This bridge, also known as the Sogakope Bridge, with 650 meters, is the longest bridge in West Africa, and it crosses the lower Volta River from Sokpoe to Sogakope along the Accra to Aflao Rd. It is a great spot to take pictures either early in the morning or late in the afternoon. The bridge offers a great view of the Volta River and its size.

This same bridge is related to the Adomi Bridge by the same lake. This one is the lower Volta the other is the Upper Volta. One interesting thing about this lake is that there’s no pressure on the lake. The indigenes do not engage in excessive fishing on the lake. The people here engage in selling of bread, Abolo and Adordi with “one man thousand “. If you are a foodie, you must visit here.

Really cool Bridge betweet two nice towns. We spent a few days in Christies Guesthouse close to the bridge and walked around in the Towns. Very good stay for tourists also and great place to buy ceramics!!

Sogakope Bridge It is a multi-span multi-web T-beam bridge made of prestressed and reinforced concrete, and was built by two German contractors, A.H.I. Bau AG (Düsseldorf) and Held & Francke Bau AG (Munich), between January 1965 & January 1967. At 650 m it is the longest bridge in Ghana.
