The Santa Monica Mountains Visitor Center is in the former Stables for the ranch is very well done and has a wealth of information about the Santa Monica Mountains but many people may not realize this is two seperate things or areas, IMO. The King Gillette ranch house and the functions are seperate from the visitor center. Make sure you go to the center first and explore all the information available about the area. Then after viewing the museum (and getting some souvenirs) go walk the grounds of the ranch house. The house was closed but looking in the windows is has been updated in the past and some of the remodeling was not in the best interest of the house. Very nice grounds surround the area but the house should be restored to its former glory. The swimming pool is still lovely but the connection to the house has been lost. The fountain off the wall in the back had deteriorated and fallen off the wall but you could tell how it used to be. Of course restoration would cost a lot of money but potentially an investment that would result in many more donations and rental opportunities. Finally, you should go out on walks and hikes and do things outdoors to truly appreciate the depth of the value of this conservation area. While there the Rangers, caretakers and volunteers were setting up for the Halloween festival which looks like it will be a lot of fun. The holiday celebrations are well suited to showcase a drive through of the house grounds. Really an enjoyable "must see" venue.

This is a must stop if you want to get some nice hiking in around LA. This is also where you can hike in to see the original site where they filmed M.A.S.H. Did the hike just after it rained a lot, and that caused a lot of flooding and we were not able to make it all the way in. But the hike to where we got, was still great. There is the century dam that when we went caused a small waterfall. They do charge to park in the parking lot. $3/hour or $12/day. But we’ll worth the money.

"Nights of the Jack" is good old family fun during Halloween month. Recommended wear your costume, dress up the little kids and wear your walking shoes. You'll be walking at least 2 hours. They have pumpkins carving, face painting, psychic reading and food truck, ect.

I’ve only been here for special events and not during the day to visit the park insert. Great location for Night of the Jack and Holiday light installations. Parking is in a field that’s semi-smooth. We like to drive in from Mulholland which is a more scenic drive than the 101 and usually cuts traffic turning into the parking lot coming from other direction. Drinks are pricey and so-so at the two bars but fun to try once. Great location for kids and groups of kids and their parents leading them through place!

Ranger Scott and the facility are pretty awesome here. A pretty decent combination of trail, open area and a variety of wildlife native to the area. If you are in the Calabasas area it is worth a visit for a couple hours or so. They are very strict with their open and close hours so come after 8:00 a.m. and leave by 5:55 p.m. 😁👍🏼

My friend and I went to the Rose Day LA held there. The event was decorated very well as the pics will show but there were definitely a lot of things very wrong at the event. The parking situation was pure chaos. The grounds were uneven & the grass was dead. I have been here before so knew to wear proper shoes but many woman wore heels, wedges and platforms. Lots of almost fallen & stuck in dirt ppl at this event. There was supposed to be a famous chef to provide food plus a dessert table and nothing was present. Food trucks were there but not very friendly outdoor on a hot day kind of food. Oysters & poke, really? The Rose wasn't cold which everyone knows it should always be. The bathrooms available were great and clean. For a $175 this event was absolutely NOT worth it. IMO don't makes promises you can't keep. Consider a refund for the inconvenience?!

We have visited the ranch for the nights with Jack show. It was impressive and amazing. May be a bit too much but still great. I definitely recommend.

Great recreation area for 1 to 2 mile hikes on trails, or strolls on paved walkways. Beautiful views from Inspiration Point after a moderately steep climb. Still a few flowers in bloom even though it's July. Clean rest rooms are a bonus.

Walking at King Gillette Ranch during the day and seeing the Halloween decorations was a fantastic experience. The attention to detail and the effort put into creating a spooky atmosphere were truly impressive. It felt like a great Halloween event, and the decorations added an extra layer of excitement to the visit. It's a wonderful place to enjoy both nature and seasonal festivities.

We went for the pumpkin carving festival... Very beautiful and clever. Definitely kid friendly. It took about 45 minutes to walk through it.

Went for the Halloween event, Nights of the Jack. Nice easy hike viewing pumpkins in all different views. There are pumpkins, lights, music and even bubbles. Lots to see and enjoy.

First time at this place and it was worth our drive from orange county California. Hopefully next year we can go at night time and get to see how amazing it looks in the dark. During the day it's free entrance and parking.

Went for Holiday Road and it was so much fun! In the winter it could get colder than expected at the ranch so it would help if they had more heaters

Jack of the Nights was a fun, spooky walk throught experience. Family friendly with lots of photos ops. Multiple different scenic themes with something for everyone. The specialty mix drinks were well made and tasted great. Lots of food trucks to choose from.

Always love a nice walk through the Ranch. Especially when they host "Nights of the Jack." Staff did a great job keeping everyone safe and healthy.

Lowest price you can get is 30 bucks.... i think it's worth checking out once so you know if it's something you want to try each year, more of a family friendly vibe with plenty of bar area for the adults, also its not scary at all.... its more like if u picture a museum exhibiting pumpkin art and its all outside .... wear something your ok walking around a farm, also if you have a open minded date... it can be a good date night spot, the exhibit takes 30 min to walk through if you rush... i strolled and took an hr

A true hidden gem! One of the best places for a family walk, bird sightings and picnic! I love the grounds there and the silence and serenity of it. I just wish they didn't change it for Halloween or Christmas. The decorations are gastly, and disturbing to wildlife. The fact that they do it for profit makes it worse. I give the 5 stars to the park itself. It has parking inside and easy access.

Beautiful light show! Wear your rain boots or some old shoes you don't mind getting dirty. After all this rain, it is super muddy.

Great for date-night or with the kids. Got cold, so bundle up. Foods and drinks are a little pricey $$ They do have award winning food trucks though.
