Two visits now. No snakes. Never "wore boots or carried serum". Great hiking, mountain biking. Great family location! This place is very clean with beautiful rooms and a gorgeous view from the restaurant. Veggie food is delicious. Owner (Elodine) is over-the-top hospitable often taking time to sit for long evening chats on the beautiful restaurant veranda overlooking the lake. Horse rides are a great experience for young riders or first-timers such as me. I personally have visited twice, once with my family of 5 including a 5 year old. It's a great environment for kids with the horses being very gentle and friendly even with small children. I biked around the lake twice. Hiked around the lake once. My family of five took a hike to the crater rim as suggested by Elodine. Absolutely worth the work! Never saw a snake or wore boots. Just saying.

A wonderful and even more wonderful place to relax. There are rooms for sleeping and great food and there are also horses for riding. The treatment by the owner of the place is very good. Trust me, it is a very wonderful place for me and it will be wonderful for you too. Try it.

Beautiful ranch in the middle of nature located very close Lake Bosomtwe. Great place to escape from the hectic city of Kumasi for a couple of days. You can go swimming in the lake or explore the villages and the rainforest on foot or during a horse-riding trip organized by the ranch. They serve healthy and tasty food and a variety of drinks. Highly recommend this place!

This is a fantastic spot to relax and read a few books. The ranch is serene and the people who run this place are very kind. The food (vegetarian stew) was lovely and a nice break from the normal range of Ghanaian food. The rooms themselves are very nice with a large ceiling fan and en suite bathroom. Towels and soap are included. I strongly recommend visiting!!

Super amazing ranch has an incredible view of the lake. Its peaceful and relaxing. This place may be different from any other place you might have stay. Everything here is sustainable. I enjoyed the food! The breakfast was good and I recommend you try the hibiscus tea! I rode a horse for the first time and it was such an amazing experience for me and also for my friends. I fell in love with the horse Alpha. Our host was super friendly and gave us enough information on the things we wanted to do even before our arrival. She did get us someone to take us hiking and that was also a great highlight of our stay. I’m looking forward to visit more so I can learn more about horses. Such a wonderful experience! NB. We did not see any snakes in the premises. Even though it would have been nice for us to see. I wonder why people think seeing a green snake in a place nestled in the natural vegetation is a bad thing. Green snakes a mostly non venomous and non aggressive and will usually flee when threatened. Snakes are a common thing in every forest area not just in Africa but the world over. The Green Ranch is not a luxury hotel! If you are very used to the normal luxuries of city life you may appreciate this place better!

Wonderful 2hr horse ride! I really enjoyed the beautiful scenery and the time spent with Elodie and her horses. It was actually a fun challenge trying to keep Equinox (my horse) from nibbling the farmers' plantain and maiz plants;-) We gave the horses a nice cool shower at the end. Amazing view from the terrace and delicious healthy vegetarian meals. I can only recommend this special place and I hope to come back and spend more time here. Keep up the great work! 😃

Beware of Snakes! The restaurant is not clean, the food does not taste good and is cold. No local dishes. I cannot recommend the Green Ranch. Better go to the Paradise Resort in Abonu for dinner. Two stars because of the landscape

Beautiful Lake! But we are very disappointed with the Green Ranch. We saw poisonous green snakes in the grass of the ranch and the food was not tasty. People from the village told us that the government has strictly prohibited the Green Ranch from riding the horses in the area. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend the Green Ranch. Because of the Lake we give 2 stars.

Looking to try horse riding as a novice, green ranch is found near the lake Bosumtwi in Abono Kumasi. Horse ride goes for GHS 100 and that lasts for an hour.

It has well kept horses for a ride. However, if the weather is too hot, they’ll not do a ride. It has great view of the Lake Bosumtwi so you’ll love it. You can stay at the Ranch or do a day trip. There is a possibility of kayaking down the lake, as well as swimming.

