I've never been in such a singular home devoted to art nouveau architecture (or not necessarily art nouveau as they discuss in the museum). It's stunning, the thoughtful curves and use of light. No pictures allowed, they even have you lock up your phone in the lockers. The place is also a maze, the little map in the brochure tries to show you the rooms but it's hard with a limited 2d drawing. Well worth a visit, just know there's a lot of narrow stairs but worth it at the end. You have to buy your tickets online in advance to get in.

The House itself is stunning, but the staff is really rude and not organised at all. I came with a old person on a wheelchair, I asked in advance if there was the possibility to have a wheelchair friendly virtual tour, and they told me there was a touchpad to have this virtual tour; but when we arrived we queued under the rain, I booked for 14.00 and we entered with 20 minutes of delay. The staff didn’t know what to do with the wheelchair and they were really annoyed and nervous with us, even though they were told about it in advance. I think it was shameful to make a very old person on a wheel-chair wait under the rain, they said ‘because of covid-19 prevention rules’, and the staff inside the house was not even wearing a face mask. The house is wonderful, but the staff must improve, and if you work at a Unesco Heritage site being able to talk a basic level of English Language is a must!

The museum recreates an atmosphere that takes you back to the late 19th and early 20th century. Many exhibits are originals and the restoration process is perfectly described and showcased. An hour well spent. No pics are allowed.

Terrible place. Be sure to avoid. The ticket price is almost the same as for the Museum of Musical Instruments or the three-part Museum of Fine Arts, though the value of the exhibits is orders of magnitude lower. They forced the wait on the street for a while without any reasons. Furthermore, they forbade to take the cellphones with ourselves with regard to taking photos is not allowed, and they let us know this special behavior only after purchasing tickets. For a tourist almost everything is in their cellphone, it is the most important object. If they cannot trust me to respect the ban of photography, why should I trust them not to steal my cellphone out of the locker? And the exhibition itself? Nice but not extremely beautiful or exciting interiors and consumer goods – nothing more. It can be visited in 10 minutes conveniently. Youʼd rather walk a bit more at the wonderful Grand Place; itʼs much more worth it.

We bought tickets and were not allowed to take photos inside of the museum. What are you trying to hide, guys? Everything is on internet nowadays. People will always come to see Mona Lisa to Louvre even when everyone saw the picture a thousands of times online! Although the museum and interiors are great, this insanely ridiculous "top secret" vibe and quite rude staff ruined all the impression. Would not recommend to visit this museum to anyone, there's plenty of amazing places in Brussel.

It's an experience that you cannot miss if you like or like to know Art Nouveau. Amazing place, go with time to enjoy all the details, it took us around 1h30. The staff was really nice. It's necessary to book in advance but you pay at the end of the tour.

You should make your reservations way in advance. We got lucky and were able to get in that afternoon. Being so popular it's funny how they are only open from 2:00-5:00pm. The house is AMAZING! So many different concepts that he introduced to a home! It's a self guides tour and figure to spend 60-90 minutes. There are lots of stairs so be prepared. Certainly worth the time to tour!

You must buy tickets in advance for the main, paid part of this house. There is a free exhibition area as well. Even if you don't have a pre ticket, they have a qr code at the window to book your ticket and time slot. The door is always locked on the outside until its your groups alloted time slot. So if you booked 2.30. The door is unlocked ta 2.30 for that group to come in. If you are late, you may have to wait to go into the next group. But the are every 15 min or so. It's worth it overall, as they have kept it as art nouvou as possible. There was plenty to walk and see and the videos and information provided, were in different languages, helpful for an English visitor. The staff were friendly and keep in mind, no photographs and belongings are allowed in the paid musuem part. You will be given a locker until you exit. A great Musuem to visit. Thanks to the lady on the door who explained ion French and English what was going on.

Amazing museum. Need to book as only a few people allowed in at one time, but this means there are no showcases! You are trusted not to touch the objects. It really is just like walking around someone's home. Never been to a museum like this before. Definitely recommend.

