(Translated by Google) I think it's average, but I give it 4 stars not to be a hypocrite, because the value is very good. It only serves the function of Hostel and is very busy, what I did not like is that I arrived at dawn and had to stay calling for several minutes, until a guest was and opened, the reason? I was having a party on the terrace where the receptionist was also, the party was a bit noisy, but I could sleep because I was sleepy. All in all, the staff are friendly, note: they do not give a towel, they only rent it.

Arriving at the hostel in the early hours of the morning was nothing short of creepy. We walked in to find people sleeping everywhere. In the “lobby,” on couches, everywhere. The 24 hour reception could be summed up as someone who happens to be awake enough to “check us in,” not that we really needed to be checked in, as there were no locks to the doors. The owner was nasty, rude, and had a clear distaste for Americans, which he made very clear to us. When we politely asked for a key to our room, the owner responded with "Are you American," to which we replied "yes." He then rudely answers with "figured." He proceeds to tell us that dorms don't get keys, even though each hostel we have stayed at on our 3 month trip has had a key to the dorms. We then asked if other people were booked to stay with us, as we were the only ones in the room our first night. He rudely responded by saying of course there would be because we chose a 4 person room, but he didn’t even bother to check his computer for bookings! Turns out, we had the room to ourselves all 3 nights.... He then went on to speak about us and Americans in general to his coworker IN ENGLISH while we were standing right there! You can tell how nasty this owner is by the responses to negative reviews, as he will probably write one about this. This hostel is run by volunteers who basically just want a place to stay, so they don’t care about the people who are staying at the hostel. The sheet clearly had bed bug stains, so I don’t know how we got away without any bed bugs. DO NOT STAY HERE. Not worth the cheap price.

Stayed here a couple nights. Really rad place. Very hip. The staff are very helpful and friendly, the bathrooms are kept surprisingly clean (relativity, for so many people). Everyone was super respectful during our stay. A few awesome services they offer: laundry (hang dry only), bike rentals, a breakfast spread, ride shares (split cabs), upcoming events. Overall it's a great place to get clean and comfortable on a budget if you don't mind the communal/social atmosphere. It's what it's built on. (PS. This will sound like idiot's guide advice, but if you reserve the tent, it's actually a tent. On the roof. It's nice that they offer so much housing, but check the weather report.)

(Translated by Google) The hostel is quite good !!! Sometimes noisy, the interior partitions are thin and therefore it is audible what happens in the neighbors. The rooms are large for 6 people, a room for men and women. there is internet, WiFi, konder, kitchen, shower cabins, toilets, washing machines, cooler with cold and hot water. Everywhere clean, cleaning is done every day. In the morning breakfasts are toasters and tea. In the kitchen there are three refrigerators, electric stove, microwave. You can buy food in the store and cook something to your taste. Any dishes (pots, pans, plates, mugs, spoons) The bad news is that the kitchen closes at 22.30, if you're late you will remain hungry. In the rooms there are not enough nightstands and cabinets for things. In the evening, everyone hang out on the roof of the mini bar on the sofas. there is a pool. Not far away there are a dozen tents on the roof (you can sleep in them). The contingent is mostly young, I lived here for 5 days, All liked it. Hostel I recommend. !!!!!

It is the worst hostel in Tel Aviv. Music plays there whole night, they have sign in reception that after 23 should be quite, but music plays unstoppably. Showers and bathrooms are dirty. In doors there is no hadles, it is impossible to lock the door. If you write in internet negative opinion - as i and my wife did, they responding with agression and very offensive. To be fair workers from that hoster after seeing our negative opinion in Facebook, cancel our reservation, that we wouldn't be able to write about our experiences in hostelworld app, where we book a room. Also they discriming peopl by age, saying that people after 45yo can't reserve a room in there. Hostel is in very strange neighborhood, far away from the center, and even from Old Yaffo. Don't reserve room there, it is not worth any money. Better is take a room in Abraham Hostel, where is clean, cheap and they don't treat you as unwanted bug. I attaching some photos prooving mess in there.

I've stayed here for a week and I would very much recommend. The staff are stressed and don't always have time to sit and talk, but they're busy (and understaffed) and when they do have time they are very friendly. If you're looking for somewhere to sleep overnight and want to sort out your own plans while you are in Tel Aviv, this is the perfect place. Freedom to move around, come and go as you please. If you need to sleep during the day, it's quiet and easy. At night they have a roof terrace where you can put something on the television. The world cup was on while I was here and we all sat and watched the England - Colombia game. The neighbourhood looks rougher than it is. Everyone around is friendly and kind. If you get lost, there's no need to be afraid to ask for directions. Super friendly, easy to find, comfortable, cheap. The best things you can ask for from a backpackers hostel! Be patient with the staff, they don't need any more stress!