Camped there with my tent for a couple of nights (50 cedis per night) since I’m a low budget traveler that loves the outdoors :D The camping surface is not the best (a bit rocky -you can’t really pitch your tent- and not very flat), but if you have a very small tent -like I do- it’s still doable. The place is super nice, located on a hill just next to the lake, with a beautiful terrace to admire the view. The terrace is a great place to chill! Common showers are very nice, common toilet as well (although it could be a little bit deeper). Everything is built with wood and stone, super nice. The food is very nice, very cheap for a tourist, cheap for a normal traveler, a tiny bit too expensive for a budget backpacker like me :D this made me shorten my stay since there are not other options to eat around (unless you always want to walk 40 minutes to the next village). A couple of options more on the menu (maybe with cheaper options too) wouldn’t be bad :) Elodie, the owner/manager, is great, she’s friendly, always making sure you’re comfortable and giving tips and informations about getting there and around the area! She also gives massages and horseback riding tours. During my time there there were mostly families with kids, so mostly recommended for this type of tourists (from what I’ve experienced).

Great views, staff, hosts, and food. Two considerations for future travelers. One, if you are looking for water access I would not recommend this location. While a short trail (~5min) provides access to the water, the access is a very rocky beach not suitable for swimming. Additionally the ranch is situated up a steep hill which is not directly adjacent to the lake. A canoe is available for rent but the free local Padua boards were not available as listed on the Ranch’s service menu. Two, while the host Elodie and her family are very lovely, guests should be aware that they will generally be around throughout the day and during meals as they live at the ranch. They never felt in the way, but her children will engage the guests which may not be everyone’s preference if they are trying to take a quiet getaway alone or with a group. If you are looking for delicious vegetarian food, horse riding, and great views of the lake, this is definitely the place! One other bit of advice. I would recommend hiring a moto to get from Abono to the ranch. It is cheaper (~10 cedi/person), more comfortable, and faster than a taxi in my opinion.

I haven't been to the ranch but i would love a nice getaway from the city life to enjoy the beautiful scenery and quietness of the ranch on my birthday which is just two months away God willing. Already in love with the place after reading most of the positive reviews. Look forward to the horse riding and meeting Elodie. Someone recommended Venus(horse). I CAN'T WAIT!

The weather was wonderful and I loved the beautiful landscape. But I was very disappointed with the Green Ranch. I saw little green snakes in the grass and the grounds were not clean. The food wasn't tasty either. Joyce, a woman from the neighboring village, told me that UNESCO has banned the Green Ranch from riding the horses because they pollute the environment. The residents should report to the police if the owner rides the horses anyway.

Beautiful serene eco lodge A beautiful place with a terrace overlooking the lake, surrounded by forest. The owner is very friendly and helpful with everything. Also they actually try to run the lodge in an ecological fashion, offering delicious vegetarian meals. The horses are allowed to roam free and are treated well. There is also a little beach available. One of my favorite spots in Ghana.

Absolutely love this place! So peaceful and in the middle of nature. Met really nice people and went horseback riding, canoeing and hiking. Also the food is great, I loved how everything is vegetarian or even vegan! Would for sure come again!

We had a wonderful stay at the ranch and would recommend it to anyone :) It was one of the most relaxing and wonderful places we visited so far in Ghana. The family who runs it was really nice and provided great guidance on how to get there and even changed the room for us. The restaurant is amazing, we had great food for affordable prices and you even get water for free. The whole ranch is run eco-friendly and the restaurant is vegetarian, which we really liked. Thank you for the great experience!

We are very disappointed in the Green Ranch because we believed the many positive reviews. But it's dirty, the owner unfriendly and the food does not taste good. The green snakes have been mentioned by other guests. We also saw snakes that are very dangerous. The Green Ranch is unfortunately not recommended.

Visited a few months ago, staff very friendly and helpful to pair you with a suitable horse. 1 hour ride was very nice and scenic down by the lake. Only issue was overgrown bushes that got in our way while riding.

