Sarangapani Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Vishnu, located in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, India. It is one of the Divya Desams, the 108 temples of Vishnu revered in Nalayira Divya Prabandham by the 12 poet saints, or Alwars. This temple is along Kaveri and is one of the Pancharanga Kshetrams. The temple is believed to be of significant antiquity with contributions at different times from Medieval Cholas, Vijayanagar Empire and Madurai Nayaks. The temple is enshrined within a huge granite wall and the complex contains all the shrines and the water bodies of the temple. The rajagopuram (the main gateway) has eleven tiers and has a height of 173 ft (53 m). The Potramarai tank, the temple tank, is located opposite to the western entrance of the temple. Sarangapani is believed to have appeared for sage Hemarishi. The temple has six daily rituals at various times from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., and twelve yearly festivals on its calendar. The temple chariot festival is the most prominent festival of the temple, celebrated during the Tamil month of Chittirai (March–April). The Sarangapani Temple in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, India, is a divine haven that exudes spiritual energy and serenity. Visiting this sacred abode with family and friends from New Jersey was a deeply fulfilling and blessed experience. As we stepped into its hallowed precincts, a profound sense of devotion enveloped us, transcending worldly concerns. The intricate carvings and sacred rituals performed within its walls transported us to a realm of divine grace and transcendence. Amidst the soul-stirring chants and aromatic incense, we felt a profound connection with the divine, and our hearts overflowed with gratitude and reverence. The Sarangapani Temple is a sanctified sanctuary where one can seek solace, divine blessings, and find peace in the embrace of the divine presence.

The Sarangapani Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Vishnu, located in Kumbakonam. It is one of the Divya Desams, the 108 temples of Vishnu revered in Nalayira Divya Prabandham by the 12 Alvars. The majestic rajagopuram of this temple stands 53m tall which is one of the tallest in Kumbakonam and the temple's architecture is a treat to watch if you have an eye for art. The perumal here takes the anantha sayana pose and there is no Swarga vasal here unlike other perumal temples. The temple's premise is neatly maintained and there is parking facility which makes it easy for us to park our four wheeler within the temple complex (charges - Rs 50). This reduces the hustle for us to find parking in the nearby busy Kumbakonam city streets.

The Upapeetam and Adhishtanam of the Sarangapani temple in Kumbakonam in Tamilnadu. Due to the raise in the road level some portion has gone below. Wonder whether there's another Upapeetam. The gopuram has 11 tiers and a height of 173 ft.

It's the 12th Perumal Temple of Divyadesham series located in Kumbakonam, TN. The main Rajagopuram is so huge and finely curved. The architecture is awesome. One of the ancient temple of Lord Vishnu besides the river Kauvery and the highest Vishnu temple in Kumbakonam and has the tallest temple tower in the town. The temple rituals are performed each day on particular time. It is open in the morning and evening as well. As it's in the township area many shops are available nearby and can be easily reached. Very happy to visit this temple.

Amazing temple. Probably 2000 years old Vishnu temple in Kumbakonam. Narrow roads lead to this ancient temple. The priests are very helpful. Definitely visit this historic temple with beautiful architecture. Found the chariot type design of the temple very interesting.

A beautiful vishnu temple. Full of art (stone). Peaceful temple. Temple is in main heart of Kumbakonam city. I put only two photos only. The devotees go and see the real art or sculpture during this temple visit.

One of the important temple in the holy temple town of Kumbakonam. The main gopuram is magnificent. The carving at every level are beautifully crafted, and lively The long corridor leading to main mandapam takes back to the ages before. The presiding deity Lord Saranga pani is in reclining position. The little dissatisfaction I had of unable to see Thiru Ranganath swamy at Sri Rangam is fulfilled here. I bow my head at the priests, who are worshiping the God with so devotion. The temple is worth a visit who don’t see heart about it. Please take your kids also to the great temples and impart the love towards our religion.

This temple car (தேர்) of Sarangapani temple, Kumbakonam. Taken on 4th May 23. With its majestic looks and with people's devotion and fervor, it's moving graciously. I am very blessed to be in Kumbakonam that day. It's interesting to see those bulldozers adding force to move the massive car!

Sri Sarangapani temple is the largest Vishnu temple in Kumbakonam and the tall gopuram towers over the surroundings. One of the major attractions of the temple are the large twin chariots which are driven around the streets by hundreds of devotees during the festival in April - May. The chariots were getting decorated ahead of the festival when I visited and the entire area was getting ready.
