Excellent site for gothic style enthusiasts, the building is beautiful yet not very high as gothic style is used to; nevertheless it is nice beholding the flying buttresses and its beautiful rossettes; the whole church is very interesting and wonderful.

Église Sainte-Catherine de Bruxelles (St. Catherine's Church) is situated on Place Sainte Catherine in central Brussels. Historically, there was a Gothic style church constructed here in the 15th century. After flood damage, a new church was built between 1854-74. The church suffered a turbulent 20th-century of damage, neglect and seems to have barely avoided permanent closure and being converted into indoor market within the last decade. Today, what you find is something of a French Neo-Gothic exterior and facade. There is also a free standing Baroque style tower just outside the main church building that is worth a look. The interior offers a bare nave with minimal ornamentation. There is a fine altar, carved wooden pulpit and few other nice things to see. However, by comparison to other church visits you may have done in Brussels, there is quite a bit less to see within St. Catherine's Church. In the end, worth a look-see if you are sightseeing in this area of central Brussels. Otherwise, if you are short on time in the city, there are more impressive and interesting churches you can visit first.

St. Catherine's Church sits on the site of another church of the same name and the ruins can still be seen adjacent to the current building. The current building is looks like it was originally Gothic, but acquired Romanesque and Baroque characteristics after more renovation in the late 19th century. The latter two styles more obvious once you step inside. In fact you can easily see which part of the church was renovated and which part not. The older part of the building needs a serious clean, while the newer part is gleaming white. The interior of the church is very bland compared to the exterior and especially for a church of this scale. There's none of the stained glassed windows you'd expect from a church that's over 500 years old. I wouldn't go specifically to see this church unless you have time. Pass the outside of the building and that's the best part.

Nice to have a silent stop to pray and to thank to God. And thank to saint Catherine too. Here you can make a cross with holy water contactless.

Nice place. My favourite in Belgium. The contrast from large square with bars and food places with wine drinkers and some relax vibe. You should try nice shells and other typical cousine. Also one side was nice and clean without the marks of time, while on other was with a evident marks of time burden. Once again, best place!

Beautiful inside and outside. You could need to circle the church to look around. There was some construction going on so was bit difficult to . But always you can get inside and admire the beauty of the church. there are several restaurants and a water fountain near by to sit during sunset and enjoy the sun rays playing around the church doors.

2022.05.05 Beautiful church in Brussels that we visited while walking the streets of the city. What attracts you is the architecture and the white statue of the Virgin Mary.

The Church of Saint Catherine (Église Sainte-Catherine) in Brussels is a historic landmark known for its Gothic and Baroque architecture. Dating back to the 12th century, it has played a central role in the city's religious and cultural life. The church is located near Sint-Katelijneplein and features a simple yet elegant interior with notable artworks. The surrounding area is lively, with charming streets, seafood restaurants, and a fish market, making it a popular destination for visitors exploring Brussels.

Pretty church to pray at and meditate before you go on an eating spree at the Place Sainte Catherine. Metro line 5 stops here so when you get out it’s one of the first things you’ll see along with the restaurants dotted on each side of the man made pool.

(Translated by Google) This church was built in the 19th century on the site of the filled-in Sint-Katelijnedokken. The old 15th century church, of which the baroque tower from 1629 has been preserved, was demolished in 1893. The architect was none other than Joseph Poelaert and later his student Wynand Janssens. Despite the names 'brick quay' and 'firewood quay', the inhabitants of Brussels call this the Vismet (Vismarkt).

(Translated by Google) Beautiful church, with a lot of history and good architecture, however I think it has lost its essence and is very made for tourists, it is not the most worthwhile. On my YouTube channel, Beatriz Lamarosa, you can find the entire visit by the Santa Catarina church. Very beautiful church which is dated back to the 17th century. It's the inspiration of the architects Poelaert and Janssens. The church of Sainte Catherine presents a combination of different architecture styles and it has an amazing painting collection. You have to visit the church of Sainte Catherine especially during Christmas because a part of the Christmas market is located in this area. The Christmas lights makes the place of Sainte Catherine to look so vibrant and colourful.

Very old church and well maintained. There a big Walking garden space infront of the church. Loved the aura of this church. You can also light candles and donate if you wish. Its very cold inside during winter and heating system is not installed, potable Gas heating plates are placed which operates during evening after 5 PM only.

Very nice Cathedral First day in Brussels and realised there is a church with the same name as me so had to visit lol! Was not expecting there to be works going on so there was a lot of noise. Couldn’t stay long due to that but if it was quieter and without works I would have spent longer there

Arrived here for the daily evening mass. It's a spiritual home. The priest and the smallish congregation made it so. A lady sang beautifully. Praise God.

Absolutely beautiful building, the caretakers have done a wonderful job with maintenance and presentation. This is one of the many churches we have visited in Europe over the past 3 years, and we are blessed to have had the opportunity to pray in such a place. The information board tells the story of its staying power and fulfillment of the gospel in being a place of refuge for all. When you get to Brussels, make sure you stop and have a moment to appreciate this marvel.

The church is beautiful piece of architecture! The square around to the church had lots of cafés and restaurants! During winter (November-December) this is where the Brussels Christmas markets take place, a fun place to get the Christmas spirit up! During spring and summer on a sunny day lots of people will hang around on the square! You can enjoy a nice refreshing drink from the local cafés on their terrace.

Absolutely beautiful church spoiled by a lady with a green head scarf who was rude, charged at me after making shooshing sounds and I had to leave with my son.We accidentally bumped into wood which I tried to apologise for! GReat way of welcoming and a very Christian way to behave.

The church is magnificent, the square has been transformed from a parking lot to a paved square (matching the quays alongside), benches, trees. A pleasant and frequented place all year round whatever the season.