House and office of belgium architect Victor Horta. August 2020: You can book by internet but you pay at the end of visit Price: normal 10 euros, student 5 euros (have to show document). Visitors (without guide) follow a pre determined path. Women purse should be kept at left side to not hurt the walls along the stairs (original paint). PHOTOS INSIDE ARE NOT ALLOWED. We should wear masks and it’s hot inside (Summer 2020) but visit worth it. House have 2 façades: house (left) and office(right). Also there is a museum left side of Horta’s façade, they bought a house to build it . All the files are in the museum. It took 25 years to be refurbished. Horta wanted to make the house a ouvre d’art. Check the column radiator at the entrance of the house- to keep visitors warm when waiting the coach to go way... Also the furnitures designed by Horta are interesting. The office and employees house has doors to connect with Horta’s house. For example in the Horta’s dinning room there are openings to pass the dishes from the kitchen . Also in the wc and bathroom there doors to the housekeeping. Check also the mirrors at the top of the stairs with their infinite reflections... Good hours to know about Art Noveau Recommended!!!

(Translated by Google) Fan of town planning and architecture, I went to this museum with a lot of expectations. My expectations were totally met with a one hour journey in a magnificent, very well maintained, very well restored house, presenting the achievements of Victor Horta with meticulousness and passion, in a sumptuous setting. The decorations, inspirations, sources of Horta are well explained and highlighted. I particularly enjoyed the grand staircase, the dining room, the music room and the bedroom. Congratulations to the whole team for this work (Original) Fan d'urbanisme et d'architecture, je me suis rendu dans ce musée avec pas mal d'expectatives.

(Translated by Google) This museum is none other than the house that Horta had built for him and in which he lived. Through the various rooms furnished as at the time, we find all the marks of the art nouveau style dear to the architect such as a magnificent central staircase with a glass roof, numerous floral motifs, mosaics and cleverly integrated furniture. to the building (the urinal hidden in the swinging wardrobe in the bedroom is one of the funniest examples). to discover without waiting (Original) Ce musée n'est autre que la maison qu'Horta à fait construire pour lui et dans laquelle il a vécue. I greatly admire the work of Victor Horta, so visiting the museum was on high on my bucket list. The building is well maintained and a gem of art nouveau architecture and more importantly the contents are well organised, preserved and are a collection from different owners for the purpose of displaying Horta's work. There are room descriptors and pamphlets available in French, Dutch and English to help explain each room and some of the articles within it. It is a self-guided tour, though there is a set route and the museum staff will ensure you follow it correctly, mainly to manage the people flow during covid restrictions. In addition, when you arrive at your allotted time, just wait outside, every few minutes the door will be opened to allow the next group in. See the queue on the picture. It is only to manage numbers in the museum, though information about this outside is missing, so it is confusing. It also means your visit should not be too long. I was disappointed not to be able to take pictures, but I have to respect the preservation of the items. These were the reasons for not giving 5 stars. There is a modest shop mainly of books and post cards. For fans of art nouveau this is a must see.

One of the most beautiful Art Nouveau buildings in Bruxelles, that is open tu public. Reservations are needed. No photos allowed. The house is a masterpiece, the home of the Horta family, every detail is paid attention, and fortunately is well preserved.

A really nice way to get to know a bit more about the personality of this pioneer of Modernism by stepping into the personal world of the artist, which represents his own house. You can imagine the architect focused on his work at his desk or having a rest after a hard day. Each room and each piece of furniture has their own story to tell. Definitely worth visiting

Beautiful house museum of famour architect Victor Horta with lots of details and well preserved items. Funny spiky seashells to keep people from seating on chairs etc. No photos/phones allowed in the rooms. Very refreshing to see people around you living in the time and place with the people around them!!

Great find! Recommended ! To be honest I did not expect much from the museum since I thought it was merely an old house with a few explanation boards. But far from it! The museum is - to be fair - “just an old house”. BUT it has been thoroughly renovated and offers great insight into the life of Horta (who apparently build nearly everything in Belgium). The house looks fantastic. Your are guided through all the different rooms with a little guide book, which is well written and interesting. Every room tells a story of past times and the life of people in the 20st/21st century. At some times it is a bid difficult to find the way but you can als ways as the staff or just follow other visitors. At the end I was pleasantly surprised by the museum and the information offered. It is decently worth a visit and made it to 3rd place on my list of museums in Belgium.

A architecture masterpiece like this cannot get less than 5 stars by anyone. It’s great that they have turned it into a museum and allow people to see it. There is still a lot of improvements on the organizational aspects, but I guess they are operating on a small budget. In any case, it still remains one of my favorite sites to visit every time I go to Brussels. No one should miss it!

