Serene and beautiful ambiance to be. I love the natural reserves and preservations. It’s a great experience driving on the road leading to this place. There are all types of plants over here with various uses. This is one of the best place to visit especially for a weekend hangout or a picnic☺️

A beautiful botanical garden situated around 45 minutes from Central Accra. The drive up there is beautiful and you pass through a number of local villages. Get a guided tour to learn about all the plants and trees here and their uses.

So it's a smooth drive from the tollbooth, if it's a pinic please go along with your own mat and food. The food vendors don't come every day. A place of convince is a problem. The buildings are soo dilapidated and needs work. The gate fee varies. At times you don't pay at all, at times you do. Good for pictures and try going in the evening. The chills and atmosphere. What i love most is the khebab and the palm wine you get to buy on your way to accra. Don't go during rainy season. Soo wet and you can't sit. There are no good seats to sit on and no shades. They need new management to really upscale the place.

Simply beautiful; the environment, the ambiance, the view and the impeccable floor plan. Its a must visit for anyone who loves nature. I admire the cleanliness of the place, its spacious and very child friendly. They also have a homey restaurant, with yummy meals at your disposal Let me know when you visit 😁

Amazing place, where you will feel completely immersed in nature. The road from Accra is excellent and safe. We had our meal at Rocky restaurant where, besides eating good food, you enjoy good reggae music. I highly recommend it!

Aburi Gardens has certainly lost it's charm over the years. I've visited on multiple occasions over the years and there doesn't seem to be any improvement or change. One would imagine some sort of curated experience or guided tour be offered upon entering, instead you are left to your own devices to roam the grounds with no real understanding of the significance of the botany around you. If your only intention is to simply take a photo with the giant palm trees that line the entrance, then you are certainly in the right place. However if you're expecting more I'd advise you to seek out some other botanical garden.

Beautiful place to go for few hours. Not too big. Do photography. They charge for DSLR in addition to the entry fees which is 5 GHs for locals and 10 Ghs for foreigners. Children are charged less. Broken helicopter view is nice to take some candid pics. Perspective of trees are nice to shoot.

OMG, not for what saying wow , but there are a lot of types of tree Yes , there is a small need of maintenance like cutting the grass off , fixing the small board with the info on it , except these petit petit things , it’s a place to go while in Ghana It worths it The lady at the entrance , OMG, I forgot her name , but bless her , I went there on the 14th of November , if someone has seen , sees or will see her , she’s such an angel Wanted to take a picture with her , but she was busy attending other people For the entrance fees , there are quite reasonable , seriously Please once again , visit that place , it worths the trip I’m not a fan of pictures , but there , the sun for picture is eishhhhh whenaaaaa 🔥🤲🏽👍👍👍

Being from Aburi, I couldn’t be happier with how the botanical gardens has been turned around. There is still room for improvement but this is the best place to relax and maybe have a picnic if you are ever climbing up the mountain. Don’t forget to find the hollow tree. Growing up there were stories of a pot up the tree, it was so scary that, we were asked never to go in and look up. Having grown up, the first thing I wanted to do when I visited was look up. Lol

If you are a nature lover, this is definitely the place to visit. It has a serene atmosphere and draws you closer to mother nature. You'll have the opportunity to see various species of trees, plants and flowers. The green grass offers the right environment for a Picknick (please do not litter the place). A long walk around the perimeters of the Graden will be enough to rejuvenate you 😊😊.

If there’s a way to find out how busy the garden is on a holiday please do! There could be extremely loud events that will ruin the entire space for you. Entry fee is 5ghc per person and you can bring your own food, chairs, mats, etc. Barely anything to see in terms of plant life unless you have a guide with knowledge on trees.

For the quiet seekers, this would be ideal to visit during the less festive seasons, or on weekdays where less events actually happen in order to enjoy the peace and quiet that the garden has to offer - among the trees and lush grounds.

Aburi Garden is amazing. A sweet, serene natural habitat garden for anyone who enjoys nature. It's a place for families to have picnics and really gel together. If you get there early enough, it's a great spot for bird watching. A lot of interesting plants for plant lovers as well. The only problem is that most of the buildings are in a state of disrepair and that is not really great. I feel it will have more to offer people who might like to spend say a weekend there if they renovated the place. In all the experience is great. Totally loved it.

