I loved going to this zoo with a friend. There is a lot of walking and the enclosures were larger than I have seen in a while. The playground was massive, great food options and appreciated that the animal show was very educational. Also being a vet tech, I enjoyed going to the vet building and seeing the babies and a surgery that was taking place. The carousel was amazing as well, fun for all ages. The only downside I had, was there didn't seem to be many water bottle refill stations.

Visited the zoolumination exhibition. Very well laid out. Visually engaging. Beautiful colours. Great for all ages. Children love it. Could have had more coffee stands in with the hot chocolate, which was very expensive fir a cup of Swiss Miss! Enjoyed the visit with Santa. Photo packages exorbitant! Lovely to see some Christmas themed lights.

It's a really nice zoo. We thought it would be smaller, but it actually took almost 3 hours to walk.. The enclosures for the animals are beautiful. And the park is very peaceful with nice paved walking trails. Very accessible for those in wheelchairs or for strollers. The food was good and the service was quick. We had a wonderful day seeing all the animals. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. At the end of our day, we used our day passes towards an annual membership, looking forward to going back. You must have a reservation to get into the zoo at the moment, and I would recommend coming early close parking spaces fill up quickly.

We went to the Zoolumination. It was amazing. The displays were truly beautiful works of art. The pathways were well marked with restrooms along the way. Snacks and drinks were available along the pathways as well. This is definitely worth checking out. I've seen nothing like it. Do not miss your chance to see one of the best light shows ever created.

It was beautiful and clean! The views here were breathtaking. Probably the prettiest zoo we have ever been to. The only thing we would change is certain sections would only have one way in and out. Once you passed all the animals you had to turn around and pass them again to move on to another section. Would definitely go again!

Went on weekday. Not too crowded although lots of school groups. Was able to stay clear of crowded areas and work through to every area. Easy to navigate the exhibits. Plenty of shade. Most of construction is completed and better detour signs in areas under construction. Animals were active and easy to find. Park was clean and modern as were restrooms. Didn't buy tickets online as there is automatic parking charge added to price of ticket and took Uber. Online purchase does not give option to remove the parking charge. Bought tickets at entry, waited about 10 min in line to get ticket. Took about 2 hours to see all exhibits, didn't do any special entry exhibits that require extra fee. If participating in these activities expect to spend more time.

We love the Nashville Zoo! It has improved so much over the years in many ways - for the animals and for the visitors! A great place to bring your family and friends. I highly recommend buying tickets before you go, especially on the weekends. 👍🙂

Amazing place. Loved how quiet it was. Didn't hear any road sounds for most of the park. Expect to spend more time then you would think. We spent 5 hours there and enjoyed everything. The habitats looked great and all the animals looked happy.

I read some very negative reviews and was very skeptical about visiting but I'm so glad we did! It is an awesome zoo! My kids loved it, as did my husband and I. A lot of the enclosures are in an open environment and the animals looks content and well cared for. There are several things also connected with the zoo like 4D theater, dino trek, zip line, and a few other things (these things do cost extra but are very responsible). The food and beverages are of course a pricey but its to be expected. The staff were helpful and friendly. I will absolutely be visiting again while we are in town.

Very clean, good signage, exhibits are done well (most seem to have plenty of room and variety of terrain for the animals). Smaller than other metropolitan zoos I've visited, but with the construction, it seems more is coming. Very hot day, but there is an impressive amount of shade in the park, which made it pleasant. Grassmere, with the house and farm, is a nice added bonus, especially for adult visitors. I highly recommend the free tour.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Nashville Zoo! What a great place to see a huge variety of animals. We especially loved the swinging Gibbons and the sweet flamingos. The zip line was a must-do experience and we loved the carousel as well.

Very natural environment for the creatures. Food and drink is crazy expensive. Stroller rental available. Tickets are a little on the high end for a zoo but it was okay for our first time. Probably won’t return. We enjoyed the hands on exhibits where the little ones could pet animals. There is a carousel to ride for $2. It would be nice if the zoo path looped around back to the front gate. Could use more directional signs. There were no maps available.

My family and I always enjoy visiting. We have purchased annual family membership passes the past two years and have gotten our money's worth. Our kids also enjoy the rides. I highly recommend visiting. The zoo has been adding exhibits and making improvements. We recently got to experience the 4D theater. We look forward to what the future holds.

Really nice and enjoyable place. Kids will go crazy and believe me, it's not easy to convince them to return home 😆. We visited on weekdays, and still we have to roam for parking. It's quite a rush, but the zoo is well designed to accommodate the crowd. You can carry your own food inside, although the zoo has good refreshment joints everywhere. You need at least 3-4 hours to cover the whole zoo. Tip: I will suggest booking tickets online, and the website mentions Adventure Pass as an addon, which, as per me, can be skipped. Attractions related tokens can be taken at very place.

This is a very nice zoo. It was well laid out. Everything was convenient and clean. It was not overcrowded, and there were plenty of exhibits. The margaritas were quite tasty also. The price was fair and buying online was convenient and allowed us to avoid the love at the ticket booth.

