I have not slept at this hotel yet but I was there for an event and had lunch. The buffet was good. Tables were well spaced in adherence to covid protocols. The food was generally nice. I personally enjoyed the salads and the barracuda i had. Beautiful place with a good layout. I didn't experience very pleasant staff though I guess it is because I did not have a lot of interactions with them. So quite a good place. I will try to spend a night also to experience how in house guests are treated

I enjoyed my stay. The hotel is somewhat centrally located to most places you'd like to visit if you're visiting Ghana with family. We enjoyed their food, both local Ghanaian dishes and others. The wakye is truly fantastic, good for people with large appetites as it comes with little sides of pasta, salad, and fried plantain. The apple pie is nice, too, but pretty small. It's a desert anyway. Breakfast was good. It had a decent variety that can be improved on. I stayed here for 4 nights, and yam was only served once. The pool is always clean, sometimes even warm. There's a tennis court and a trainer who can train you once you book a time ahead. Fun fact: The Ghanaian tennis trainer trained and lived in Nigeria for over 20 years.

Another wonderful place to stay in Accra. Great location and service. The staff are amazing helpful and truly wonderful. The food was amazing except if you have no spicy palette. There are many sites to visit in a walking distance The downside is with the rooms being small

📍 @accracityhotel Lunch is served. Looking for a space to rent for your next conference meeting? I recommend you book with Accra City hotel. All that’s left is to book a room and the review would be complete. A preferable hotel for foreign nationals as it is in the Center of town and has many event centres close by. The Accra city hotel affords it’s guests a touch of Ghana in its capital, good food and customer service at its best . Thinking of where to lodge your Yanke family and friends this Christmas, look no further than here. Affordability at it’s best . New articles on the website. Don’t say I didn’t tell you 😉 tap on link in my bio to read and don’t forget to leave a comment Something new is up on the site do check it out and leave your comments as well as share

This is a great place to stay in Accra, all the facilities are outstanding, from the reception, room, delicious breakfast, pool, gym and of course the kind crew at the entrance and the reataurant. Highly recommended, book your room with breakfast.

Attention to customers was lacking from the waiters. My table waited a long time for the welcome drink and when it came it was for three out of seven The rest never came. We had to fend for ourselves. At certain times you couldn't spot a single attendant in the whole big hall to becon for a service There was seating congestion so movement was difficult. The chicken light soup was a bit too thick for its name. Thanks

    - They are currently renovating the pool and use another hotel's pool. They have a schedule to take a shuttle to the other hotel. However, the other hotel's pool is poorly maintained and very small. When I wanted to take the shuttle my first day, I came 5 min late and they told me that I could not go since the shuttle had apparently left and I would have to pay to enter the pool if I took a cab. I later found out that there was no shuttle that went to the other pool that day. The next day, I came much ahead of time but I had to way 50 min to take the shuttle to the pool but was disappointed by it. - Reception staff are kind of rude - Food is highly overpriced. The buffet options don't change much by the day, lunch and dinner are similar in menu. The food is also not great for the excessive price you pay. I would suggest eating elsewhere. The worst part is breakfast brunch doesn't include coffee(!!!). This has never happened in any international restraint I have been in before. - Please bring an adapter for power outlets

My relationship with the Accra City Hotel (formerly The Novotel) goes way back. In 2010, while living in Ghana, I was invited to be a guest coach at a local basketball camp held at one the city’s most prestigious private schools. Unfortunately, I got food poisoning from some bad Waakye, and ended up being infirmed for several days at Ridge Hospital. Eventually, once discharged I booked a room at the Novotel, where an in-house doctor took excellent care of me. 12 years later, I was once again in Accra, this time with friends, who were visiting Ghana for the first time. When one started to feel ill, I quickly made the decision to book rooms at the Accra City Hotel. As my friend recuperated our stay extended from one night to two, to three…to six, in large part due to how remarkably comfortable hotel is. During our stay, we were thoroughly impressed with the recent renovations, the helpfulness/friendliness of the staff, and the quality of the food and drink at the bar (did I mention they have Club on draft?!). Going forward for any future return trips to Ghana, there is no doubt that I will be staying at the Accra City Hotel.

