They have beginner classes, kids classes, womens classes, all level BJJ classes, fundemental classes, and No-Gi classes. 3rd Degree Black belt Pantcho is the head coach. He has selected an amazing team of coaches that assist in teaching and assist teammates during class with technique. Professor Pantcho is THE best Jiu Jitsu coach around! He teaches all levels of Jiu Jitsu. He's great with kids and adults. He not only teaches all levels, he teaches top competitors and competes at the highest levels. Great gym that is clean and huge. Most places don't even have half the mats as checkmat Murrieta. Excellent layout with plenty of seating for parents. Great instructors that are top notch and patient with kids. Students from this gym do well at competitions which is a testament to the coaches and gym.

Owner and staff are great with our kids, who are brand new to the sport of Jujitsu. Definitely recommend to families as an extra curricular activity for their kids. If my schedule permitted, they'd be here every day. Update year and a half later. Still a great place. Very busy these days. Only my eldest continues to attend as it helps to hone his competitive nature.

I honestly cannot say enough good things about Checkmat Murrieta and Checkmat Murrieta Exclusive. Professor Pantcho (the owner) treats everyone like family. All of the professors are absolutely amazing. Everyone is always so welcoming and unbelievably willing to help teach every person that walks through their doors. They do not mind if you are a seasoned grappler or if you have never even set a foot on a mat. They accept all levels, and will spend countless time and effort answering questions, as well as trying their absolute best to help you improve and perfect your game. I truly would not recommend any other academy to start at or to continue your Jiu-Jitsu path with.

I came from a different gym, skeptical about switching instructors. As a blue belt, this was the best decision I could have ever made. Not only do you get to join all the benefits of becoming a Checkmat team member but you get one of their best instructors. You also get top notch training from your teammates that immediately become like family. I received my purple and then my brown belt under Pancho but I also received 5 competition medals. I have done more in this sport than I could have ever imagined due to the environment this gym provides.

Checkmat is very a very welcoming and friendly environment! Since the first day of class I’ve had nothing but good times and have improved my BJJ game tremendously. I have been training Jiu Jitsu off and on (with some big breaks in time off) for nearly 20 years. I have relocated for work many times and have trained all over the country. With that being said I was so glad I found Checkmat Murrieta and started training under Pantcho. I received my brown belt from him and I could not be prouder to represent him, his team and Checkmat. The entire gym although made up of killers on the mat has been welcoming and friendly since day one when I stepped on the mats with them. This is truly a school with no egos, just a bunch of dedicated Jiu Jitsu practitioners of all levels. Pantcho is a phenomenal teacher with a technical knowledge well above most I have trained with in the past. He is completely dedicated to his students and gives himself fully to support everyone in their journey, whether they are an avid competitor or just looking to stay fit and learn the art. My son who is 6 trains in his kids program and loves working with Pantcho and his coaches.

This is one of the better schools I've been to. I used to work for FloGrappling and have met and trained with black belts from all over. I travel a lot and have visited dozens of different schools around the country. Pantcho is an awesome coach and just an all around great guy. Pantcho is one of the most loveable guys you'll ever meet in jiu-jitsu. His instructors are top-notch and are great with beginners and kids. You'll feel right at home here. I unfortunately moved again but plan on making it out to the open mats when I can. Thanks Pantcho for being awesome. Hope to train together again soon!