There aren't any adjectives I know that can properly describe the wonders here. The animals are obviously well cared for and cared about. They're truly magnificent. Beautifully displayed in large enclosures. I listened to several fascinating lectures in front of different exhibits. Very cool. There are clever snack and drink stands throughout the park. Including adult beverages. We had an amazing time! Actually, it's the best park I've ever seen. I have seen many in my 66 years. I am truly grateful for the visit and the day I'll never forget.

Great zoo, took about 3 hours to walk through. They take good care of their animals. The zoo is well maintained. The men's restroom at the entrance has a snake enclosure in it (rumor has it), the women's restroom by the bear exhibit had a nice exhibit (I don't recall the name of the animal). We visited right before Halloween, they have boo at the zoo. They had been setting up for the illumination since June which runs from November - February

Visited during the light show for the holidays. It was beautiful! Took about 2 hours to walk through the whole thing. If you don’t read everything and walk a little faster you could probably finish it in half the time! Took a while to get in because of the line into the parking lot. They had some snacks for sale as well as some drinks. And nice restrooms. Great family activity!

My wife and I decided to take our first trip to the Nashville Zoo, and it was so delightful. Seeing all sorts of endangered species of animals being well taken care of was the best part. The Zoo was laid out very well with the paths only being one way and staff were continuously cleaning. We weren’t able to see all the animals due to it being colder the day we went, but that was to be expected. I’d highly recommend the Nashville Zoo to anyone that loves animals and nature!

Good to have a place open to take our 2 year old who loves animals. Every one was abiding to the mask rules. Walkways are one way. All the zoo employees were also cleaning surfaces and doing things correctly. Even the merry-go-round/carousel was cleaned between each ride. Some exhibits closed but it is fall. Lots of walking. Bring a stroller for the kiddos and rent a electric wheelchair from the zoo if you need one.

Loved the Zoo. Weather was perfect and some amazing animals! The kangaroo exhibit was amazing. Never expected to get to touch a kangaroo. Amazing! Would definitely recommend it to anybody! Snacks and stuff was over priced, but can carry a cooler in with you. Plenty of places to rest and take a break at. Truly wonderful trip!

What a beautiful zoo! It's like a lovely walk in the woods with animals in little glens. The habitats are designed so you can really get up close without feeling like they're in cages. I got to pet a kangaroo!! All the animals looked healthy and happy with clean places to live amongst trees and ponds. I only got to see less than half because it was so hot (cooling stations were a brilliant addition) but I'm definitely coming back when it's cooler!

I have been to quite a few zoos and this was by far the best zoo I have ever been to. The enclosures for the animals were very large and perfect for each species while giving people the best view. This zoo made you feel like you were stepping into that part of the world with the attention to detail! 10 out of 10 would recommend!

This was a great little zoo. I was personally impressed by the care given to each animal and exhibit/habitat cleanliness and care. This zoo was immaculate. These were the healthiest most active animals I've ever seen at a zoo..(Particularly the tiger..healthy beautiful coat, not skinny like many zoo tigers are). The herpaterium/aquarium house was also immaculate. These habitats were so well cared for. Please keep up the good work!! You guys are doing a phenomenal job.

Animals? Check. Bamboo forest? Check. Playground? Double check. We have a pass and go all the time. The kids love the new playground. There’s also a merry go round and zip line. My youngest likes the red panda best.

Loved this Zoo!!!! I love how they trained the bamboo to provide shade as you stroll through the Zoo. The exhibits are awesome. The animals are well cared for and it was a joy seeing the Zebras and ostriches. We also loved the Lemurs. I also loved how they had refreshment stands and fans conveniently placed throughout the park since it was extremely hot the day we visited.

Love this zoo. The exhibits offer views from several different angles so you have a better chance of catching sight of the animals. Most of the zoo is shaded so even though it was over 90 degrees out, it felt comfortable walking around. They are doing some construction but it looks like it will be amazing addition.

Small zoo with great exhibits. Many of the enclosures have different vantage points so folks can observe animals easily. Ample seating and lots of shade makes this little zoo very accessible for young children and elderly patrons. I went in the morning and all of the animals were active and noisy! There were zookeepers with animals along paths offering up close, hands-on education. I was able to spend over 4 hours observing and reading. It was a very enjoyable way to spend an afternoon! You can bring your own water bottles and there are fountains and refill stations throughout if you don't want to purchase extras. Gift shop prices were reasonable and had something for everyone. A great little zoo all around!