I have a very great experience with Accra city hotel. Stayed there for 7 days and 6 nights. The food system is also of good standard. Staff is very polite and decent. Rooms are luxurious. They have a gym, tennis court, swimming pool. The services they provide are the best.

Neat, Lovely ambience, friendly staff n good food..only ensure u go with an extension cos the room has only 1 charging socket which was frustrating for a room with 2beds. lots of mosquitoes outside sake of the abandoned pool so ensure to cover body ooh!.. overall i enjoyed my stay in Ghana 🇬🇭

  • 4/5 Brian U. 1 year ago on Google
Stayed overnight. The room was actually ok. The bummer was not having a travel adapter for the socket by the bedside (not the traditional 3-pin socket). WiFi was ok. Edit: Extended my stay to five nights. The breakfast buffet (which is US$20 and actually paid for by guests based on your lodging choice) was ok. I was not pleased the airport shuttle cost US$10. I don't know of any hotel that charges guests for airport shuttle. I am tempted to remove 1 star. The fire alarm kept tripping on. It was a daily occurrence and it happened once at night during my stay. It was weird to be the only one coming out to the muster point while the hotel staff behaved like nothing was going on. Almost as if they do not know how to respond to a fire alarm. (I am still tempted to remove 1 star) The staff were very pleasant, well all that I interacted with, except one who was slightly rude. The hotel is currently being renovated. I hope it'll improve on its already nice environment.

I visited for a conference in December 2022. The conference room we used was spacious and had 2 sets of doors for access and egress. There were no incidents. Lunch was included for the conference. The kitchen was able to make massive takeout packages for those who could not join the buffet. My bag included proteins, carbohydrate main meal, fruits, salad, dessert and a soft drink. Looking forward to enjoying their buffet lunch or dinner in the Christmas season.

I had dinner at Accra City Hotel. I must say the staff are very polite and welcoming. Their yam balls are probably the best i have ever tasted. The food had variety but not as much as other hotels. Their jollof was absolutely delicious and so as well. The restaurant was quite small and a little cramped but the food was on the whole 7 out of 10.

My husband and I arrived at the hotel at noon right from landing at kotoka from US on Christmas day 2022. We were made to wait unnecessarily with all our luggage in the reception because check-in is at 1pm. However, a gentleman was allowed into his room because he's white?! Those attendants at the reception are racist! They treat black people with contempt and others of different race exceptionally well. I witnessed this. It was Christmas day, December 25th, so they didn't see my crazy side concerning their rude nature. They keep a straight face as if they have a problem with you. They need some serious training. All those women there! The one in glasses is the worst of them. The least said about them, the better! Guests must always check their account balance. We found out at the last moment we had been over charged for certain services like breakfast buffet and other charges the hotel could not give any tangible reason for which such deductions were made. The male staff are cool. The food, not the best and very little variety. The only plus was the room we chose, superior room. Very comfortable room but for the unfriendly female attendants at the reception and the wrongful deductions, we enjoyed our Christmas stay.

Great and a wonderful environment. With very humane receptionists like Pearl Allotey. She was very kind to me and my wife the first day we visited the facility. She was the main reason why we choose Accra City over the numerous lists of hotels we had in mind for our honeymoon. God bless all the workers there, you made our time a memorable one

Great Hotel, I did the UpGrade Suite! Worth it. Elevator with access only to room. Very Safe Environmen. Security Guard checks every vehicle coming on the property. Staff is wonderful. I booked this hotel just because of the tennis court, amified lighting at night too to play.

