A good place to connect with and experience nature. Come see nature, do the hike, survive the Canopy walkway, dare yourself to sleep in the tree 🎄 house 🏡, visit the newly opened Children's Park.

This is the entrance to the park. The park staff normally resumes at 9am but it is best to go early and enjoy a good view of the place. A visit to Kakum without going on the canopy walk way won't give you the full experience of the park. Morning times are often the best times cos the sun is not fully out.

Very lovely environment, friendly and well informed staff. Lots of local and cultural heritage arts. Restaurant served variety of dishes. A Great opportunity for young adventurers and old ones as well. Scary but fun filled canopy walk. Adrenaline filled. Lots of people to easily socialise with. Great and neat environment, with a picnic park. Well demarcated with sign posts all around. It's a great place to visit.

A must-see tourist attraction in the Jukwa area near Cape Coast. The canopy walk is the crowning glory of the Kakum National Park. So much excitement amidst enthusiastic and very friendly staff. You need to do this as part of your bucket list if you're in Ghana or you visit.

Kakum National Park is a home for nature lovers. Tour guards there gave us explanations on the economic, cultural, and medicinal values of plants and the forest 🌳 . It’s about Fifteen kilometers from Cape Coast is the serene, golden beach of Brenu Akyinim. There’s primary and secondary forest among others but my team on excursions opted for the canopy walkway and it was awesome and fun ✨🌟

Lovely serene atmosphere, no visible dangerous animals, but it's best to have a companion to do more snap shots because it is not safe to be doing selfies while walking on the hanging Canopy.

This is a rain forest, with various activities including hiking, bird watching, walking a course of rope bridges, and much more. If you want to see some of the wild animals, you have to do the overnight stay. We did the rope bridges, and it was fun, just to see how people react at something that's kind of basic. A good side trip, as you travel around Ghana.

The tourist guides are amazing. The take pictures and give encouragement when walking over the canopy walk. They advise people who fear the canopy walk to the left side of the canopy. The shopping mall over there ( shop) sells expensive goods. The annoying part is joining the long queue when buying grilled sausages.

It was nice, but quite expensive. Also you should book the walk in the forest, at the entrance, otherwise the guides will put the money in his own pocket.

Fees for foreigners with student ID is 40 cedis, adults is 60 cedis. Different for Ghanaian citizens. It's best to go early because many people choose to come at around 11/12. You get to see more birds and animals early in the morning or late in the evening. During the day, the only interesting thing is the canopy walk. For those scared of heights, this should help you tackle that fear. Male sure you complete all 7 bridges! If you're interested in buying some Ghanaian souvenirs like bags, clothes, artefacts e.t.c there are 2 shops that sell them. So prepare yourself in advance. There is also a restaurant in the park.

What makes Kakum park a worthy place to visit is the thrill of you get during the canopy walk. I also enjoyed fresh coconut during the hornet to the canopy which is a good reflection of the fresh insight you get when you encounter variety of botanical plants. I was surprised to know that during early morning visits there are even elephants that can be sighted.

It was a great canopy walk experience. A bit scary but worth it however it's sad that it's almost impossible to see any animals. Apparently if you want to see them you have to go there early morning or evening. I think they could create and expand the already existing facilities and include walks which allows people to actually see animals. For now it looks like a forest without any animals..not even ants.

If you're afraid of heights not for you! If you're adventurous and want to visit a tourist attraction, thus is for you!!! I'm adventurous but a few of the 7 bridges freaked me out, as I felt as if I was going to hurl over due to my height!!! At times I was literally bending down. The bridge rocks and the boards do creak on a few bridges... I rated it a 4 star as I would've like to seen some sort of safety protocol in place. I must warn you, before you get to the bridges you climb a significant amount of steps- muddy at times. I wore a beige shoe that I now have to toss. I seen folks do it with sandals, slides and flip flops. I really do NOT advise that you attempt this without full shoes and a crossbody for smaller belongings. Overall great experience!! Alyson

They rush you in and rush you out Don’t come here thinking you can look around and see birds or just hang in the park. When you arrive you will sit and wait until it’s time to walk with your guide. You will take a VERY HARD but short hike to the canopy. I was pretty bad tbh. Then you walk like 6 canopy’s in a circle and you gotta RUSH! No u can’t stop to look or take pictures. Then after you walk the canopy you MUST exit the entire park. There is nothing else to see or do. They have a night time experience if you want to be in the tree house. I can’t imagine what the hike to that would be. I’m salty I didn’t get to even sit and just look around or see the sights of the park. Really it’s not a park just a canopy / a gift shop/ and a eating canopy Oh and the ropes on the walk BURN YOU!!!!!

The entrance has been nicely upgraded and paved. There is a camera man who takes pictures of people on the canopy walkway and if you like it, it is printed for you. Canopy walkway needs to be spruced up a bit as a couple of them are a bit loose and adds to the scare-factor. Apart from that, I love the new look.

Kakum has improved on one aspect since last and that's the road to the place. Aside that it appears maintenance is poor. The washroom facilities were not up to scratch, for an international tourist attraction. Worrying. There is so much more that can be done with the place but it appears not much is being added. But if u are looking for a thrill the Canopy walk is definitely it. Advice. The place can get crowded on weekends so Monday to Thursday is better for privacy

Not suitable for people in pushchairs or who have difficulty in walking steep hills. You will be very lucky to be able to see one animal or reptile during the hot daytime. The walkway is very challenging, remember only 6 people are ment to be on a section of the walkway at one time.

The canopy walk, very terrifying but fun. A place to experience virgin Ghanaian Forest. And just as you are about to leave, pass through the local bush chop bar at the junction to enjoy some sweet Ghanaian Fufu and bush meat with fresh palmwine

  • 4/5 Okyere Bright B. 2 years ago on Google
Twas great fun... Of course the fear made it so. However, the maintenance of the park should be released to us.. I mean what's the assuredness that this park will be safer in the next 5-10 yrs more... Government of Ghana should place a little more attention on that park so it be more fun for more tourists. I recommend other activities be available to make the place lively. Thanks. All together it's a great place!

If you are doing a day trip to Cape Coast from Accra, you will mostly likely stop off here on the way back to Accra. The canopy walk is what this park is famous for. It is not for the faint hearted but extremely safe! You will walk across a total of seven wobbly bridges to experience the rain forest from above. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry only a small bag if you must. There is a small hike to the starting point. There is a restaurant on site and on the day we visited, there was meat skewers being grilled on the BBQ. Grab yourself a coconut for 2 cedis on the way back down from the canopy walk. Drink it all up and then ask the man to crack it open for you so that you can eat the jelly inside. Ensure that you have the correct change for the entrance fee!

  • 4/5 Josee G. 1 year ago on Google
The canopy walkway is amazing and well worth a visit. It gets very busy though and large groups go together. At times it sounded more like an amusement park then a rainforest! So don't expect a quiet, peaceful experience.

Loved walking through the rainforest. Wished we had been able to see some of the animals that resided there, but we were behind a group that was loud and scared them away. The guide suggested early in the am to see the habitat in its truest form- which is a note we'll follow next time. The guides were amazing and the elevated canopy walk was awesome!