Very enjoyable to see the animals in habitat enclosures. Lots of shade plus informative plaques to read about each animal. Can get very crowded on weekends but everyone was nice and having a great time. The different geographic areas were easy to walk along to view animals of the world. Food is delicious 😋 Hot 🥨 , nachos and they do serve alcoholic drinks. Good exercise. 🤗 The Giraffes and Red Pandas were not on exhibit and was a little disappointed. Also charged us 8 bucks for parking with no heads up on that. But it was all good. Nice day showing visitors to Nashville. 🦒🦏🦓😊

We love the zoo! It is so fun and clean! We really enjoyed the food! It was fresh and priced affordable! We loved the flowers! The kangaroo walk through area is so cool, you get to touch them and get to close! And the goats was a ton of fun! They have buckets of brushes so you can brush them ! We are now members!

A lot of the typical exhibits were closed. No giraffes, elephants, gorillas or lions. There were a ton of birds and other tiny land critters. I wanted to show my child animals we read about in her books about the zoo. Huge disappointment. They charge $10 for parking.

I live in Nashville and this was my first time visiting in about 5 years. WOW, how she has grown. I can't wait to come back in 5 more. It doesn't feel like your traditional zoo. It feels like walking in the woods with animals scattered about. I suggest going in the morning on a weekday to avoid the crowds. Be sure to try to catch the flamingo march. They were decorating for Boo at the Zoo which is a must if you have little ones. They have an event in the winter called Zooluminations which is phenomenal. When my children were little we had a family pass. It is so worth the money. The play area is huge and a great place to spend a couple hours to run off some energy. It is small, but they are expanding everywhere. The jungle loop looks to be almost completed. Hurry and visit the baby clouded leopards at the veterinarian center.

Went for Zoolumination with the family. It was great for all ages! Park closed at 4pm, re opened at 5pm so everything was at night. Beautiful Chinese style lantern displays. They were giant!! Super colorful lights all over, kiosks, the cafe and restaurant were open. The food was much better than expected. We hot pizzas, sandwiches and a pasta salad. There was a co-zipline you can sit in for 2 people to ride. Very inexpensive as well. The flamingos and tiger viewing area was open so we got to see them. The lizards, amphibians and fish in the Unseen World exhibit was open as well!

Good zoo, especially for a family outing. Convenient location with plenty of free parking. Nice animal exhibits especially of the elephants and the bird house is nice. Over the years they have added a few rides which kids will enjoy. If you go at least twice the zoo membership is worth it as the membership is about the same price as two visits.

The zoo is gorgeous. They obviously take care to give the animals ample space, in appropriate settings, and beautiful walkways between exhibits. My only concern was with the large amount of people not wearing masks and obviously coughing and sneezing right next to us and our kid. If we're getting temperature checked to go out to eat, the zoo could do that too.

Was really fun. Exhibits were open really good with variety of animals. Animal show was nice as well. Little bit of long walks. All the animals were out and lively. The eagle ride was awesome. Food and drink are expensive , take advantage of them letting you bring a cooler and just buy the little snacks if needed.

My son kept begging me to get the membership so we could come back again. He loved the carousel, the train, and all the animals. He asked if we could have his birthday party there. My daughter loved the chair ride. I loved having the birds land on me. We didn't get to see all the animals, but it was nice that we could get close enough to see them. We enjoyed petting the goats and the tortoise. I was annoyed that the map of zoo wasn't updated to take account of all the construction and detours, and there were no signs to direct us where to go. I was also annoyed with the exorbitant prices of the food. It was like I was in Central Park again with the tiny bottle of water for $5 (no working drinking fountains) and $5 cookie. At least they allow you to bring in outside food, so that's what I'll do next time.

Decent spot for a birthday party! Staff was nice and helpful. Unfortunately it was rainy and cold during our visit. Also there were a lot of exhibits not open. Soaring Eagle ride took up most of our time because only one of the rides were operating. Locations of bathrooms were awful. The birthday party location was a very far walk from the restrooms. Overall ok visit, but would’ve been way better if the zoo was running as it should be

This zoo was awesome! The animals were great, so many different kinds to see. My kids loved the kangaroos and the flamingos were mine. The only down side it was so hot and they had only 2 fans flowing hot air. A small sprinkler system would be cool.

The Zoo is very pretty and has plenty of seats and tables all around the park. They do sell soft drinks, beers and food. The Zoo had many animals that you don't see in all zoo's like pink and white flamingos, porcupines. I was very impressed with the Zoo!

This was a great zoo to visit. They had a few animals that many zoos don't have. The habitats were very inclusive and it reminded me of being in Disney sometimes. There are many different view spots to see the animals and nothing was over crowded. We saw Dino Trek while we were there my kids loved it! All if the dinosaurs moved and they also made sounds. They have a kangaroo walk about and if a kangaroo is on the path you can touch them. We enjoyed getting to spend some time with these cool creatures and some 9f the moms had their Joey's in their pouch which was a unique experience to see in person. We usually spend about 2 hours at a zoo but this one we easily spent the day at. There was enough to do and a lot of places to eat a snack or lunch at in the shade. They have family bathrooms so no one has to be separated or crammed into a smaller stall. Overall we had a blast at this zoo, if your a zoo member in another state check and see if it is part of the AZA, if so you can get 50% ticket prices at the ticket booth which helps out greatly! It was $29 to get in for my family if 4.

