Small little zoo, several exhibits were under construction. However, it was free and totally shaded. Only about a 30 minute attraction though. Pool next door but looked like you had to pay to get in. I probably wouldn't come back but we had some time to kill in Athens so it fit into our schedule great.

Great little community zoo. A cool little gem in the heart of Athens, and a fun place to take kids. Not a big exhibit, but still fun. Free of charge, but open to donations via their Amazon wishlist, QR code available at the park. There is also hiking, a pond, playground and community pool near by and a dog park currently under construction. Certainly worth a visit.

A charming, small zoo caring for native species that are unable to be released for one reason or another and a place we will be returning to, for sure. Otter, deer, turkey, owl, fox, black bear, alligator, tortoise, snakes... frog and salamander... I'm not 100%, but think that was everything. They are currently undergoing some renovation and building habitats, but still a great place to see. There is no admission, so consider making a donation!

Beautiful place with seemingly very happy animals. Well thought out design and it's free to visit. Very peaceful and quiet, and the enclosures were nice too. The otters dragged a small pool into the pond and used it as a boat it was funny. Like having your own personal zoo Atlanta without people breathing down your neck the whole time! If you're in Athens, give this a visit.

What do alligators and otters have in common? They all call Bear Hollow Zoo home. While we were there the keepers where in with the alligator, cleaning up leaves. There are hiking trails as well and bathrooms and a paved parking lot. We saw an owl while hiking as well as the owls in the zoo. The zoo’s paths are paved paths. A wonderful oasis near Athens.

I absolutely adore Bear Hollow! This is my second time coming and I love walking around and seeing the animals. The exhibits allow for easy viewing of the animals and there's plenty of information about them.

Very cool small zoo, definitely worth a walk. We saw animals in every cage, which is not always the case with zoo's. And it's free!

Such a beautiful and peaceful place for a family day. It's free to come and see all the animals and there is a spacious park area with a lot of picnic tables and a playground. I was impressed with all the benches to stop and rest, water fountains and wheelchair accessible all throughout the park and little zoo. Love this gem of a place.

Bear Hollow is a tiny little “zoo” housing rescued animals that cannot be released back into the wild due to their injuries. It is free of charge. If you visit their website you can read the stories behind each animal resident which helps put the entire experience into perspective. There are restrooms by the pool area. Several nature trails are available for those who enjoy hiking. This place was recommended to me by a local and I am so glad I took the time to visit.

We were at the zoo just after feeding so most of the animals were tucked away and napping but it was a nice place to spend some time away while we were waiting honor our pet to be cared for at UGA Veterinary Hospital.

Great place for kids to walk around and learn about the animals. The zoo area itself is small but we explored the rest of the park while we where there. There's a paved trail around a small where we were able to stop and feed ducks. The playground was cute and very close to the trail. Overall this place was family friendly and I definitely recommend, specially that it is free for anyone!

Great local zoo for kids and the family. They offer classes and events throughout the year. We love visiting. Admission is free but they have options to donate to help them continue their mission of helping these wonderful animals. ❤️

This is a sweet little zoo in Athens, and free! I recommend going when the weather is good (not too hot, not too cold!) because we went when it was a little chilly and saw about two animals. My kids were a little disappointed, but now we know! Good for a stroller with paved walkways.

Small but lovely zoo. Doesn't take long to make your way through, but my kids loved it all the same. Stop by memorial park afterwards to make it a longer trip!

We think it’s great that Athens provides the community with this little rescue zoo and nearby trails. Recommend not going near closing time like we did. Some animals were not out for viewing. Next time we’ll go earlier in the day so we can explore the trails.

We love this place we have come here so many times, but this time was special, we got to take my Nana (My mom's, mom) she had never been before and the crazy part is she doesn't even live that far. Her husband, my papa just passed away the day before we came, so it was good to get her out of the house and get her mind off of everything and a little family time. This was a great way to do it all the animals were out and I got to go in the reptile building for the first time ever it's always closed when I have come before... Also the pictures at the end of the geese are at the playground below the bear park. 4 generations in our pictures, My Grandma (Nana) My Mom, Me and My Daughter's!

This small zoo containing rescue animals is delightful. The zoo has recently done some decorative work, adding clever and attractive animal murals to the buildings. I could watch the river otters play for ages, and the black bear is impressive. A couple of the containers were temporarily empty, but that didn't stop us from enjoying a day out there. Kids will love this zoo. This zoo is free.

Cute little place to take the kiddos to see some native animals. And for free!

Nice place to visit and it's free but they will take donations. 2 large bald eagles, red fox, deer, turtles, owl, and other animals in Ga. Reptile facility was closed but did see a snake from the window. The alligator was unable to be seen because I guess he was staying in the cool water. Does have a very large swimming pool there for visitors and will take grandchildren back for that. Zoo area is very shady and cool. Also had picnic at Memorial park. Very nice. Enjoyed both areas.

This is a hidden gem. Totally FREE. There are not a ton of exhibits, but the ones that are there are pretty cool. They had beats, turkeys and eagles, an alligator, owls, snakes, and two otters. There were two women there who were getting the snakes out for a stretch and offered to let my kids touch them. They told us interesting facts about the animals and just took the time to be welcome and friendly which was appreciated. There is also a park and turtle pond right around the corner from it and the turtles are massive! Really cool stop.

Awesome place for having no entry fee. Many of the exhibits are empty at the moment but was a good educational experience for my 4 year old daughter.

Very cute little zoo! My 12 & 3 year old both enjoyed it. Don't forget to swing by the nearby pond to feed the ducks and turtles!

Fun for the kids, easy walking, good variety of animals found in Georgia, and best of all it's free! They were decorating for Halloween which the kids enjoyed too. Second time visiting, spent about an hour. Will come again.

It was AMAZING!! It's not like other zoos which are super big, it's a relatively small zoo but I believe that it's big enough to the point that by the time you walk out of there, it's enough walking for children. Additionally, the displays there are very nice. There is an indoor reptile building which contains different snakes and frogs. Towards the end of the zoo there is also these 2 super cute red foxes. I definitely recommend!
