Recommend going with a local since it was guarded by a random man asking for 10 cedis but definitely worth it. A gorgeous gem well worth the scenic drive through different areas of tropics and poverty. Absolutely amazing nature untouched by man

Its is located in Dodowa forest ,and one thing I know about this waterfall is that the more you shout the more the water comes out from the rock such wonderful to be there.

The scenery is tranquil. A good getaway from the heat of the city. The inhabitants of the town tend to bath in the water. A fee of 2GH is charged for Ghanaians and 5GH for foreigners. One pays 3GH on holidays.Visited the place on Saturday afternoon and there were not many people there. There is no restaurant in the neighbouring area hence its advisable to bring snacks if you plan to stay long. At the Ghanata jucntion, rode on a motor to the place. MTN network does not work at the falls, unless one comes out to the entrance. Tigo works fine. There are few benches for one to sit on. The water is a little bit sandy. There is not much to watch or do at the place.

Looks so abandoned although it has such a mind blowing view. When we went there, there was a police or Immigration recruits training going on there. We were escorted by a tour guide and 2 armed immigration officers from the entrance to the waterfalls. We payed 20 Ghana cedis per person but the tour guide couldn’t educate us about the place. Note that the road from Koforidua to the waterfalls is very bad

Very attractive Waterfall in a secondary Forest near a Security Training Centre so visitors security is firmly assured. It measures 78 metres with beautiful surrounding rock shapes and Fauna. About 4.5 km away also lies Boti falls. It is most wonderful during the rainy seasons. This is due to the effects of the Global warming. It is about 1 hour drive from Koforidua through semi motorable road

I give it a 5 for beauty and exoticness. I visited during the dry season, then the stream was just a little trickle. I hope to visit again when after the rains so that I can witness the full beauty of the falls and also photograph it from the top of the gorge. The huge rocks along the face of the gorge are incredibly beautiful, if a little intimidating. It's not a big waterfall but the gorge it is positioned in is picturesque. It's also not as popular as othe falls in the region, which makes for a more relaxed visit.

Been to Boti before and this was more interactive and there's more to see! The hike down alone was really cool! We walked alongside the cliff with groundwater dripping from from rocks above (be prepared to get wet, especially if it's rainy season). And we could walk almost to the falls as it blasted us with mist! Theres also another legde off from the main staircase that gives you a decent view of the falls and the rest of the cliff and valley. The view if the falls is not that good, but being so close to the falls makes up for it to me. There's also a balanced rock (aka umbrella rock) with an incredible view of the valley nearby. Boti makes for a great picture, but Akaa is a cooler and more memorable experience to me. (Plus it was half the cost for Obrunis and a third for Locals vs Boti falls)

It is a cool place to be, especially Not on holidays. I suggest the place will be developed well for recreational purposes and also help in generating revenues.

It is nice place to visit. Its located inside a barrack and without a guide you may not easy navigate your way to where the fall is. So once you enter the barrack you may need a guide to take you to it. The trek is not so long. It involves some little climbing of stairs and then you reach the waterfall. I couldn't go down to what the water falls. Then you can asked to be taken to where the source of the waterfall is and they branch into two. Quite interesting. You can give the guide any amount you have or bargain with him. Overall it was a nice experience. Nearby is Boti waterfalls so be sure to go there if you're already at AKAA

This was a trip organised by the 1983 year group of Nifa Secondary school. We were celebrating 40 years after completing secondary school. Full of fun enjoying nature and refreshing ourselves with good memories of school life. When you have time, please go chill out there. NOSA83 Trip, we drove from Adukrom in the Easten Region.

It is a nice place but they try to let you pay to much. About 30 cedi should be enough because it is also nog officially tourism department. They are nice.

  • 1/5 Marlene M. 1 year ago on Google
NOT WORTH IT! It is really expensive (30GHS per person) for foreigners - a man will take you on a β€œtour” for that price - really, he ist just walking you one way trough the army camp in front. You go down to the small waterfall by yourself and back as well. Crazy overpriced!

Akaa falls is said to have gotten it name after someone drowned and all efforts to find him didn't work. But after some years they found the skeleton locked in the rocks. So the villagers started calling the site Akaa which means stacked in twi language. The walkway to the falls is so beautiful with rocks and trees. You need to visit here and see the beauty of nature.

This place has so much potential but have been abandoned some way some how consideration what could have been done to derive the best out of it. I think we as a people need to start taking some serious interest in preserving and enhancing our natural tourist sites and make them attractive. I will be very much available to volunteer for any of such ventures now and in the future. Unfortunately I can't share the videos I took of the place 🀦

This waterfall is quite a hidden gem. Its surroundings is really natural and cool. It is a seasonal waterfall so it is better to visit during or after the rainy season.

  • 4/5 Yaw K. 1 year ago on Google
It has a cool rocky environment. It's unfortunate it's a seasonal waterfall. It comes in its volumes during the rainy season. Don't venture if you are afraid of heights.

The heights were nice for it to be call a falls but it hasn't been managed for a long time and the surroundings are not encouraging but all same it was okay

  • 4/5 Richard S. 2 years ago on Google
Was okay. Good sightseeing. The Ghana Police is current using the place as their training grounds. Access is however granted to people who wants to see the place. It’s a great place to see. You can get really close to the fall and for me I think that’s awesome. Just visit and see the place before it’s totally closed to the public.