What a perfect day to see this zoo... It was overcast and cool temp. a rainstorm did blow through, but it made the trek through the deep forest like paths really great! I contemplated posting a bunch of photos, but it would not do the park any justice. These great creatures must be seen in person! I will post one of the beautiful swans in the lake though. Enjoy the park!

This was our first time visiting Nashville Zoo, we travled over 2 hours from Kentucky to check it out & we had an amazing time! We bought tickets online the day before because of what we seen on the website and naturally, we had tire troubles and were over an hour and a half late. They still let us in to have a great day even though we missed our "planned" time slot. It seems like that was covid rules, but people were still able to buy tickets at the booth if you didn't purchase online ahead of time. They had plenty of parking even though it's under construction. It was $123 for 2 adults, an 8 year old and a less than 2 year old. Included in that was 4 adventure day passes/bracelets where you can zip line, ride the carousel and train, etc. There was also an $8 parking fee. Overall, I would recommend checking them out !! If you have kiddos, the playground is AMAZING! My babies were whooped at the end of the day!

It was busier than I expected it to be, on a stormy day. We always enjoy our zoo and having a membership gets you little discounts on snacks and purchases. The tiger was out, the kangaroos were lively, and the new komodo dragon was bathing in the stream. The zoo is beautiful and they're always working to keep it that way. We also got to see a live show, where the zoo keepers show off some wild animals. Very cool!

Great zoo. Worth the membership. It takes hours to go through the place, and every time we go, we seem to find something new even though we've been several times. There's a petting zoo for the kids, a play area, and you can go into the kangaroo enclosure and pet them, which is so awesome! The zoo is big, beautiful, and the enclosures are so well kept, the animals look healthy and happy. It is a great, family place to go waste a day away at. I highly recommend it. It is definitely one of the things that will be missed now that we have moves from Tennessee.

Went here before flying back home after our visit. What a way to end the trip! They graciously held our bags safely while we explored. We live 1 mile from the Smithsonian National Zoo in DC and this one was better! Interactive so we got to feed flamingos and pet kangaroos. Very clean and even saw a 4D movie. Best part of our trip to Nashville!

Not the nicest zoo we've been to by any stretch - we've been to a couple that were worse - but it was decent... They do have some unique features we haven't seen other places, like the kangaroo petting, which the children enjoyed. Bummer that you have to wear a mask EVEN outside and when spaced way apart from other families on the one-way walking paths, though. Seems pretty extreme given the local mandate doesn't even require masks outdoors when distanced from others and even Fauci says outdoors and six foot apart from others is safe. I don't think we'll be back to this zoo until they drop that requirement. We went because we heard they were struggling during the pandemic, but I see why, now. It wasn't a good enough zoo to put up with such strict mask policies, especially with small children who don't understand along. We might do it for some of the other zoos we've been to that have more to offer, but not this one. 🤷‍♀️

The Nashville Zoo has an interesting variety of animals; some of which I've never seen in a zoo before (such as guinea pigs). Nonetheless, it was a fun experience. They have rides as well and the gift shop has excellent products.

A small.zoo that had a lovely carousel and a zip line. I enjoyed walking around and seeing the animals. Saw some giraffes and a few birds at a closer distance. Other animals stayed farther out of sight.

We had a great time at the zoo 12/30/20! Even with covid precautions in place it was easy to navigate the park and the kids loved it.

This place was awesome. We went after 1pm to take advantage of a deal. $30 for three people. The place was not very crowded, which was nice. We got to see all the animals we wanted to except for the red panda, but he was in for the night. We understand. I'd definitely recommend this place if you're in the area.

I went to the zoo today with a group of 10 (7kids & 3adults). I was very happy with the way they had barriers up to have people coming or going a certain way. Also everyone waa wearing a mask & they had hand sanitation stations everywhere. It also wasn't packed like it usually is. We had a great time!

I LOVE the zoo and normally, I think the Nashville zoo is fantastic but right now, they are charging full price and a majority of animals are indoors. I would recommend waiting until spring to go but if you need to just get out of the house and walk around, hit up the Nashville zoo.

We went on a cold weekday and several of the animals didn’t want to head out on exhibit. Even with that, the zoo was a great experience. The animals were really well taken care of and seemed happy to be there. We were there around feeding time and you could see the bond the big cats had with their keepers. The zookeepers were very friendly and informative about the animals they were caring for.

The Nashville Zoo may not be the biggest zoo in the South but it’s perfect for the Middle Tennessee/Nashville area, which has so many outdoor activity options for families. They have an Andean bear, tiger, cougar and other species that you’d want to see. Parking is so spacious that you’re never fighting for a spot. They have timed entry with the COVID-19 pandemic, which is not a big deal. When the indoor wildlife exhibit hall is open, that’s a real treat for the kids. Put this on your list of places to visit when you’re in Nashville.

