediately and move ua. They did promise some extra points but that never materialized

They clean your room every other day due to COVID-19. However, they give you clean towels and sheet per your request. I was very unhappy about that when checking out. Andrea at the reception is a nice representative of the hotel who was helpful to us. Had she not compensated the inconvenience for us, I would be rating the hotel lower than this. But I think their customer service is excellent. So they deserve a 4-star review.

I stay at Marriotts about 75 nights a year and this is one of the worst. Facilities falling apart and while the people working there are trying to be helpful and are very pleasant they can not accommodate any simple or basic requests that any other Marriott does very simply. It’s convenient location for me but I don’t think it’s worth the convenience anymore

Stayed at the hotel for one day. I will say that this is a really good hotel. Room is clean, staff is friendly, security is also good. Upon check-in, they provided a room one level higher at the same cost, I do not exclude that this is especially for guests who are with them for the first time (but it's still nice). Restaurant prices are slightly above average. Outcome. Price and quality are great 👍

I have earned my Platinum Elite status by maintaining loyalty to the Marriott brand for many years. I value that status and the benefits that are earned from it are very important to me. The staff at the Marriott hotels that I have stayed in also value and respect the Platinum Elite status and its privileges. That is not the case with Andrea Sacoto at the Residence Inn East Rutherford location. Andrea minimized the Platinum Elite status by making comparisons to the Ambassador Elite status of her apparently preferred guests. And also felt compelled to mention that there are guests that pay full price for the room type that was requested for upgrade; In an attempt to justify her attempts to deprive us of the benefits earned and that were being requested. She also deliberately tried to sabotage the upgrade request by routing us to Marriott customer care. And falsely advised that all room upgrade requests have to be made through them; Even after I pushed back and explained that no Marriott staff member has ever advised us to do the same. Yet, I entertained what was advised, called customer care, and was told there is no such requirement. In fact, customer care advised that only the hotel can grant the upgrade as I understood it. Andrea rendered the stay into absolute misery. She is arrogant, has delusions of grandeur, apparently has personal issues that she brings to the job to then project it onto guests, and is absolutely unqualified for the hospitality business. I checked out of the hotel 12 hours ago from the time this was written and we are still infuriated by the experience at the Residence Inn East Rutherford. I made attempts to reach out to the the General Manager, Nimmi Kaur about the matter. But, those attempts failed. The situation was apparently not important enough for a follow up. I intend on pursuing all possible avenues to ensure that Andrea is held accountable for this outrageousness that caused me profound stress.

This last visit was our second stay here. It's a beautiful hotel with pristine rooms, and would deserve a 5-star rating were it not for the issues we suffered. We love it here, really. Sadly, our most recent stay was marred by a lack of hot water and, at times, a lack of all water. Engineers came and went from our suite both on our first night and the first full day there. The problem was not resolved up to the time of departure after our second night's stay. Apparently, it was a very strange issue that they had a hard time figuring out. The staff did try, but were clearly suffering from issues themselves; it was all very unfortunate. Next time we're in the area, however, we WILL be back, and we are confident that our stay will be filled with plenty of hot water next time! 🙂

The staff was great. Attentive and helpful. The rooms are beautifully designed for sleeping and working remotely. The morning complimentary breakfast was fantastic. Eggs, sausage, turkey patties, and these yummy egg muffins. Salsa and hot sauce is availalbe. There is also fruit, oatmeal, and fixings for the top of the oatmeal. The location is great to easily get to Manhattan.

Encounters with the Assistant manager were horrific. Even with platinum elite status, her guests are left feeling miserable instead of happy and welcomed. Of all the hotel brands, Marriott is my favorite. Andrea Sacoto has the potential of changing that in just one stay! She should be fired.

Brittney and Alexis were great! Really enjoyed out stay at The Residence Inn. Look forward to going back! 1 thing I recommend, is coffee in the lounge area 24hrs and maybe some fruit.

The Swimming Pool It Being Close For The Past 2yr Wish I didn't Get Notified About it. If you have children and you want to enjoy the hotel this is not the place, but if you do not care about having a Swimming pool then you good to go!!

Hotel was very convenient to our visit to Dream world. Hotel room was nice and clean. Had our own fidge with ice maker, microwave. It truly served our purpose for a 1 night stay. My only suggestion is to have more than 1 pod for dish washer and some dish detergent even if it's a small bottle.

Room was really quiet and clean. Full size fridge and freezer. Can’t ask for anything else after a concert. Elevators and hallway a bit old.

Not the greatest place came for the first time for a staycation and it will be my last sadly. Not to friendly stuff. Need an upgrade for sure. Breakfast was ok but cold.we came mainly for the pool and was told it was cold because an intoxicated person did have an accident in it and needed to be cleaned and would be out off service all now. So we went out only to find out the pool was reopened. Not happy at all with this place. Wil never ever come back. This was a learning experience sometimes it pays to pay a little extra for good service. Please make sure to always ame questions because you decide to stay somewhere.

Half the parking lot was blocked off so that some NY Giant rookies could park closer. What an insult. These are young athletes given preferential treatment meanwhile a 59 year old business traveler who’s been a loyal Marriott customer for years (Platinum Elite status) gets to hump his gear from the farthest and darkest corner of the parking lot. Way to show appreciation for my loyalty. Never again at this location.

