This is Ali Pashe Tepelena's Castle. He is an Albanian politican in otoman emire time who defend and reunite Albanians land from the ocupators, one of the greatest Albanian. For he, Lord Bajron writes a lot of history and fact and for the Albanians traditions

Interesting coming from a country with no castles but even this one is in a state of dishevellment inside the walls. Wander the exterior and imagine the grandeur. Berat Castle has a much finer example of housing within the walls.

Ok to visit if you are stopping at Tepelene as we did during our road trip but it is nothing special It is rather an old city wall /fortification than a real castle like Gjirokaster castle.

Tepelene Castle's rugged charm and historical significance make it a hidden gem for travelers. The castle's imposing architecture, coupled with its commanding position overlooking the landscape, provides a sense of stepping back in time. Exploring the fortress offers a unique blend of adventure and cultural immersion, making it a worthwhile stop for anyone exploring the region.

Huge castle remains but mostly only the outer wall is there. Some private residences inside and it is undergoing restoration efforts. It is located next to a big park with a beautiful church and very laid back. There is also a pedestrian area a couple blocks long, I would recommend make this a lunch stop on your way from Vlore to Gjirokaster if you are taking this highway.

I got family there. So I sleep on the main boulevard. They renovated a lot here. It's becoming very nice. It's worth to visit a day.

Nice view but all. Nothing to see in this city. There is no castle just stone wall with some houses inside. Very ugly.

Ruins more than a castle, still inhabited. But the view and the church next to it are worth the travel

Located in the center of Tepelena with an amazing view of the river and the surrounding mountains. The walls are well preserved and built with amazing architecture. No tickets to visit! Friendly walking place for every age. You have an amazing view as well and the air is so fresh due to the wind from the mountains. We did stopped on the way from Gjirokastër to Vlora and definitely was a great destination. Albania has so much to visit in a very short drive for every type of vacation. Definitely recommended!

Nice view but that's all. There was only a stone wall with some ugly houses inside. Nowhere was the famous castle of Ali Pasha. Very ugly thing we were very disappointed!

Actually, the only thing that is left from castle - wall, and inside it there are a lot of modern houses where people live :)) But bridge + view on the river near the castle - really beautiful. There is a long bike road along the river, you can just walk there and enjoy the views