Smaller zoo but worth it! The way the layout flows from exhibit to exhibit was perfect for our 8 and 5 year old to spend 3 hours exploring. We went during covid times and felt safe and although I'm sure some spots were closed it didn't seem like we missed anything. The kangaroo exhibit was amazing - we were able to peg them and saw joeys! We will be back again!!

the zoo is a "liked it" four star place, but the experience when we last went was three star "it's okay" at best - too many exhibits were under construction and not accessible at the time. There is a bit of construction going on in the asian animal area. If anyone wants to enjoy the best Christmas light, should go to Toledo zoo. No doubt, they won award for the best lighting. As winter season is here, you will get to see less animals. They were very concern about wearing mask all the time and they made it sure everyone wearing it properly. I got bit confused about map at first but they had been very helpful.

Always a great place to visit. Lights before Christmas at the Toledo Zoo are absolutely beautiful. Great family fun, or great date night. Went for the first time during zoo lights, and it was very pretty. Everyone was masked which was great. Lights were great. It got crowded as the night went on (arrived 4pm). There were not a ton of animals, but we got to see an eagle, owl, Huskies, and 2 giraffes. Not worth it with a crabby infant and 2.5 year old with a 1 hour drive, but would recommend to someone with older kiddos and less of a drive!

  • 3/5 Tina W. 3 years ago on Google
For my first zoo trip I wasn't impressed! Due to covid-19 alot of things were closed, only taking cards no cash! Masks were being worn and safety guidelines were followed. Overpriced for all the stuff we didn't get to experience. We liked the kangaroo best. It was a rainy day. Seems like they'd take better care of maintenance issues too. Oh yeah there are monkeys in the girls bathroom by the bears. No sign.

  • 2/5 Michelle M. 3 years ago on Google
Honestly the worst zoo I've been to. Did not see any animals in the 1st hour we were there. We walked the whole zoo and saw maybe 4 or 5 animals. It was more of a yuppy mom's walking park than a zoo.

  • 2/5 Joseph P. 3 years ago on Google
This zoo is mediocre at best. If you are looking to see gorillas, lions, elephants, grizzly bears, polar bears you will not find them here, however you will find a nice guinea pig exhibit. If you want to see a real zoo go to the Memphis Zoo it is amazing.

  • 4/5 Tom T. 3 years ago on Google

Not a bad zoo, the grounds are very well kept and the landscape is very nice. However, the animals here are lacking compared to the Memphis Zoo, Louisville Zoo, and Zoo Knoxville, which are all a few hours away from Nashville and all have much more exotic animals like elephants, great apes and big cats. There's also just one viewing area for the African Savannah exhibit, so if all the animals are on the other side of the field, you're out of luck. Still, this zoo provides a nice day's worth of adventure if you're tired of the bar scene in the city.

Ages 2-12 $14 13- adults $18 Parking $8 It took about 2 hours to see everything and visit the gift shop. This place offers handicap parking, but lacks handicap bathroom, and changing tables.

Was really good, but not great. I don't think it's there fault. There was a lot of stuff that was being built, like a play ground and other stuff. Overall I would go again after all is done.

  • 4/5 Momma J. 3 years ago on Google
Normaly I would give 5 stars, today was more like 3.5. I will boost it to a 4 as they were very fastidious about cleaning the carousel between each child and they have a clear plan to keep traffic moving in one direction. Many exhibits, or our favorite exhibits, where not open. The Unseen World which houses reptiles, amphibians, and various fish is closed to the public. Maybe I got turned around but I didn't see an elephant or a habitat for them anywhere. They were also filming in various spots, which kept us from being able to see the tiger. Question: Why wouldn't they film in the morning hours before the zoo opens? especially since it's spring break week. Someone dropped the ball there. Also, the playground is closed! 😐 Just a little disappointed this time as we had out of town guests and both of our kids missed out on alot. I paid $75 for two adults and 2 kids. I wouldn't have minded if more things were open.

  • 4/5 Julian 3 years ago on Google
It was a nice experience for the money ($18/person). It's easy to go through the park in 2 hours. It's smaller but a nice morning or afternoon experience for the family.

Great Nashville amenity. Both the historic homesite and the zoo itself are nice. Cool opportunities to interact with some of the animals, like the kangaroos.

Would have been a five star but it wasn't as fun as it was a few years ago, a lot of the enclosures are closed, which made the experience kinda boring.

The zoo is always cool. Due to covid they have several things shut down and one way traffic to help with precautions. The recent ice storm damaged some areas apparently and they were closed off for repairs. Still a great place to kill a few hours with the kids.

Awesome zoo with plenty of room for the resident animals.

  • 4/5 Robert M. 3 years ago on Google
I love this zoo. One of the coolest parts is the Old farmstead that’s on the grounds. The animals are usually easy to view and they have multiple angles to see most of them. Today I got to see the walk of the flamingos as they parade around other parts of the zoo.

