Okomfo Anokye Sword Site is historic site that is worth visiting. It is located inside Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) at Bantama, Kumasi. The tour guide was friendly. He answered every question. He has a good knowledge of the history of the Asante Kingdom. The planted sword is a symbol of Unity and Authority in the Asante Kingdom. I recommend this historical site to anyone who visits Kumasi.

A historic place to visit to learn know the history behind the 11 black stools, the sword, the golden stool and the history of Asante kingdom. It was a great lesson to know the root of our dynamic culture and asanteman as awhole. I enjoyed the lesson this morning and am blessed to be there. I must repeat this with a group to learn the history behind the sword and the history of Okomfo Anokye.

Part of a vacation tour to ghana, I heard the tales about the sword. The site was ok once you knew the story, it wasn't clear about empty liquor bottles near the sword until the guide explained.

Historic and unbelievabe, that sword was planned as a sign of unity by the asantehene leaders and it has been there for many years bcoz no one has managed to lift it even though it's only burried in ashes

Its an awesome site for hikes. Visited the place recently and there's a fall and more work needs to be done there. A lot of advertising too needs to be done. The unfortunate thing is that its difficult to site the animals. I've been there three times but didn't see the animals, just their activities. They do have quite a number of birds too☺

Okomfo Anokye Sword Site is located at the premises Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. According to history, the chief priest Okomfo Anokye who conjured the Ashanti Golden stool from the skies had a covenant with the chiefs and pushed the sword into the soil, he predicted that the site would be a place of healing. That was the main reason for building the Hospital at that particular place. It is believed that the moment the sword is uprooted, that will be the end of the Ashanti Kingdom. When you get there after paying the entrance fees, the tour guide welcomes you and offers you stools which you will sit on to listen to the full history of the Sword, the Symbols of the Ashanti Kingdom and so much more. The Ashanti Kingdom is enriched with so many cultural symbols and their meanings. #DelaAkafia

The legendary sword site. Right at the heart of Komfo Anokye teaching hospital. An easy place to site. Reception not so enthusing but not bad either. There are various pictorial displays of Ashanti culture and songs. Would be a good place to visit either as a group or individuals to enrich your Ghanaian cultural knowledge.

This spot is a lovely place to see unpolluted landscapes in Ghana. My partner and I went through a guided trek organized by the Moon and Star Guesthouse (guides are mandatory as per the sign, and it is good to support these hard working individuals who work to keep the park clean and free from poachers). We had a wonderful 3 hour stroll through the park (almost all flat) and saw 2 waterfalls (1 had water and the other did not). Strongly recommend to visit if in the region. If you arrive early enough, there might be a chance to see pangolins, snakes, and wild boars, but we did not see any.

Very congested hospital with tight security at the various entrances. The accident and emergency unit is more advanced than the common government hospitals that I know with a Special Ward unit that gives preferential private treatment for patients of high caliber and social class. They have a folderless system which makes it easier for easy accessibility of information by every department without interference. This also helps with easier and smoother transfer of patient data and history from department to department. One thing I don't like about them is how difficult it is to get a bed for a patient and to get a doctor to attend to patients at the special ward.

This site gives the history of the Asante people, their origin and uniqueness. One will learn the origin of the Asante people and their name. It's a must visit site as well as the prophecy surrounding the current location of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital

  • 3/5 TheMelaninEffect 2 years ago on Google
The Okomfo Anokye sword site is located in a small, clean, modestly decorated building within the grounds of the Okomfo Anokye Hospital. Unfortunately, the history of Okomfo Anokye and the huge bustling hospital cause the site to be somewhat anticlimactic. I was enthralled because I was already excited to learn more about this amazing man and mystical story. However, I can imagine the average tourist might find it subpar. Improvements can be made by; making sure the video is working, hanging all art on wall or display case, more animated and enthusiastic guides, perhaps subtle music in background and tourist items for purchase. If you are already in the area I would recommend you stopping by for the history of Okomfo Anokye and to see the second largest hospital in Ghana, but don't make a special trip just for this one site unless it has special significance for you.

The history and spiritism in this very simple site is very rich. It's not so much the scenery of the sword but the spirit within the place. It's located on the premises of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, whose construction was itself prophesied by Okomfo Anokye.

It's marvelous and tradition can't be taken from us, we are Ghana. Over 100years and a sword can't be taken out. Wow Well waiting for the coming of Christ to take it out

It is the place where Okomfo Anokye (thenFetish Priest who together with King Osei - Tutu created the Asante Kingdom) planted a sword on the ground to signify the unity of the Ashanti people. Till date, none or anything has been able to pull the sword out from the ground. The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital is located on the premises. It is a must see when you visit Kumasi or the Ashanti Region.

Is an attraction. It talks culture, is all about the Ashanti Kingdom. Is said when the sword is uprooted, that day will be the end and from time since nobody has been able to uproot it.

Easy access, a great history behind the sword, even if it's shrouded in myth and legendary.

It is an historical site. People from all walks of life visit this sword. It is rumoured that Okomfo Anokye, the greatest traditional priest to ever live in the Ashanti region, 'plantsd' this sword here. And ever since, nobody has been able to remove this sword from here. It has therefore been here for ages and a pride to the Ashantis. The teaching hospital is built around this sword, thus it's name OKOMFO ANOKYE TEACHING HOSPITAL. It was exposed to rain and sun for a long time but one could see no change to this sword. A nice structure has been built around it recently giving it a facelift. The place now is under 24 hour surveillance and is a tourist center. It is right at the center of the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Well, it doesn't really enthuse me, BUT, for history lovers, it sure does contain a lot of juicy info on the great Okomfo and of course, the Ghana remix of King Arthur and his sword.. Located inside KATH..

Great place to learn about history, similar story to king Arthur's Sword and stone that Noone else was able to remove, very informative

The tour guide was knowledgeable and kind. The facts he shared were intriguing and the pictures too. However this is place needs renovation and is not worth your money. It’s a very short tour like 10 mins or less.

It's a historic site with respect to the Ashanti people. The head of the sword was visible whiles the blade is buried in the ground. The site is guarded with a simple block work in a building.