Definitely young vibes. A bit sexual decoration. I kind of like it. Make sure what room you book. It can be hot on the roof inside the tent. Owner strictly dislike smoking joints inside so you are forced to go out.

Best hostel ever. You can reach the beach and Jaffa by foot. The people are super friendly and the guests are unique and memorable. You can chill outside or smoke on the roof. The breakfast is free. The guys at the reception are open for questions and problems. I can recommend it. :)

I got a vibe that the place was more for the volunteers working there, instead of the actual guests. It seemed like there was a 50/50 split between hostel volunteers and guests, which created an interesting social dynamic. The facilities itself are eccentric and awesome. A cheap hostel that will get the job done, but there are much nicer and cleaner options in Tel Aviv.

Staff were really friendly and helpful. Rooms were as you would expect for a hostel. The atmosphere was good and the rooftop was pretty cool with its own casual bar and little pool. WiFi didn't really work for me but I had data anyway.

In general a great place with lots of art and cool stuff around. The rooms are nice and clean. The staff was helpful but not over friendly. It would be a really great place but somehow there was not such a good atmosphere when we were there and no one from the people made effort to get people involved or drinking so only 4/5 but for the price totally okay !

Great hostel. Very nice and helpful personal. Even the shared rooms are cool. But the rooftop is the best. Only minus is the locality which is a bit far from the night life. But old city is close.

This hostel is an absolute gem! Super funky, its located inside of a renovated textile mill! The space has tons of character, just like the people who run it! Covered in street art and murals, and filled with cheep bears and comfortable couches, Overstay is the PERFECT place to make your home while exploring Old Jaffa (Hands down the COOLEST, most artistic, alternative, and lively neighborhood in all of Tel Aviv; complete with famous flea market, beautiful historical Old Jaffa Port, and the legendary beach front just a few minutes walk away!). Although a bit hard to find at first, this hidden treasure is worth seeking out, be you a lone female traveler, or a group of fellas out on the town. It provides a safe home base for all sorts, with a staff that looks out for you like you are one of them, and facilities that you can make your own. Its a haven for free spirits, and a wonderful new addition to the hostel community!

WORST HOSTEL EXPERIENCE EVER!!! NO HOT WATER!!! FREEZING COLD ROOMS!!! I stayed at this hostel for a few days. This place is a converted warehouse. The rooms are like jail cells, very small space, small window, no ventilation, concrete walls, cold, thin uncomfortable mattresses. A lot of the rooms have no heat or air conditioning. There was no hot water when I stayed there because there was no sun that morning. The management is very cheap. They are unwilling to run the hot water heater because it costs them some money. BE CAREFUL TO ASK FRO RECEIPTS WHEN YOU BUY BEER OR FOOD FROM THIS HOSTEL. They charged me twice for a lot of stuff and wouldn't give me a refund when I brought it to their attention. A TOTAL SCAM! BEWARE! Beer is cheaper just a block away at the corner store anyway, so go buy it there. The management is very weird. They are not outdoorsy, travel bug, backpacker types that I have always encountered at hostels. They are grungy, garage, graffiti, artsy fartsy sketchy people. They attract negative elements such as drug dealers who routinely stay at their hostel. They are extremely cheap. They are anti-semetic as well. Their manager Omer talked about several groups of American Jewish women that stayed there in a derogatory manner--claiming they were 'spoiled' because they complained about their not being hot water and how uncomfortable the conditions were. They employ lots of illegal immigrants and use junk to do all their renovations. Their kitchen counters are made from old shower stalls. Im a fan of creative art and all, but really? Do I want to eat off of a shower stall that was host to who knows how many years of fungus, mold, etc? They make enough money in fraudulent beer sales etc they could afford to buy a regular counter top. The location is sketchy and unsafe. Its near a prison, a chain of mechanic shops, and nowhere close to the safe tourist scenes of Jaffa and Tel Aviv. You'll end up paying the difference in cab/bus fare. They do provide beaten up bikes, but totally unsafe in my opinion to bike around at night from Tel Aviv where all the action is. cabs are expensive. This place is also high drama. I witnessed one of the staff (the guy with the beard) get in one of the guests face for apparently no reason and insult him and then kick him out. I asked the staff what had happened and he said that nobody is welcome to the hostel unless they have a reservation for security reasons. I think there is more to that story that the staff tell. I have stayed in hostels for years and i've never witnessed staff treating a visitor so rudely and violently. Lastly, don't expect to get a lot of sleep, the walls are paper thin and there is always hammering and construction going on. This place should not have a hostel charter. They work with Go Eco to provide housing for people who volunteer with various community service projects. Go Eco should be ashamed of themselves for putting their volunteers up at overstay. The hostel's real name is Overpay because thats what you do when you stay there. Overstated and Overpaid is what that hostel really is. A total dump. A bunch of racist, anti-semetic and discriminatory managment. And when you do your investigation about this bomb shelter of a hostel, you will see that my feedback is corroborated by the majority of guests who have had the misfortune of staying here. The positive reviews if any are either paid staff, fraudulent, or friends of the management who have a stake in the profits. STEER CLEAR!!

