๐Ÿ‘ Nice place to work out for older folks. No gym rats or bunnies; just people who want to get their workout done. Staff is really nice and knowledgeable. Really good water aerobics classes, great for low impact workout. I think they are a little pricey compared to other places I have used, but they... People often mention workout, staff, work, pool, nice, great, equipment, members, Great,

Nice place to work out for older folks. No gym rats or bunnies; just people who want to get their workout done. Staff is really nice and knowledgeable. Really good water aerobics classes, great for low impact workout. I think they are a little pricey compared to other places I have used, but they do have a lot of good options there.

The facility was completely renovated about two years ago, including a lot of new equipment. The pool is now a salt water pool, which members seem to like. Excellent and well-qualified staff. Almost all trainers hold an appropriate masters degree. The gym opens at 6 AM on weekdays. I usually arrive fifteen minutes early, as do most of the others who come at that hour. I suppose it is different later in the day as members come and go individually, but gathering as we do each morning, there is time to talk with one another, resulting in numerous personal friendships as well as a palpable cameraderie that makes going a pleasant social event as well as a good workout. There is a very diverse crowd in the morning. A couple of retired Duke professors, a few professionals, nurses and small business owners and others. As a group we all seem to share a similar sense of humor and there is usually a fair amount of laughter as we wait for the doors to open. The group goes out of its way to welcome new-comers.

This is a great gym. It's not a muscle gym and never overcrowded. The equipment is meticulously maintained and there is an indoor pool and indoor and outdoor track. The staff is professional. I've tried several other gyms but this is by far my favorite.

Love this place. Indoor and outdoor tracks, indoor pool, lots of weight machines and kinetic machines (bikes, rowing machines, ellipticals, NuSteps, Stairmaster, you name it), free weights... Great instructors, world-class physical therapy, floor and water exercise classes, and the list goes on. Mix of old and young adults, but all are there to get and stay healthy: no showboats! Highly recommended!

Really nice place! They need to power wash their bathroom tiles and clean shower and toilets more regularly during the day, but it won't stop me from joining the gym!

Nice ameneties, friendly people, decent equipment selection. You can get a key for a locker and as many towels as you would like. Plenty of parking too. I'd say this place or the YMCA are your best gyms in the area if you're just looking for a place to work out and get cleaned up.

It is said that when the student is ready the teacher will come.Digging into weight-loss and dietary lifestle changes isn't for the faint of heart. It requires commitment and dedication. And when you are used to being in a leadership position but find yourself needing leadership - especially in an area once thought mastered - you must have the right mindset. it took me a long time to surrender to the truth that I couldn't do this transition alone. I needed help. I have found that help and support at Duke Health & Fittness and thoroughly enjoying every moment. The staff is past being qualified and friendly and very helpful. I feel 'at home' here. After a very active day at work I wanted to go home and curl up with a glass of wine. But I'm commited and resolved. So off to the Fitness Center. Dragging. To my unexpected surprise when I drug in through the doors A big smile came across my face. I had finally found a fitness center where I belonged. I'm happy. Now, for the fitness work ahead...I encourage you to check them out. Especially if of a certain age.( :

Terribly unfortunate exchange. Unable to attend class properly pd/registered for b/c the info couldn't be found. 3rd class this wk.Then rec'd call explaining it wasn't her fault instead of apology re:inconveniencing a member. Unfortunate and disappointing.

Duke Health & Fitness is a welcoming environment. I joined this facility a few weeks ago to get in shape, improve my overall health and work on strength training. So far it has been wonderful! Everyone I have met has been welcoming and encouraging. The staff is always eager to greet you and help in any way possible. The members are also encouraging, while also giving you your space, if that is what you desire. I chose to become a member here because I am a Duke University Hospital employee and it is convenient to get a workout in before work. They have a lap pool and sauna. I have not been in the pool yet, the sauna is very nice and clean. Overall the men's locker room is clean and well maintained. I highly recommend Duke Health & Fitness Center if you are looking for a gym to get a workout in without the intimidation you might feel at the larger chain gyms. The members are an older group of mature individuals, male and female, who inspire me to keep going.

๐Ÿ˜  Despite being an expensive gym, locker rooms are perpetually dirty and smelly, filtered water dispenser has been broken for months, and TVs are either broken or the staff is unwilling to change the channel. You can do much better for the price.

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ I am really satisfied with my membership at $10 a month at no commitment which I got during a special.