Certainly the most peaceful place around the lake, with great local food (the breakfast is awesome!), great view and horses roaming around freely in the property. The owner can take you for a horse ride around the lake, which is an unforgettable experience!

I was taken to this lake by a friend and it was my first time seeing a total vegetarian relaxation place in all its natural state in Ghana like that. In fact it was my first time seeing horses so big, healthy and strong up close and it was an incredible feeling. The environment, the rooms, the whole setting I could really relate to as it portrayed what I have been seeing in villages in Ghana but with a positive twist to it. I enjoyed sleeping in my room in the night which was so cool and peaceful. The second time my friend invited me, I went with my 4 year old nephew and he loved the horses so so much it was very difficult when we had to say goodbye and head home in the evening. Now I have to find a way to take him there again so he stops nagging me anytime he sees me....hahaha

Excellent! I had a really lovely stay at the Green Ranch. The ranch is like an eco lodge. They have compost toilets but still everything is very clean. I stayed in the dorm and payed 45 GHS for one night, what is very cheep. (You have a lot of space for your things in the dorm.) The food is also very good (salad for 22 GHS, a meal for 26 GHS). The filtered water is for free. I also did horse riding for 70 GHS per hour along the lake with Elodie, which was very nice and it feeld like you are in paradise. And you also have direct access to the beach and yes it is possible to swim in the lake. I can really recommend the Green Ranch and would definitely choose it again.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful spot earth. European veggie fans and horse lovers can feel at home here. The rooms are clean, attractive and well maintained by African standards. But the wonderful view from the terrace you pay with the food. There is a European price level. A breakfast costs about 7 €, a small slice of toast extra costs about 30 cents, a cup of cocoa about 1.5 € ... Friendly, helpful and qualified staff, which is not self-evident in Africa. I will gladly come again.

Location is perfect with an amazing view over the lake. Great peaceful place to stay if you want to relax during your trip in Ghana. The rooms are clean and well designed. The hostess Elodie is a warm and helpful person. We absolutely loved our stay there! The food is great too with a lot of vegetables. Only thing: the breakfast is a bit pricy. Overall a great place to stay and worth your visit. ps. We haven’t seen a single snake..

Snakes and unfriendly service The road from Kumasi to the lake is in a catastrophic state. You drive for 30 kilometers 3 hours! There are snakes on the Green Ranch! The owner is unfriendly and the food does not taste. I talked to Joyce from the next village: Joyce said Elodie Filliol, the owner, does not tell her guests about the dangerous snakes. She treats the inhabitants badly. Because of the beautiful landscape I give two stars.

I loved my stay at the green ranch. It was a nice getaway from the stress of daily life. The owner is nice and friendly. I had two issues: The road to the place is pretty terrible. We got stuck in the sand on our way out. Secondly there is a very limited choice of food and all of the food is vegan. So you don't have much of an option in terms of food. Aside that the atmosphere is great. The air is natural and the lake is just 2 mins walk away.

Beware of snakes! Very dangerous. Take rubber boots and serum with you. A woman from the village, her name is Joyce, complained about the owner of the Green Ranch, she does not tell her guests the truth about the snakes. The green ranch makes an unkempt impression. The vegetarian food doesn't taste good. A disappointment! But because of the beautiful location I give it two stars.

Stopped here for lunch, we ate on their beautiful terrace. The food was tasty and they had nice wine 🍷 Such a peaceful place to be, I wish I had booked to stay the night! I was with friends but would also feel completely comfortable staying there on my own. Only thing I would say is the track to get there is rather rough so was a little bit tricky driving down, though it was worth the bumpy drive!

We had an incredible stay! The view is breathtaking, the owner is generous and passionate, a warm for the hearts. We loved the seasonal dishes, the early-morning swims in the lake, the horseback ride and walks in such a remote and protected environment, the siestas on the terrace with the always inspiring and restful view, the good wine and the long chats after dark... thanks for everything, we'll be back soon!