  • 4/5 Jenee 2 years ago on Google
It was a pretty good place to visit and take your kids. They have some exhibits and some animals that I've never seen before. Overall cool place.

  • 4/5 Brittany R. 2 years ago on Google
Decent zoo. Some areas there is a lot of walking with nothing to see or do. Plenty of food options. The bathrooms are pretty nice and clean.

  • 4/5 Moira L. 2 years ago on Google
I would have given it five stars, but for our first experience it was incredibly crowded and people/kids weren’t paying attention to ANY signs (like don’t break the bamboo, don’t throw money in the water…). Not to mention people would try to blatantly disturb the animals, or just walk right into you without a care. Just *really* wish people would be hounded more for doing the wrong thing here. Animals have feelings just as much as we do. Please just respect the rules of the zoo and those around you if you’re going to go.

Had a fun time at the Nashville Zoo. Price of admission was budget friendly. We were able to see most of the animals.

  • 4/5 Nathan S. 2 years ago on Google
We had a great time at the zoo, the critter exhibit was closed, and pretzels with cheese are $7, but that seems pretty typical of zoo markup. The paths are well maintained, and extremely scenic by using bamboo forest. When you're on a path a lot of the noise from the zoo is dampened due to the growth. We'll definitely be making a return trip, but be prepared to shell out a couple hundred dollars if you intend to buy anything beyond tickets to get in, when we went nothing was cheaper than $5 (an 8?oz cup of cotton candy) and souvenir stuffed animals ranged around 25-35 . Beanie baby sized toys were around 13. The experience was worth it, but more of a once-a-year trip rather than a regular weekend experience.

  • 5/5 Barb M. 2 years ago on Google
I love the Nashville Zoo. The employees are friendly and knowledgeable. It's really clean and they are constantly upgrading and bringing in new exhibits. I especially love the bear and tiger areas. I do wish there was a little bit better variety of food to eat but I got an Italian sandwich there and it was good enough that I'd go back for that alone. I don't understand why the did places close way before the zoo does but again, very clean and friendly. We will continue to be members there.

  • 5/5 Katie C. 2 years ago on Google
Love this zoo! The walking paths are great and provide lots of shade. If animals aren’t in direct sight, they’re not too difficult to find if you look. Good is expensive like any other place, but they allow you to bring in your own food and drinks and have a lot of picnic areas to enjoy.

  • 5/5 Ryan S. 2 years ago on Google
A very nice zoo which is well kept. I was actually surprised at the meticulous and lush landscaping that they have throughout the park and exhibits. The animals were active and bright. They have a excellent Red Panda exhibit and Andean Bear exhibit. We had so much fun that we bought a membership so we can come back and continue to explore throughout the year.

  • 5/5 DJ G. 2 years ago on Google
Well worth the visit! We'll maintained and operated zoo! Vast array of animal species too see and activities to do! Definitely would recommend the zipline! Will be visiting again!

  • 3/5 James B. 2 years ago on Google
Man for a major city zoo I was thoroughly disappointed. I did like the old house and the historical information. The zoo was a decent size too. However, they lacked animals to see. The paths aren't clear. I wouldn't recommend this zoo to anybody, save your money and time and go other places. For reference I've been to the Buffalo, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Bronx, Memphis, Toronto and Riverbanks zoo's.

What a fantastic zoo. You feel like you're in their habitat. Clean as well.

  • 3/5 Jennifer M. 2 years ago on Google
I do love the zoo but it doesn't have many animals. There's beautiful landscaping and your kids will have fun if they are fairly young. I think admission is expensive compared to the really big zoos I've been too. It's a nice way to spend a family day but I feel like admission should be a little less since big zoos have about the same admission price. St Louis Zoo is free... The staff is great and truly helpful. If there were more to see or the admission was lower I would give it 5 stars. I understand they need the money to maintain the animals and property though.

This was on our Road Trip list as a must! I'm so very glad we did.. It was $50 for my husband & I & that included parking completely worth every penny. This place was so much fun for any age. They even have a section where you can pet Baby kangaroos & a petting zoo area. Peru was my favorite with all the awesome Halloween decorations. This has got to be my favorite zoo of all zoos I've visited. I would get there as soon as they open for it fills up fast!

We love going to the Nashville zoo! Every time we're in Tennessee we go. We even bought season passes. I especially love that they serve margaritas, fun treat for adults! It was terrible during covid when they made everyone wear masks.

  • 4/5 Tiffany M. 2 years ago on Google
We had such a great time at the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere! Was disappointed that we couldn't go into the building with the fish and frogs, though. I'm not sure why that was, whether it's covid or they're changing it up. Still, had a great time!

  • 5/5 Brittany S. 2 years ago on Google
Loved it! My spouse and I had such a good time there! All the animals were so cute, and it was nice to see that the Zoo kept animals in if it was too cold for them. It shows that they care. The decorates for Halloween were witty and cute.

