Citizen Cafe is reason I can speak in Hebrew today. I did 6 levels with Citizen Cafe (starting with virtually no Hebrew speaking background). Now I am proud to say that I am conversational in Hebrew. Their methods works and the focus on conversational Hebrew (not the academic Hebrew you learn in a university class). They goal is for you to get around the streets of Israel, by knowing common phrases, essential words, and also slang. The teachers are all amazing and go above and beyond to help you. Classes are with students from around the world, which is great as you start making friends in different countries. I cannot recommend them enough!

I've been studying with citizen cafe for 6 months. It's completely exceeded my expectations and I had pretty high expectations going in. Not only is the method incredibly effective it's so much fun! My top 3 favorite parts of studying with citizen cafe are: 1. You start speaking right away, no matter how much of a beginner you are. This really helps to overcome the shyness and hesitancy to speak until you feel like you know more, or you think that you sound perfect is perfect. The teachers are so supportive that no matter how big of a perfectionist you are you'll start to feel comfortable trying, making, mistakes, and getting better. I can't believe how much I've learned in such a short time! 2. In these classes you'll learn Hebrew as it's actually spoken. We learn a lot of really fun slang and we also learn how people actually pronounce and use words in everyday conversation. 3. I have met so many incredible people all around the world. I thought that doing virtual classes might feel less connected than in person, but every single class and practice group feels like a party with your new best friends. I can't wait to keep meeting more people and improving my Hebrew as I continue with citizen cafe

I highly recommend Citizen Cafe for anyone who is serious about learning Hebrew. It’s really the best method of learning Hebrew. Love all the teachers! They were fantastic! The students were from everywhere around the globe. So interesting to be able to sit on zoom and converse in Hebrew with classmates from around the world! The speak ups were really a lot of fun…and such a fun, effective way to learn. If anyone is making Aliyah, working with Israelis, or just learning Hebrew I highly recommend this.

I have tried many different ways to learn conversational Hebrew to no avail. Then, chose Citizen Cafe. And, soon afterwards my vocabulary grew. Some think it is too pricey, and after 4 semesters, and registered for 2 more ... it is worth every dollar. The practice groups are key to successful speaking and having confidence to just talk. The teachers know this and are encouraging. Sometimes it is daunting when other students lived in Israel and know more vocabulary. The teachers recognize this and acknowledge your growth and give positive feedback to keep you motivated. I recommend this school. I can now hold a simple conversation and understand most Hebrew. It helped me also to interpret prayers.... so now I know what I am speaking in Hebrew. So, do it. It is amazing.

I've been with Citizen Cafe for over 2 years now. Besides learning Hebrew, which was my main goal, I was so pleasantly surprised at how wonderful the entire community is. The teachers are great and make learning Hebrew so much fun. In addition, I have made friends from all over the world during my classes and practice session. I highly recommend Citizen Cafe to everyone. I honestly can not say enough of how much I love this community and of course, learning Hebrew as well.

Citizen cafe is the best! The staff and teachers are incredibly nice and so fun! It was a great group of people to learn Hebrew with also. The teacher really helped us bond as a group. I've been studying with Citizen Cafe via zoom for almost a year. I've made more progress in becoming a Hebrew speaker in this time than I thought possible. It was great to be in Israel and understand some of the signs on the street and some of the discussion between my son and daughter-in-law. The teachers have wonderful positive energy and it's been wonderful to meet others who have a commitment to Israel.

I signed up for citizen Cafe to learn how to speak Hebrew. What an amazing experience! The people in my class were from all over the world, different ethnicities with one common goal! Our teacher Niv was really great! I've been sharing my experience with all kinds of people, because my experience has been that amazing! It is really not that often that a program, is designed this well. I never expected to learn so much in such a short period of time. I recommend this company and this program. The instructors are fabulous and my Hebrew has improved immensely -- I honestly think it is better now than it was when I lived there for 6 years! The office is sometimes not 100% organized (if they were, it wouldn't be a true Israeli experience!) but everyone is easy to work with. If you want to learn and/or improve your Hebrew, this is by far the best place to do so.

