My
good
buddy
and
I
did
the
BRUSSELS
CRAFT
BREWERY
TOUR
&
MEET
THE
BREWER
Tour.
My
friend
and
I
aren't
Belgian,
but
have
lived
here
for
half
a
decade
with
Belgian
partners
and
have
had
a
fair
share
of
the
Belgian
beers.
I
used
to
be
a
homebrewer
with
a
multi-keg/tap
system
and
had
considered
making
a
beer
pilgrimage
to
Belgium
in
the
past
simply
to
do
a
week-long
beer
tour.
I
give
this
background
to
make
the
point
that
this
tour
was
awesome
for
all
people,
no
matter
their
level
of
beer
knowledge/passion.
Liselot
was
our
tour
guide,
and
she
led
us
on
a
beer
adventure
around
Brussels,
to
places
we
wouldn't
have
been
able
to
find
(or
get
into)
ourselves.
She
shared
her
knowledge
of
beer,
history
and
Brussels
through
stories
and
explanations
throughout
the
tour,
and
did
a wonderful job
of
making
the
tour
interesting
for
everyone
who
came
(ex-pat
locals,
a
Japanese
man
who
was
on
a
beer
pilgrimage
to
Belgium,
and
some
fellow
Americans
who
were
not
'beer
geeks').
There
was
a
good
mix
of
structure
and
spontaneity,
and
Liselot
handled
it
all
with
ease.
Our
tour
ended
sitting
in
the
sun*
at
a
cafe,
across
from
a
really
nice
beer
bar
(L'Ermitage
Saint-Gilles).
[*just
to
be
clear,
sitting
in
the
sun
in
Belgium
is
a
real
rarity,
so
it
was
like
the
cherry
on
top
kind
of
thing]
Afterwards,
my
friend
and
I
actually
went
to
the
beer
bar
with
a
fellow
beer-tourist,
and
spent
the
rest
of
the
evening
tasting
beers
and
eating
together,
so
who
knows,
you
too
might
meet
some
fun
people
to
hang
out
with
on
the
tour.
With
regard
to
the
beer
itself,
we
sampled
a
full
range
of
Belgian
styles
of
beer
(oude
geuze,
saison,
pils,
blonde,
tripel,
and
a
quad)
and
if
you
win
the
quiz
at
the
end
you
can
choose
your
own
too.
As
a
drinker
of
many
Belgian
brews,
it
was
nice
to
discover
some
new
styles,
brewers
and
flavor
profiles,
I've
never
had
before
and
didn't
know
much
about.
Learning
the
history
of
beer
brewing
in
Brussels
(and
BE
in
general)
was
also
interesting.
I'd
highly
recommend
going
on
this
BXL
craft
brewery
and
meet
the
brewer
tour.
We
had
a
great
time,
and
appreciated
the
beer
adventure
that
Liselot
guided
us
through.
