👍 The Hermitage of Secrets was built by the Carmelites who settled in the Town of San Ángel to pray and make "Spiritual Collations" which was to debate religious and philosophical topics. It is a hermitage located on Secret Street and which is mentioned as being built in 1620 under the tutelage of the Carmelite friar Andrés de San Miguel. Its name comes from the acoustic phenomenon that occurs when speaking at one of its angles against the wall. When you speak very quietly in this space, you can hear perfectly what was said in the diametrically opposite angle, without people standing anywhere else in the place being able to hear anything, so the friars took advantage of this particularity of the hermitage to break his vow of silence. Although you can see the hermitage perfectly, the place is fenced to prevent vandalism.

(Translated by Google) It is a great place to be cared for and valued in addition to the fact that the construction is beautiful and you can talk from corner to corner without those in the center being able to listen. Or that is what the legend of the chamber of secrets tells. (Original) Es un gran sitio para ser cuidado y valorado además de que la construcción es preciosa y se puede hablar de esquina a esquina sin que los que estén en el centro logren escuchar. O eso es lo que cuenta la leyenda de la camara del secreto.

How beautiful the neighborhood of Chimalistac 🤩, it is an old town with a lot of charm in the south of the city, super green 💚 and flowery 💐🌺🪻, with cobblestone streets, very old buildings, highlighting the large wooden doors with wrought iron fittings, stone, quarry, with wooden beams, niches; There are divine horizontal houses and condominiums, super narrow sidewalks, meditation hermitages..., I marvel at the history of the Hermitage of the Secret; there are ancient sources; stone bridges, which cross Av. Paseo del Río which makes up a beautiful median, I suppose a river used to pass through there 😁; I could imagine ancient times where horse-drawn carriages passed by and how it was populated by the Spanish conquistadors of that time... I marvel at how the climate changes, the energy changes, there is an atmosphere of peace, just a few steps from Insurgentes Sur... as if I entered another dimension of time and space... and I only walked one path..., You can access it at the La Bombilla and Dr. Gálvez metrobus, on the Coyoacan side, in front of San Ángel.

Very beautiful place, which although it is located in the middle of the residential area is quite cozy. The history of this hermitage is very interesting and was part of the old grounds of the orchard of the Convent of Discalced Carmelites of San Ángel.

Its location in the middle of houses and the type of atmosphere that is breathed gives it a unique touch.

I was in a similar one, in the former convent of the Desert of the Lions, long before the pandemic, the one here, I don't know if they are opening it Inside, a person is placed at one end, and at the end opposite the corner, another, and one can "chat" in a very low voice, and, it is heard very clearly, there are about 4 meters between both people. Our teacher says, what is WhatsApp, from the 17th century

It is very beautiful and very preserved, if it were not closed we would not see it as beautiful, the neighborhood is a place to go and wander around

The day before my visit it had rained a lot and many puddles of water that were made on the beautiful cobblestone streets that surround the place reflected the sun's rays very beautifully, it seemed like a dream. How it transported me to a provincial place.

(Translated by Google) A Hermitage to meditate, speak in a low voice and observe the surroundings. In addition to being able to tell secrets against corners of the Hermitage, without anyone else listening. Too bad it is not open continuously. (Original) Una Ermita para poder meditar, hablar en voz baja y observar el entorno. Además de poder decir secretos en contra esquinas de la Ermita, sin que nadie más escuché. Lastima que no está abierto continuamente.