Wonderful experience! We are members of the Cincinnati Zoo and try to use our reciprocal discount as often as possible--great deal. We stopped at the Nashville Zoo during a long car ride. It was our 3rd or 4th visit in as many years and the best visit yet. We arrived as the park was opening. The kangaroos are active in the mornings and the flamingos were also taking a stroll.

We have an annual membership so not sure about cost of visits. We really enjoy just walking around with the kiddos, all ages find something to enjoy. Had a great time at Boo @the Zoo again!

  • 5/5 Ashley B. 2 years ago on Google
It was $40 for 2 adults and parking but honestly the amount of exhibits and buildings was great and the enclosures and animals seemed active and happy and the entire place was super clean. We spent 3 hours walking the place and saw all but 3 animals (which is crazy since it was on the chilly side today). Looked like they were expanding by at least 3 more exhibits and a mention of a boat dock in the future per signs around. Would definitely revisit if ever back in the area!

  • 4/5 Andre M. 2 years ago on Google
Wow, I was pleasantly surprised at the number of exhibits and hands on activities. This was my first time ever seeing a kangaroo in person, and being allowed to pet them was amazing!

  • 5/5 Isabelle S. 2 years ago on Google
Had a great experience at the zoo. Great for kids. They seem to be improving and expanding parts of the zoo. Loved the giraffes.

  • 4/5 Cornelius T. 2 years ago on Google
Some of those animals look like they need to eat some more and some of the birds look like they're freezing what? Other than that, it's okay. It's a good place for a nice day

Really liked the different vantage points to see the animals! Liked that the plants were labeled. Did not see where there was handicapped parking. When we walked toward the entrance no parking spaces I saw had any sign.

Went with my niece, partner and sister. Was disappointed with how much construction was going on. But the property was clean and staff was friendly. Exhibits were really cool.

This was such an amazing zoo! The whole family loved it! I highly recommend planning a trip there when visiting Nashville! You won't be disappointed. Also the gift shop was so big! There is something for everyone in there.

Amazing natural feeling habitats...the craftsmanship and thought to detail was impressive! We went in January with no expectations it cost us $30 to get in, including parking. It was totally worth every penny.

Enjoyed visiting this zoo. Had a lot of upgrades in process so there were a decent number of exhibits closed. Would love to go back and see the new exhibits. Was able to pet a kangaroo which was definitely a highlight.

2nd grade field trip to the Zoo! 5 stars if there were a few more exhibits...you can see just about everything in 3 hrs. But still fun and my 8yr old wants go back.

Lovely! Animals are in excellent condition, enclosures are large. Highlights: Clouded Leopard, Tiger and Cougars. Lovely cold beer available (bring Identification) They do have a restaurant available. Lots of other animals including Rhino. Lots of beautiful birds for the bird lovers and even some Bats. Very impressed with their breeding rehabilitation. Well worth a visit! They also have animal shows with birds and critters as well as their resident sloth (not part of the animal show)

  • 5/5 Sharon K. 1 year ago on Google
My husband and I loved our visit! We loved the variety of animals and had a couple of unexpected VERY close encounters with some of them! The only thing that could have made our visit better was a paper zoo map, or large "you are here X" type map signs throughout the zoo. An app was available, but staring at our phone was exactly what we didn't want to do at the zoo. Overall a great day though! Definitely recommend!

  • 5/5 Chris S. 1 year ago on Google
We visited the zoo during the Christmas holiday and while many of the animals were indoors or secluded due to the cold weather, we really had a pleasant visit. It’s a very nice walking zoo in a small location. We then returned in the evening for the Zoolumination event and was blown away by how beautiful this was. We will definitely become members. This is a very well designed and thought out zoo.

  • 5/5 Corey S. 10 months ago on Google
Bought our tickets online and had the barcodes scanned from our phones. It saved a lot of time and was really easy! We spent the entire day exploring this awesome zoo and we still missed a few things! It wasn't too hot out and all the animals were very active, which made it even more fun! We all loved that there were so many trees everywhere and lots of shade. All the kids in our group, as well as the adults, had an awesome time! We will absolutely come back the next time we can get to this area.

  • 5/5 Mike D. 10 months ago on Google
One of the best zoo's in the Southeast. The displays are awesome, all natural, not just grass, rocks and concrete. The animals on exhibit are not just pacing and stressed. They seem relaxed and comfortable. The walking paths are shaded and wide enough to handle the flow of traffic. I can't say enough about the Nashville Zoo. It will not disappoint!

  • 3/5 Quanetta G. 9 months ago on Google
I was not impressed. It was my daughters birthday and her first visit to this zoo. First to help me feel better…my daughter was like mom I was happy for coming but this was not a great experience. If your interested in seeing Monkeys, reptiles, or birds…you will we pleased. Elephants, giraffes, lions or tigers….unfortunately not. We made the best of it but we will check out other zoos.

