This equestrian statue of legendary crusader Godefroy de Bouillon is located at the centre of Place Royale in front of the Eglise Saint-Jacques-sur-Coudenberg. This is the work of Belgian sculptor Louis Eugene Simonis and was erected in 1848. What you see is Godefroy crowned and in military attire, holding a flag while on horseback, setting off for towards Jerusalem for the first crusade. The monument stands upon a grand plinth and pedestal with impressive bronze bas reliefs. It is a fine monument to view before or after your museum visits across the square or when passing through this area of the city.

Well it is a big square that everyone constantly confuse with the law court or the biggest cathedral square. It is not. There is no need of tickets, and also there are no benches, nothing in the middle of the square etc. So a bit boring overall. Perhaps better viewed with a drone. A lot of heavy movement around the square with ni traffic lights.

It's quite an interesting square to walk around. Metro lines and cars also pass around the sculpture in the center, it gives a very unique vibe to it. Also, a lot of historic places around. A lot of main tourist attractions around this area are easily accessible within walking distance.

Koningsplein (King's Square) is a historic square located in the center of Brussels, Belgium. At the center of the square is a statue of Godfrey of Bouillon, a medieval knight who played a significant role in the First Crusade. The statue of Godfrey of Bouillon was erected in 1848 and depicts the knight on horseback, wearing a suit of armor and holding a sword. Godfrey of Bouillon was a prominent figure in medieval European history, and he is best known for his role in the First Crusade, during which he played a key role in the capture of Jerusalem. The statue of Godfrey of Bouillon is a significant landmark in Brussels and is considered one of the most important historical monuments in the city. The square itself is also an important cultural and architectural site, and it is surrounded by a range of important buildings, including the Royal Palace of Brussels and the Brussels City Hall. Today, Koningsplein is a popular destination for visitors to Brussels, and it is particularly popular during the summer months, when a range of cultural events and festivals take place on the site. Whether you are interested in history, architecture, or simply want to enjoy the natural beauty of Brussels, Koningsplein is definitely worth a visit.

A grand plaza surrounded by beautiful architecture. Mind the traffic, since it is an open street. In the centre, near the horse statue, there is a chained off area where you can stand and only trams go through there.

The Place Royal is a public square at the southern end of the Mont du Arts. The square is surrounded by Neoclassical buildings and dominated by the Saint Jacques-sur-Coudenberg and the Statue of Godefroid de Bouillon at the centre of the square. Not a massive amount to see, but does make for a photogenic backdrop with either the church or statue in the background. Lots of Brussels main tourist attractions are around this area though and the square does also have a magnificent view of Palais de Justice.

Place Royale is an 18th-century square in the southwest of the Royal Quarter of Brussels , Belgium. The classicist square was designed in Louis XVI style on the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the reign of the governor Charles of Lorraine in 1776. The church of Sint-Jacob-op-Koudenberg is prominent on the square. It is located at the Mont des Arts. The Balieplein, the parade ground of the Palace on the Koudenberg, used to be roughly on the site of the current square. This palace was destroyed by fire in 1731. The whole palace went up in flames; only the walls of the court chapel and its Magna Aula remained standing. Only the cellars and foundations remain today. On the place where the court chapel used to be, there is now the " BELvue Museum ", the museum about Belgium and its history, a museum managed by the King Baudouin Foundation. Via this building you can descend to visit these subterranean spaces of the archaeological site of Coudenberg.

Ignore the palace and go straight to this yellow food truck that I assure you sells the BEST WAFFLES in Brussels. The flavors of the dough is really surprising, very artisanal so you are tasting an authentic waffle. The man who serves is kind and friendly.

Beautiful square. The statue of the hero on his horse is remarkable and we enjoyed the musical instrument museum.

Visit the waffle guy here in the courtyard. He has a yellow vintage VW van. Best waffles we had during our trip.

Not too enthusiastic about museums showing daily life images and artefacts. So I didn't enjoy this as much. The artefacts and images were aplenty and allowed me to understand Belgian life in detail.

An old look dating back to the 18th century and a beautiful statue. A very stylish courtyard with trees designing in a box. A good weather after the rain I remembered in northern Iran. Maybe another day ...

I don't know, somehow I wasn't amazed by this place. Surrounded by passing cars and very gray in colors, the view at the square with statue of the horse is not the picture that you need to have from Brussels.