An incredible museum, one of my favorites in Brussels. It is so beautiful and filled with unique details. If you are interested in architecture you can also learn something new. Also the neighbourhood is nice to walk around and has nice cafes. I recommend booking in advance and good to know that you cannot take photos inside, altough this helps you to appreciate it even more.

Beautiful interior, rude staff! The museum is inspiring and informative, and has placards in English - so that is great. It is definitely worth a visit, but beware that the staff is quite rude (I witnessed rudeness towards other people as well) and this honestly ruined my experience a little bit. Would have given 2 or 3 stars but I was just so impressed with the beauty of Horta’s creations!

(Translated by Google) Beautiful building and nicely decorated, if you want to learn more about Horta's life and architecture, you will be left hungry. The visit was also somewhat "awkward" due to the corona measures. Although you have to come by appointment, you still have to queue up a bit because you can only enter through the front door by bubble, after which the front door has to be closed again. It wouldn't be a bad idea to put arrows to indicate the direction of circulation.

A must for architecture and design lovers and visitors to Brussels. Such an exceptional example of art nouveau architecture in perfect condition. We booked a couple of days in advance, and had no issues but they were having to turn people away without reservations so id recommend booking if you can. A really beautiful visit, for everyone, plenty of information on the house and the movement itself, was a highlight of our trip!

A true gem for anyone interested in the Art Nouveau movement and the life and work of Belgian architect Victor Horta. The museum is located in Horta's former residence and studio, which has been beautifully preserved and restored to its original splendor

Amazing house. If you're not a big art nouveau person the experience might be a little underwhelming but glad we stopped by. They do not let you take photos inside

Simply put this museum is the architects family home and design studio lovingly restored to look as it did in its heyday. It is lovely, as are many of the items designed by Horta which have included in the room settings. The curators limit the number of people allowed in the house at once so that there is plenty of space to appreciate each room. I recommend buying your timed ticket in advance. This house is an uplifting experience.

Poor experience overall. They took our phones when we arrived (yes our phones as phones are prohibited and so are photos of any kind). Overall pretty dry people. After asking why pictures were prohibited they argued that some tourists in the past would move and damage furnitures to take pictures and selfies. To our surprise we observed several staff members sitting on the very chairs they said we couldn't sit on. How absurd! Not to mention staff members spread across the house/museum staring at you as if you were a criminal to the point where we decided to leave as it was becoming too awkward. Price-wise I only paid 6 euros (under 26) but more than 10 euros for this is in my humble opinion a tad too expensive for such a short (and somewhat bad) experience. Most interaction screens were turned off (post covid lack of budget folks?). Anyway, you get the idea. Never to return nor to recommend! Cheers,

Wonderful museum of Art Nouveau and a magnificent insight into the working and living space of Victor Horta. The house is beautiful in all it's aspects, the way the light is entering the house through the roof, gives it a special touch. A true marvel in the middle of Brussels that's worth discovering. Count about 1,5-2h to fully visit the museum in all it's beauty.

Beautiful house and a must visit for architecture lovers, students & professionals. And a lot for art lovers as well. Unfortunately there was no guided tour so didnt get all the details. Note cameras & mobile phones are not allowed inside, so you have to keep them in lockers available at the entrance. Sadly no chance of make photos or recording videos.

This was the highlight of our short Brussels trip - I’m so glad my friend recommended this to me because I wouldn’t have ever known about it otherwise, it’s just a random house on a street until you enter and realise it’s a museum. The inside is really spectacular and it’s so much bigger than it looks on the outside, great value for money.

Loads of rooms to explore and staircases like a maze! Very entertaining and beautiful. We booked our tickets ahead of the visit. Be aware you're not allowed any bag, camera or phone inside (but they have lockers to keep them safe)

A beautiful piece of architecture and interior design, let down by poor curation. It is often difficult to tell which part of the printed pamphlet (handed out at entry) relates to the room you are in. The sequence of rooms in the pamphlet seems not to align with the order in which you see them - leading to some head-scratching, questions to the staff, and redirection. This happened a few times to me. Phones are not allowed - you need to check them into a locker.

The museum is beautiful but if you buy the 16:30 or 16:45 tickets there is not time enough to visit calmly and properly the house. It closes at 17:30 but they start making you go out 30 minutes before closing stairs and doors of the house and putting pressure to go out of every room. I could not visit the exhibition because it was already closed. Plus staff was unkind and very hasty.
