This is my favorite tent camping location. The tent camping spots are in the woods and much further away from each other than any other tent camping location, that I know of, on Long Island. Don't be discouraged when you pull in and see nothing but flat fields with campers. The tent spots are kind of hidden along the perimeter. They have a playground, a Picnic BBQ area, bathrooms/ showers. Ane the county offices can make or renew green key cards. The only down side is there are no reservations for the tent camping spots. But it's pretty rare for EVERY site to be filled up. You might have to walk a mile or so to the bathrooms for the further spots that are usually empty, but you'll most likely get a spot.

Nice 5mi woods loop trail, though not clearly marked vs the smaller off-shoot loops. Shared with bikes and hikers. Lots of camp sites. Bathroom exists, but is nothing fancy

Every time we camp there is a wonderful time kids get to bike ride without worrying about getting ran over bye a car...they drag big logs which they all take time to chop down bye hand to make fire..to cook food old ways and forget about civilization for a while no electronic just ourselves and mother nature and work and plan the next adventure for all the scouts

The park itself is nice. they have an open area were we bring the kids to fly there kites and ride there bikes. However even with my green key it cost 7 dollars to enter. I'm a suffolk county resident that pays over 11000 in property taxes and we still need to pay to enter the park.Thats just crazy to me. It's one thing to charge non residents. yet they have squatters that live in tents and campers no problem.

Stay on the gravel path for an easy walk, enter the Hiking only trail for a good "walk about." The hiking trail has been neglected but there are plenty of bike trails to wander on. And dog friendly!

This Campground is completely pitch black at night! Cathedral Pines has these coves for the tent sites which is great for privacy. The camper area only has 10 electric sites, but 84 more electric sites are supposed to be added eventually. Since Cathedral is a huge field if it snows or rains heavily, I some sites flood badly and the snow is a pain to shovel. It's called "The Wheat Field" by the regulars, because it turns into a big sloppy and muddy field. The staff in my experience at Cathedral has been very helpful and definitely try to help you if you're in need. There are a lot of trails you can walk, but they are really popular by bike riders. There is a bike pump at the bottom of the park. Cathedral has 2 dump stations. Everything is all scrunched together here.

Overall all the scout campgrounds are fine. Pros: The sites have plenty of room and privacy from one another. Went in October, there were no bugs. Cons: The Bathrooms are a decent walk and they can use a more steady cleaning and mirrors. The scout camp does not have water on each site.

Went to Grateful Dead music festival for 2 days. Great Long Island Bands just a super day of music, comfort (you bring your own) and all around friendly atmosphere. I wait all year for this event!! You can also camp out!!

Most of the tent sites are large and very private. Great for camping with friends and family. Can play yard games in the open field or bring your mountain bikes to take advantage of the trails.

I didn’t camp here yet but drove through to see what it’s all about. It looks like there are really cool hideaway areas for tent camping which is separate from where all the campers and trailers. If you want privacy and to be alone the tent camping areas seem to allow that.

Went for Jerry Jam and had a fantastic weekend of music, friends and food! The campgrounds are well kept and the RV Park is fine even if treeless. Good shower facility and restrooms help keep things fresh each day.

Great mountain biking trails that are well marked and well maintained by local volunteers. Location also offers camp grounds for those wanting a weekend getaway.

Great park, fun trails, lots of trail especially for mountain bikers. My group ended up hiking it. They have a variety of trails for most types of hikers from beginners to intermediate ones. The intermediate (black diamonds) ones will definitely get the blood pumping.

The park itself is great. The tent camping is great. But …… The bathrooms are disgraceful! Filthy, partitions are rust rotted and broken. The two small bathrooms doors don’t even close. The showers are gross. After going here for about 10years no work has been done on the bathrooms. You’re lucky if there is toilet paper! Shane on Steve Bellone for allowing this.

DO NOT GO HERE! Beautiful campground, However does not compare to the Negligence of duties from main campground office workers especially a woman office worker “Lydia” calls rangers on people camping here for false reasons regardless of physical proof threatening eviction and green key loss… my husband and I paid to stay on our campsite for 7 days and we’re told to leave a day early even after paying for all days and then screams at us in office saying she does not care and threatens our green key without looking at physical evidence of reservation and payment.