Very poor communication. We were traveling with our kids and grandkids. A 3 day stay over Easter weekend. I called the front desk a week ahead of time asking for either adjoining or side by side rooms. Was assured we would have them. Called again 3 days prior. Same. Called the morning of our afternoon arrival was told that the rooms were not together but she was rearranging so that we had side by side rooms on the 1st floor. Arrived and at check in was informed that rooms were on the first floor but on opposite ends of the hotel!! 🤬 After much controversy we had to settle for rooms about 15 rooms apart on the 5th floor. Rooms were “okay”. Worn and tattered carpet with frayed threads at edges. Comfy beds. Ventilation blows right on the beds so we turned it off at bedtime.

I had a fantastic stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott East Rutherford Meadowlands. The hotel staff was welcoming, the rooms were modern and spacious, and the convenient location made it easy to explore nearby attractions like the American Dream. The complimentary breakfast, well-equipped fitness center, and indoor pool added to the overall great experience. The exceptional service provided by the staff was a standout. Highly recommended!

We hav stayed here a handful of times over the last four years or so. Most recently we utilized this location to host the guest for our daughters wedding 20 plus rooms and not a single issue! The location has under gone major renovations since our last stay but even prior to this stay we came back because service is always great, the kitchens make travel so much easier and never had an issue with cleanliness, noise or safety! We will be back

I went to speak with someone regarding a possible three to six month stay at the E. Rutherford/Rutherford, NJ location. Immediately I was met with the "deer in the headlight" look by the front desk clerk, who then needed to go fetch the "saleswoman". I was then, after having been asked whether my stay was personal or business and whether or not I had a "corporate card" was told "the new program is being redefined towards corporate stays only"...mind you, I DID NOT SEE ANYTHING AT ALL ON THE WEBSITE indicating this was their "new policy". I would NOT HAVE wasted my time making the trip I had seen this new policy, which seems to me a discriminatory and lacks inclusivity. The saleswoman took down my information informing me she would have to "speak" with someone and "get back" to me the following day (Tuesday) by the close of business. It is now 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday and I am still waiting for a phone call. Lack of courtesy, lack of respect. Unacceptable. All about greed, although my money, last time I checked was green...

Residence Inn by Marriott East Rutherford Meadowlands in East Rutherford NJ offers great amenities and comfortable accommodations. The hotel rooms are spacious and well-appointed, with modern furnishings and amenities. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the hotel offers a variety of on-site amenities such as a fitness center, pool, and breakfast buffet. The location is convenient and close to the meadowlands sports complex, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the service is great.

When we stayed we went to check in. They sent us to a room where another person was inside sleeping. The man rushed off and security ended up looking up and down the building. They gave us a new room and then gave us a couple bags of chips for the inconvenience. Wouldn't recommend

Super clean, amazing breakfast burritos, and on point staff. I've been traveling a lot recently and this is the best place I've stayed in awhile.

First time staying here, very nice and clean rooms, just starting to show some wear here and there, but otherwise well maintained. Staff was very friendly and courteous.

The rooms are perfect! I was unhappy with the pool not being open, even after 2 years. The bed/mattress and pillows are horrible. I am sure I will have back problems for a week.

  • 5/5 Francine B. 1 year ago on Google
The pool not being open due to Renovations, and me not being given the information until I arrived was a bit of a bummer, because there were at 5 more hotels within mins I could have chosen and my granddaughter really wanted to swim. There was also no price adjustment for our stay. Another note... many of the food items are no more: no waffle maker, no two different types of meat to choose from, no hash browns, no eggs. No more M-F Meet & Greet food and drinks. These were all some of the things that made Residence Inn stand out from the other hotels. Especially, when traveling with children & the cost on average about $150 per night. Other than that the visit was okay.

This Residence Inn needs a major facelift! The carpets are completely worn out, rippling in the halls and ripping in the rooms. The bathrooms are dingy and the hot water never works! The granite countertops in the kitchen were sloping and held up by screws. The whole hotel smells of mold or marijuana. There are serious leaking problems, as seen with water damage on ceilings and curtains. The Kleenex boxes were damp, and when we asked for replacements, they were also wet. The pool is empty and the gym is extremely small. There is a basketball court outside, but forget using it because you’ll get eaten alive by mosquitoes! My kids couldn’t even go outside it was so bad. Definitely disappointing when the standard of Marriott use to be so good.

We chose this due to its proximity to NYC since there is a bus stop within a 5 min walk from the lobby. Great American style breakfast with spacious suites and a fully stocked kitchen with pots pans and utensils. On site washers/dryers and ATM machines.

Our room was fantastic. It was clean and well kept. Everything worked as it should and the price was good. They had an extra sheet set already in the closet to make the pull out into a bed.

  • 1/5 A A. 1 year ago on Google
Rooms were wide but the washing basins were clogging. Breakfast food options were very limited. The pool was closed so kids did not enjoy and they say this is till the end of the year for renovation. They always let you go to reception for any request as there is no staff! I do not know how they operate a Marriott hotel like this! Couple of employees were short tempered and with all of that the hotel is making us pay premium prices. I would not recommend staying here.

  • 2/5 Kavita R. 1 year ago on Google
The only positive of staying here is it’s proximity to the city and having a bus stop right across the street to get a bus to Manhattan. I guess being so close to city, a hotel doesn’t really need to make an effort to retain any of its guests and get away with offering the bare minimum or not even. The rooms are outdated, smelly and things chipped and peeling off. The breakfast isn’t a typical Residence inn breakfast. Basic cereal, terrible looking eggs and sausage, packaged waffles and some toast/ muffin/ bagel. The kind of breakfast you find in a 1 star. Busy weekend/ full house is not an excuse to provide sub standard service. Don’t charge premium/ standard rates if you can’t provide standard service. Marriott should do a better job of auditing and properly categorizing/ branding it’s properties. Highly disappointed.