Lovely tall trees and scenery. Can bring your food along for a picnic (bring your own cloth or chairs and table) however there are kids an some adults there who literally stalk you for money or food which makes the whole experience a bit agitating. Not quite sure if they have washrooms either.

Fort Amsterdam, a World Heritage Site is a fort in Kormantin, Central region, Ghana. It was built by the English between 1638 and 1645 as Fort Cormantin or Fort Courmantyne, and was captured by admiral Michiel de Ruyter of the Dutch West India Company in 1665,in retaliation for the capture of several Dutch forts by the English Admiral Holmes in 1664. It was subsequently made part of the Dutch Gold Coast, and remained part of it until the fort was traded with the British in 1868. The Fort is located at Abandze ,on the north-east of Cape Coast in the Mfantseman District of the Central Region of Ghana.

There are a few impressive trees. We saw a few birds and butterflies. However, the gardens haven't been looked after, the buildings are tired (it seems like the last maintenance that was done, was in 1960). Secondly, a lot of children begging and walking after you for a few cedi's and not taking no for an answer.

The garden occupies an area of 64.8 hectares. It was opened in March, 1890 and was founded by Governor William Brandford-Griffith and Dr John Farrell Easmon, a Sierra Leonean medical doctor. Before the garden was established, it was the site of a sanatorium built in 1875 for Gold Coast government officials. During the governorship of William Brandford-Griffith, a Basel missionary and Jamaican Moravian, Alexander Worthy Clerk, supervised clearing of land around the sanatorium to start the Botanic Department. In 1890 William Crowther, a student from the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, was appointed the garden's first curator. The gardens played an important role in encouraging cocoa production in South Ghana, by supplying cheap cocoa seedlings and information about scientific farming methods. After Hevea brasiliensis was sent to Aburi from Kew in 1893, the gardens also encouraged rubber production in Ghana.

Greens Greens everywhere. An environment of history mixed with serenity and rich array of great species of trees and other plants. Located at Aburi and with one of the most beautiful, cool and comfortable weather type in Ghana, its a tourist site aged well over 130 years that has seen some extinct species of plants providing education to the world. A perfect environment for picnics, wedding receptions etc. Visit Aburi Gardens and have fun 🪴 🌿 🪴 🌿 🪴 🌳 🌲 🌴 🌳

Quite a nice place to visit. Unfortunately, only the main alleys are well groomed. Not enough explanatory signs around the trees, even though it is a botanical garden! There are very few benches, so you should keep it in mind. The fence around the garden is damaged here and there, and many visitors come from the holes free of charges :) Warning: the palm wine sold by local vendors was not fresh (or mixed with dirty water), we got a bad poisoning there.

Isolated on a hill in Kormanti, Fort Amsterdam is one of the many Heritage sites in the Central Region of Ghana. It makes for attractive viewing from a distance for travelers looking out their vehicle windows onto the hills and greenery that engulf the main road into the region. All the history it carries and lessons from it is accessible when one gets closer enough and engage the tour guides in and around the fort.

An ideal location to have a quiet day of reflection. It is also perfect for families and lovers to hangout for picnic. On the academic side, it's a good resource centre to aid research activities. Cons: 1. On the weekends, it is busy with social activities such as weddings and funerals which can be very distracting for a quiet day out in a garden. 2. Expect to be charged 100ghs minimum for using a DSLR or a Digital camera to take photos of your surroundings. This is after paying entry fee.

The Gardens, as usual, still has a lot of greens with a relatively cool environment. Talk trees, shrubs and large leafy plants are a few of the things you'll see. It's a shame most of the plants were losing their names as at the time I visited. (I mean, that's one reason the Garden was made, right? What's a tree without it's name?😃) Here are a few things to note though: 1. The fee is GH¢5 per head, but you may want to budget little more; just in case. 2. The place has little to entertain you and your loved ones so it'll do you some good if you carry something to excite yourself along. 3. Also, take with you a bug spray or repellent🐜. Trust me, it'll come in real handy. I still have swells on my skin from the big bites.😫 4. It'll do you some good if you took a long your own food😋 and/or drinks. I'm not too sure they sell food over there. After all, nothing beats 'home food'😄 5. If you're from Madina, getting a car to and back from Aburi Botanic Gardens is quite easy. Rest assured😉 6. Have fun🎊. Take photos🤳. Take videos. Memories are too important to be lost.🍾🎂🎉

This botanical garden is beautiful and has so much history. It is also quite accessible, an adult pays 5cedis for Ghanaians, 10 for foreigners for access (less for children) and you can spend the day. However, it is a bit rundown and not maintained properly. Such a shame. Hopefully, one day this will be fixed.

