St. Peter's Church is a beautiful Franciscan church, located in the center of the hill of ancient Jaffa. The church was originally built in 1654, but it was destroyed twice over the years, and the current structure was built between 1888 and 1894 and was renovated later on, in 1903. This church, named for Saint Peter's, was built here, because according to the New Testament, Saint Tabitha the Widow from Jaffa, was raised from the dead by the Apostle Peter in Jaffa. The church is open to the public every day. and the Masses are conducted in English, Spanish, Polish, and Hebrew. It is highly recommended to walk around here, and to see the beauty of this historical and remarkable area of old Jaffa!

Beautiful church, I visited during the week and they had some traditional songs playing, it felt like heaven. The mass on weekdays is at 7am in English, and on the weekends there are some in other languages.

Church is located in the historical part of Jaffa old city. You can go inside, there are masses in different languages. The surrounding area is quite interesting. Place is often crowded and packed with people, especially over the weekend. Pretty Catholic Church in old Yafo managed by the Franciscans. Located at the top of the hill and visible from most of Tel-Aviv coastline, it's accessible with a beautiful panoramic walking view of the Mediterranean sea. Has a great story of saint Peter it's nice to visit and spend some time there if you would like to learn about saint Peter story. Church from the 19th century in the heart of Jaffa.

Quite small for what other St. Peters are, but a nice church in the center of the old city.

The place where the apostle Saint Peter lived. He had a vision from heaven. Its description is given below. Peter began to explain everything to them in order. I was praying in the city of Joppa. Then I had a divine vision. I saw a vessel coming down from heaven like a great basket, holding it by its four corners. It came to me. I looked carefully and saw in it all the four-footed animals of the earth and wild animals and creeping things and birds of the air. And I heard a voice speaking unto me, Peter, arise; You kill them and eat them. Then I answered: Lord, never. I have never eaten anything abominable or unclean. A second time from heaven the voice said: Do not call unclean what God has sanctified. This happened three times. Then everything was taken back to heaven. father Acts 11 : 4-10

Too important not too see. Enter the front door by quietly pushing it. Spectacular interior. We entered during Mass, in French.

Pretty Catholic Church in old Yafo managed by the Franciscans. Located at the top of the hill and visible from most of Tel-Aviv coastline, it's accessible with a beautiful panoramic walking view of the Mediterranean sea. It's possible to take Mass every Saturday at 17.00 in Spanish and at 18.30 in English.

Old town of Tel Aviv is great. Complete contradiction to the endless number of Beachvolleyball courts and Bars (both of them make Tel Aviv a superb place to be). But what makes this whole town, and this whole country so special are their inhabitants. During a whole week I just met really nice people in Israel, regarding of their religion. Big hug from Austria for the people of Israel. Hope their leaders will get along at some point in the future

Very nice Church. I had a unique experience there. The Christmas ritual was performed by Indian Christian Priests and all the flock were Indians. It was the most special Christmas ever. This doesn't happen every year.

Probably the most notable landmark of the Old Jaffa. This franciscan church with its tall bell tower gets featured on almost all Tel Aviv postcards. And for a good reason. Being built on a high rock cliff above the Meditarean sea, it is visible from everywhere and serves as a background for many photographers. more on my Youtube channel Lex Universe :)

While it has a good location n the hill of Old Jaffa, it's rather a misplaced Neo-baroque building within an Ottoman period citadel. The current building was constructed around the late 1880's, the last renovations pre-WWI. The bell tower stands imposingly from a distance. It's not quite the usual baroque architecture without much of ornate design. It looks more like early 20th century chapels in the American southwest. It's unfortunately shut when there are no ceremonies being conducted inside.

The area is pretty. The church wasn't open so we missed the opportunity to see the inside.

There are numerous churches that are more majestic and grand, but this humble church has a lot of Christian history given its location in Jaffa.

I'd say a good starting point for a Jaffa visit (go top to bottom, the reverse makes old jaffa a stair master). Minimal stair climb from here