  • 5/5 Kim C. 9 months ago on Google
We've been members for years! The kids never get tired of going with all the extras! Zoolumination, Dino Trek, Boo at the zoo are regulars for us. On days we go for the new playground only.... Animal shows rock, the interactive short films are always fun, love catching the flamingos doing their walk thru the crowd, I could go on and on. We spend 2-4 hrs every time we visit, you can bring your own snacks and drinks.

  • 5/5 Gabbie J. 8 months ago on Google
The zoo was awesome! We went around 9 am so the weather was beautiful, it wasn’t too hot out yet. Myself and my family really enjoyed it and even though we aren’t kids, we still had a wonderful time. The staff was friendly and ready to help and the animals were beautiful!

  • 4/5 L C. 8 months ago on Google
Great zoo! The kangaroos were amazing to watch and the staff was so knowledgeable about them. There are a lot of shaded areas and walkways, which was great on a hot day. They are renovating, so the rhino/giraffe area was closed. We asked a staff member for directions and they pointed to a sign and said “go scan that code” and walked away; maps at the entrance would be helpful!

  • 5/5 Myriam P. 8 months ago on Google
It is one of the best zoos we ever visited. We could not see all of it due to the rain, but we enjoyed every bit. The girls loved getting close to the Kangaroos and being able to pet them. They have several events year-round. We can't wait to visit again.

  • 5/5 Anna 8 months ago on Google
This Zoo was so much fun. We went as a group with some friends and had a blast. Being able to pet a kangaroo, and most of the animals were quite active when we were there as well. I would definitely suggest going on a day that it's overcast or at least a little cooler.

  • 5/5 Andrea S. 8 months ago on Google
As someone who lives closer to Memphis and frequents the Memphis zoo, I can say I prefer this one much more! Today was my first visit, and I will be returning. It just flows better. There's lots of natural shading, green and healthy looking surroundings, and the animals have plenty of space! The animals here appear healthy and well taken care of instead of stressed, sickly, or pacing back and forth. The workers here actually engage with you and offer to educate you. It makes you feel very welcomed!

  • 5/5 Kristi 8 months ago on Google
Great for all ages! Shaded walkways with misters and some indoor exhibits help beat the heat. Concessions and Cafe. Nice gift shop. Artfully planned. Can be knocked out in 3 hours at a leisurely pace. Get there early for good parking, better weather and more active animals.

  • 5/5 Michelle J. 8 months ago on Google
I love the convenience of this zoo. It’s also smaller and tends to be less crowded than larger zoos which is another plus for me! They did a great job with their new Komodo Dragon, Tiger, and Andean Bear habitats and THEY HAVE A GUINEA PIG VILLAGE Y’ALL!!! They currently require everyone to buy timed entry tickets online in advance due to parking space being limited because of construction. I didn’t find this out until I was in the parking lot but that was my fault. Moral of the story - plan accordingly 🙂

  • 5/5 Mary Alton L. 6 months ago on Google
Perfect as always. This is the best treasure in Nashville if you ask me. We had a blast. Absolutely love the exhibits even though I was sad that the top floor of the aviary was closed. That's my favorite part. Well, the tigers are my favorite part. No, maybe the flamingos. Yes the flamingos are my ultimate favorite part. I think I need to get a membership so I can go all the time again. Absolutely love this place and if you have not been you really need to go. They have spent so much time making it an absolutely beautiful walk through. The animals seem happy and content. The keepers are very friendly and informative with the kangaroos and birds. Highly recommend for families, couple dates, kid excursions, and senior outings.

  • 5/5 Matt C. 6 months ago on Google
The additions they are making are great! Love the Eagle ride that they put in. For those who don't know, it is a Zipline that pull you up above the trees and then let's you soar back down. Everything was clean and the animals seemed happy with their enclosures. I've been places where they were not so happy. They're building a parking deck too, so that's going to be great. Highly recommend! If you're military, you have to buy tickets at the gate.

  • 5/5 Eve C. 7 months ago on Google
Really great location with a lot of different types of exhibits. They have multiple spots where you can actually go interact with the animals, both with goats and kangaroos. We went on a Saturday and it wasn’t over crowded and easy to navigate. They also have a set of moneys in the women’s bathroom which is hilarious. Prices for food and drinks is outrageous, but that is expected. Would definitely recommend.

  • 5/5 Cayla M. 6 months ago on Google
This zoo was better than we expected. The enclosures were beautiful and the animals seemed well cared for. I recommend this zoo for anyone who has a few hours to spend. My only negative was that we didn't find the giraffes or rhinos, but they are doing some renovations. We will be back for sure.

  • 5/5 Cruising with the C. 5 months ago on Google
Great zoo, kids loved it. Parking is a mess right now as they build a new parking garage but when it opens it will be awesome! You can get a big discount if you have a reciprocal membership card from another zoo or museum!

  • 4/5 Don S. 4 months ago on Google
Interesting zoo to learn from. Because Nashville has warmer weather than Chicago and the north, you get more warm days to enjoy the zoo. The food places tasted good and just about all of the exhibits were open in mid-November which is winter season. The zoo offers good angles for photos and movies.