Attended an event called SavannaTreat 3.0 with friends from Ghana East region and had a great time at the Aburi Botanical Gardens. The surrounding infrastructures requires a refurbishment and will be good as new. The tourguide had an in-depth knowledge of the gardens history and its nursery plant to ancient trees. We saw curry leaves, bay leaves, nutmeg plant, cinnamon plant, quinine plant amongst other. I got fascinated by the ficus tree where is had successfully strangled it's host and can't see a sight of the original host tree. We passed one of the garden restaurant called Royal Garden while taking a stroll and found the food and drinks prices reasonable.

The gardens are a special kind of serene. You really feel the amazing energy for the ancient trees standing within the grounds. It’s quite a large park so we were able to find our own little corner where we let off our 3 dogs without incident. The drive up is also spectacular, with panoramic views of the city below as you climb the mountain. On a clear day we’ve been told it’s possible to see all the way to the sea.

What an awesome place. It’s located higher up in the mountains so you can instantly feel the cooler air. There are paved paths and a few unmade paths to explore, but there’s always a lot of life happening. We watched birds of prey fight for food, saw lizards, huge spiders, and even caught sight of a green snake! If you love nature, this is a sweet place to visit. And of course, birds are abundant! And the old helicopter was an unexpected site, but cool to check out. We also ate at Rose Restaurant at the botanical garden and their palaver sauce was so good!

First of all... Why were people smoking around the place? 2ndly, its embarrassing that locals (kids) are allow into the garden and they boldly walk up to people asking for food. Also... The security and the fair guy at the entrance kept coming to my family to tell us that we had to pay money. 1. Using a personal camera to take pictures isn't allowed so we should pay him 100ghc. The camera was a personal digital camera. 2. The backdrop we had [it was the celebration of a 1yr birthday of my nephew] we have to pay 100ghc for that. Then again they wanted us to give them the money so they go and pay for us. I had to walk with the security man to the notice board cos they claim that's where the info is. When I got there, it read "photoshot" were to be paid for. They clearly saw it wasn't a photoshot we were having. This doesn't speak well about the place. Esp not to foreigners.

Aburi Botanical Gardens This is what I would call a HIGH RISE TERMITE RESIDENCE. I've never experienced anything like it. In fact I didn't believe it until my companion showed me the TERMITES. AMAZING

Little silent near Accra. Is a beautiful garden. Lot of old tree. The price is good. 5 cedi for ghanian people. Have place for parking.

I am afraid the gardens and buildings are being neglected. It is worth a visit to see the variety and to experience something outside of Accra, but it is a shame that not more effort is going into the upkeep.

We went here while on holiday in Ghana. There are a vast amount of stalls to do your holiday shopping at. It was great fun having a go at price haggling with the artisans. There is a cafe for a much needed cool drink. I thoroughly recommend visiting here if you get the chance.

Constructed by the British and reclaimed by the indigenous peoples. This can be a day trip from Accra or a stay in Aburi itself. The community is welcoming and there are some cool, fashioned watering holes for those who fancy a beer or cider after their day. There are two great restaurants in the actual gardens and some increasingly conceptual artists attached. The view on the drive up the incline is breathtaking!

Nice and calm atmosphere for relaxation. Aside the partying freaks that come around with loud sound systems, it's an ideal destination for your deep meditation and solemn reflexive moments.

Nice place for 2-5 hours stay with kids or alone. A lot of shadow from high trees. Soft drinks, few cafes. Great green nature and few abandoned objects for one lime me 🙂

It was very refreshing visiting the arboretum. Some of the artifacts needs repairs work on them. The old helicopter and the stones summer hut. Faded signage needs repainting and re-inscribing

Be careful, the men on duty at the entrance will try to make you pay a different entry fee from what is posted on the official website. I also find it strange that you have to pay a tour guide 20gh per person, I would have thought it would be a fixed price regardless of the number or persons. Anyways a beautiful garden with alot of history. We had an educative experience and lots of beautiful background for pictures.