I will never stay here again. The hotel is old and disgusting, and it's not safe to stay here. (I was stalked by a male employee.) There's hair and dirt that's accumulated in the corners of the rooms. The flooring of the rooms is basically plastic-coated matting (not carpet, not tile, not wood -- it's the most bizarre thing I've ever seen), and it turns the bottom of your feet black because you can't clean the floors properly. They were constantly sticky, so I had to wear shoes the entire time I was in my room. Ants were crawling all over the room -- on the walls and floors -- and were so many that I had to put towels on the floor so that I didn't step on them. I asked the hotel to deal with it (i.e., seal the massive gaps between the flooring and the walls), but instead they fumigated my room with really toxic mosquito spray that obviously isn't going to work on ants. The window of my room was completely sealed and not able to be opened, which isn't safe to begin with! It was a fight to get them to open my window to air out the room because my throat and eyes were burning from the insecticide. The staff at breakfast are rude and not helpful and it takes 20 minutes to get a coffee. The hotel allows too many outside parties/guests and it makes it impossible to get a seat at breakfast nor get any kind of room service. I ended up having to report a male staff person who kept knocking on my door after he memorized my room number and kept bothering me to "check on me," and kept asking personal questions and when I was going to check out. I felt very unsafe, but I wasn't able to move hotels because I was traveling for work and other hotels in the area at per diem rates were booked up. I travel constantly for work and have stayed at hotels around the world. I will never stay here again.

Stayed for a conference. A bit dirty and run down, generally, would not call 4*. Room had a moldy smell, someone spit in an elevator and it was just there in a corner, hotel staff tried at last minute to charge me an extra $80 for 'late checkout' (I had booked the whole night at regular rate, knowing i would stay late, so I would have been charged double). I also need an itemized receipt for work and they are refusing to provide it--they say the third part must do it, but the third party says the hotel must do it (and third party has a webpage that outlines the hotel's responsibility--plus it would be a nice customer service thing for the hotel to do). The WiFi was not good enough to take video work calls, maybe just my room (4th floor)--otherwise ok. The food was quite good (both at buffet and at their bar) and most of the staff was friendly and helpful when I was staying there. The location was good and easy to get taxis/ubers plus I walked to the national museum and the memorial park from there pretty easily.

The Accra City Hotel is in a great location within walking distance of many attractions in Accra. The buffet style breakfast had a wide variety of breads, peeled fruit, cheese, and hot entrees. It was also convienent to have complementary bottled water in the room on a daily basis. The hotel is gated and secure. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Accra.

Went for a buffet dinner, didn't get to explore the place though. Dinner was good in general however there was lack of meat, chicken and pork dishes for the buffet which I'd have loved and not much variety for dessert. Enjoyed it though, salad was delicious as well as the two soups offered. Sanitary precautions are well undertaken too.

Very interesting place, I must say. The plugs all made for double round pins, reception couldn’t help me get a multi socket or any solution. Air condition control and shower controls are just complicated with no instructions on how to operate Apparently, there’s an elevator for staff only without any indication or inscriptions as “staff only” yet the house keeping staff get really upset if you mistakenly use it (i tried explaining to them to indicate it as staff only elevator to avoid the confusion. Nice lobby, nice bar and nice restaurant, all spacious and clean. It will be really nice if some of the receptionists can be a bit warm, professional and helpful than they were. The room and bathroom are smaller than I anticipated, no spoons and no bath robe...(I asked housekeeping later for a robe, never got a spoon) They have complimentary malt and beer in the fridge which was really nice Location is good and COVID protocols were observed at the premises

I recently visited Accra and stayed in the Accra City Hotel. My experience was great right from the airport. There was a hotel representative waiting for me at the arrivals and facilitated shuttle transport. Staff were readily available to assist. The hotel felt secure and the wifi connection was good and reliable. The rooms were well equipped, complimentary bar, a desk and chair, safe. It was also in easy reach of most places which was useful considering the city traffic situation. All in all, thank you Accra City Hotel for the hospitality.