I’ve been learning Hebrew for years. First, as a kid in school, and now as an adult through various on line courses. You name them; I’ve tried them. The absolute BEST of them all is Citizen Cafe. Their systemaric teaching method is the most effective. When I finish their 20 week course, I yearn for the next semester. Citizen cafe is wonderful. I'm having a great time and everyone is so impressed with my progress in Hebrew fluency. All the teachers are well trained and what's best, is they teach you things that you actually need to know. Things that come up in daily conversations. I am an international languages teacher (30 years experience) and can affirm that Citizen Cafe is an amazing place for real, useful Hebrew learning. Teachers are young, energetic, charismatic, intelligent and engaging! The content is extremely well organized and level appropriate; special attention is paid to Hebrew that is relevant and used in modern contexts. Students have access to "labs" that provide contexts for practice. While at university one can be exposed to excellent content, at Citizen Cafe we learn to make Hebrew our own. Teachers employ extremely useful and necessary methods in exciting ways (they even make repetition not boring)! Citizen Cafe also creates a familiar and inviting community where students engage with each other in authentic contexts. Students can move from being beginners to approaching advanced levels within short periods of time. Sometimes we even meet students who physically live near us, with whom we can meet up in the real world.

Wow, it's coming up on almost a year. The method at Citizen is very effective - we talk in Hebrew all the time. Each level builds more skills, confidence, and understanding of how Israelis communicate. I have a new global network of friends, my classmates, that I've met via zoom and we are a community learning together. The instructors have a great combination of energy and patience. I always wanted to learn Hebrew but never had the time until I retired. I'm current at the sixth of twelve levels and I am enjoying the Citizens Cafe experience immensely. The lessons and the practice sessions are fast-paced, engaging, and do a great job lesson by lesson, and practice session by practice session, building your knowledge of Hebrew, your ear for Hebrew, and your confidence speaking Hebrew. Citizen Cafe has been great! I have tried for years to teach myself Hebrew, but it obviously has never worked. My teacher, Shira, has a ton of energy and makes the class fun. The practice groups are really helpful and all of the teachers I have interacted with have been great.

I found this program through a Google search and decided to give it a try and not only is the methodology brilliant, the execution and customer service are absolutely flawless. Every single person I have interacted with has been eager to help, quick to respond and very friendly. The teachers are the most committed and engaged I've ever seen and they are so great at creating a safe and encouraging space for the class. In half of one semester I see a marked improvement in both my auditory comprehension and confidence to speak. Citizen café is the best way to get better at Hebrew. The teachers really make it fun. I like that we did a variety of things like reading from the newspaper, listening to news, watching television shows and short YouTube videos. For me, I’m pretty adept at speaking Hebrew but I did learn a lot of new vocabulary and slang. You got a Lot of chance to speak especially in small groups. I am getting ready to start my second semester at Citizen Cafe. I enthusiastically recommend this program to all of my friends. The teaching method is excellent and so are the teachers. During the semester at Citizen Cafe my ability to speak Hebrew improved dramatically. The classes were not only extremely effective, they were also really enjoyable.

I completed two semesters at Citizen Cafe TLV. I like the teaching method and the teachers who keep the students engaged during the lesson. I tried different online apps to learn Hebrew. But those classes are really made a difference. There is a variety of zoom classes times, it is easy to find one that fits my life style. The classes are small and everyone gets a chance to speak up multiple times. During the class we learn the words and then repeat them in different sentences to understand how to use them. At the end of two semesters I leaned to use, write and understand more than 700 words. I am very thankful for this opportunity to learn Hebrew. Can't wait for the next semester to start!

This is the first time that I’ve attended Zoom classes to learn a new language. I have been very impressed with the methodology that is followed. Repeating phrases and speaking constantly is helping to train us to be better communicators. They make it easy to not feel bad when making mistakes along the way.
