Wish we could have caught a worship service. We watch via YouTube all the time. Their ministry is such a blessing to our lives!

I'm a second time visitor. I came here in September and November of this year. I just had a baby. I'm displeased with the lack of amenities for maternity. I'm a nursing mother and I've had to nurse and change my baby in the choir room in September and the restroom in November. This is uncomfortable and unsanitary. Being a mega church, I'd expect them to be fully furnished with a nursery. If I come back a third time and there's still no nursery, my family will not become members here.

Love my church! Pastor Wesley always has a good word. If you are a member of the church and in need, they definitely do their part to assist you. Also engage in activities and efforts to help the community.

Bring your tissues! A transformative service experience, every time. The Rev. Dr. Howard John Wesley is a prophet of our times! His messages always leave you with something to think about and increase your sense of awareness β€” of others and yourself. He breaks down the Bible in way that anyone can understand. The way delivers his messages makes you reflect. He preaches love and life into you. Sometimes tough love, but never intimidating or shame inducing. Think going to church and receiving a therapy lesson. Alfred Street Baptist Church is for everyone but it should be noted for historical context that it’s the oldest and largest Black Baptist church in Alexandria, VA. Come early to get seats in the sanctuary! Services are at 8AM and 11AM but they are subject to change so always check the website. The best part about Alfred Street, you can attend this church from wherever you are. All services are live streamed via YouTube!

My home church...always wonderful things happening here. The pastor knows the Word & delivers it exactly how I like it - clear, concise, direct & intellectual

Spirit filled and hope centered. Alfred Street is a very special place to worship. With its rich history of being built by slave in 1803 and to its community outreach in these modern times, Alfred Street can not be replaced.

The morning prayer! I love joining with people all over the US and praising and thanking God. Every morning Monday through Friday at 7Am someone is on to lead us in prayer. We lift up each other the sick and family members. This gives me strength and courage. God is so Good!! I appreciate Alfred Street Baptist church.

My family reunion members came to church service on August 7, 2022. We came from Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, New York and Miami. We totally enjoyed the service and the sermon.

A historic Black church, since 1803, that's considered a "mega" church based on membership but has a small church feel. All things Alfred Street Baptist Church are excellence personified: the preaching, teaching, singing (choirs & praise team), serving the community (ministries), and giving (tithing the tithe back into the community)

Wonderful historic black church. Pastor is an awesome leader and church members love him to. Always has a word from God and keeps us on our toes and causes us to think. Great church and offers activities for the whole family. Definitely, come by to enjoy a great service and get prepared for the week and its challenges.

Very loving atmosphere. I was there to see a play; however, I do catch their service at 8 am very often. Pastor Wesley is a great preacher/teacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I'm excited to visit this church I've been watching for almost a year. Finally, a visit from Texas arrived at 10:30 am for 11 am for service. I was so disappointed πŸ˜”I got there and was sent to the basement to watch on t.v. Parking was across the street from the church. The sermon was good. The Holy Spirit convicted me for my attitude. It's a long trip to not sit in sanctuary, and the church was not full. Thanks be to God that I was able to visit and return home safely.

This church has solid biblical teaching and a welcoming environment. We had to walk a couple of blocks to the church so arrive early to secure parking. It was a great service and I will go back.

My husband and I were vacationing in Maryland. The church service was awesome. God's spirit was definitely there on Sunday morning. The choir was on FIRE as the old folks use to say they sang so good the walls were shaking. I love to worship there whenever I visit the Maryland/DC area.

People always claim that you have to have money to attend this church. I have NEVER gotten that impression and I certainly don't have the funds to be considered well off. But I do love the friendliness of this church, the pastor is amazing. I recently joined the dance ministry and I absolutely love that as well.

Was new to the area and came for Sunday service. Was rejected because the church was "full". Cannot consider this institution a center of Christian Worship based on this experience.

I attend the outside service up in Columbia, MD, great venue, a little chilly but the Sermon made up for that. Next time I am in DC I'll definitely visit the church.

This historic church and our Pastor, the Reverend Dr. Howard-John Wesley, is a beautiful environment to experience the presence of God on earth.

This is a nice show, but lacks substance. Shouting and screaming can be entertaining but overall is an affront to basic human decency. They think the bible is actually an infallible word of god, so they are delusional as well. I would not recommend this as a reliable place for any kind of counseling or spiritual enlightenment.