Overstay TLV is the best Hostel I've stayed in. Located just a few minutes away by foot from Tel Aviv Beach, Yafo-Jaffa port and 4000 years old ancient town, minutes away from the lovely artsy and booming neighbourhood of Florentine with multiple bars, cafe, clubs and pubs. At Overstay one quickly feel at home; with a very welcoming atmosphere, guests quickly feel like being part of the family and great many of them choose to Overstay in the beautiful Israeli Metropolis of Tel Aviv. The wonderful team of the Hostel is very friendly extending to all comers their "Savoir-Faire" in regards to hospitality and family experience; whether one chooses to stay a single night or many, one would always get a chance to Overstay once or more. The rooftop of Overstay with its view overlooking the modern city of Tel Aviv-Yafo/Jaffa and surrounding area. Just a few minutes away by train from Israel's major International airport, about 50 minutes away from Jerusalem or Haifa from where one could easily visit the North.. etc. Overstay TLV is the most affordable way to visit Tel Aviv, an inexpensive and great hostel with a guest house like atmosphere with many common showers (There is lots of hot water) and bathrooms. Thank you guys, you are doing a great job. *******

We wanted to stay two nights. We saw the dirty beds and decided against staying there. We told the receptionist that we want a refund. She told us that it is not possible for her to do so but the would inform her manager. We never got an email nor our money back. ( Rogers Hostel 30 bed dorm was a great alternative clean etc)

Best hostel I’ve ever stayed at. The vibe is incredible and the staff go beyond their duties to make you feel at home. This hippie styled hostel is great if youre looking for other fun and friendly travellers. It’s local to the Old City, Florentin and of course the beach. Will 100% be going back! Xx

Best Hostel in Israel. Trust me I stayed in plenty others, I even did CS and it's totally worth it. Plus the cheapest one (that's what dragged me there), and the atmosphere with the staff and between guests is just amaaaaazing. Breakfast is simple but better in comparison to other Hostels rates. I'll for sure go back there!! :D

This is more of a Berlin or London style warehouse living arrangement then a hostel. Lots of funky art and graffiti and friendly, laid back people. The bed was very comfortable. Wi-fi can be quite poor and cuts in and out and not all staff were able to give information on things. There is an amazing bar in a minibus outside (with a friendly barman who drinks all the leftovers at the end!). A thunderstorm showed a few leaks and the unisex bathrooms could be spruced up a bit; you're usually within a foot of someone using the toilet when brushing your teeth. Cool, eccentric atmosphere and homely. Like many hostels it is a bit clicky with the volunteers and long-termers but they all socialise, There's a cool roof top section too with tables and a hammock. Also breakfast is left out until it's finished (i.e not tucked away swiftly at 10am) and you get nice things like olives and nutella with the bread.

I loved the yard with the sofas, trees, bus-bar and cool people hanging out. I wasn't traveling alone but I think that if you're solo, you can easily blend in and hang out with the staff and other travelers, the atmosphere is welcoming. There's a camping on the roof - a hilarious idea! Plus a bakery (open at night) right across the street. The hostel recommends things to do, we tried the free walking tour and a live African music gig at the docks, both great picks. Overstay isn't for everyone, though. Only for cool people.

This place is fantastic, a good cheap hostel with a great kitchen, a downstairs bar with inside and outside seating, a rooftop for chilling out (complete with a hammock), comfy bunks, and excellent staff. Loved the atmosphere, including the wall art. 10/10 would stay here again, the vibe is better than the bigger hostels. A good supermarket (Super Bakharet) is less than a kilometer away, and several cornerstores are even closer.

  • 5/5 Oscar P. 6 years ago on Google
Awesome hostel within walking distance to the beach and shops (10 min) and within walking distance of bus stations (5 min) if you need to head downtown, the train station or the central bus station. The staff was international so language barriers shouldn't exist. Great hangout spot on the roof with couches, cold beer, a pool and an amazing atmosphere. Day or night, you could always find someone you met on the roof. Hot showers, clean bathrooms, large kitchen, do-it yourself laundry and rent-a-bike service are some of the other amenities that round this place out. Don't need to have a Pub Crawl listed: the staff goes out enough and will invite guests to the real spots locals go to for drinks, dancing and authentic (affordable) meals. Enjoy your overstay!
