Good location if you need to visit the European Commission, but while the hotel looks good from the outside, the rooms are very tired looking and in desperate need of refurbishment. One of the plug sockets in my room was half hanging out and had been like that since my last visit (coincidentally I stayed in the same room). The safe in my room didn't work and there was no-one who could help until the morning, by which time I had to leave anyway. I placed a 'Do not disturb' sign on my door - which they duly ignored. When I went to complain I was told that management didn't arrive until 10am, so I left my details and asked them to call me - which they also ignored! NO AIR CONDITIONING (at least not in my room). Not sure how they can be classed as 4* without that. Room furniture was very basic. I guess you get what you pay for, but for me, I'll only go back as a last resort.

STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE.THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE. I booked this hotel stay in the summer during a heat wave. When we checked into the room it looked nothing like the photos. This was not a huge issue, but it was significantly more dated than expected and the room cleanliness was questionable. We noticed that there was not air conditioning in the room or a fan. Given the condition of the room and the temperature we went down stairs to ask to be moved. The front desk associate said that the hotel was fully booked so we could not be moved. At that point I asked to cancel my reservation with a refund for two of the three nights due to these circumstances (which would have been the charge had we never checked in). I felt this was fair given we spent 10 minutes in the room before we decided to book elsewhere. We then spoke with the Sales Manager who offered us to move rooms. This was not helpful since we had already booked another room given the front desk associate said that they were full. The sales manager eventually agreed to refund one night of the three night stay, which I do not think was fair but the hotel was so uncomfortable I just wanted to leave. When I came home I contacted Orbitz regarding the refund and they were not able to agree with the hotel to issue the refund. Ultimately it was a horrible experience with the staff of the hotel who at this point literally have both lied to me, and with the quality of the hotel; which was also misleading. STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE. THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE.

My experience with the hotel was lower than average. Pluses: staff friendly, sleeping comfortable though the room was dated. I appreciated bath instead of regular shower corner and the size of the bathroom. Minuses: Internet was terrible, cleaning ladies not very attentive and the breakfast just ok...The room where the breakfast is served does not have any windows, so you dont get a waking-up kick from the natural sunlight in the morning. No food/snacks available in the evening.

Location, breakfast, staff were good! My room on the 8th floor was clean & moderm but colleages who stayed on 3rd floor complained of the "old rooms"... I appreciated the electric kettle in the room; why not an espresso coffee machine, too?

I had a nice and comfortable two-night stay at the hotel. Itโ€™s located perfectly central in Brussels if youโ€™re there for anything EU-related. The rooms were quite big for two-bed rooms but had a rather disappointing bathroom. The bathtub-shower brush was a little short for normal people (like 1.80m) and the window to protect splashing water was somewhat leaking so you had to sob water off the floor after showering. The room apart from that was very comfortable. The breakfast could have been better considering itโ€™s a four-star hotel but it was okay with a little selection of cheeses, breads and scrambled eggs. All in all it has been a nice stay there.

The rooms are tired old rooms that have just been repainted and supplied with nice new furniture. The curtains were too small (didn't meet in the middle) the power sockets were old and should have been replaced with new sockets that have usb ports. The lifts are small and the bar didn't open all weekend.

Overall we have had a good experience, but here are our notes: Pros Clean rooms Tasteful and diverse breakfast buffet Multilingual front desk and staff Proactive attitude of front desk - Mr B... has gone above and beyond to improve our experience Excellent location next to EU Commission Great service (apart from Cons) Cons We were greeted with a sour smile and unwelcoming words by the lady at reception When we first entered the room, there were not enough toiletries and bins had no bags No AC Could do with a renovation or more attention to detail, as some of the "handyman jobs" have been done poorly: wallpaper was pealing off, loose wall screws on TV wall-stand and bathroom towel hangers etc

I stayed 2 nights. The staff was really friendly and very helpful. The hotel had very good soundproofing. The bed was big and very comfortable. The cleaning service was very good. The location was perfect (close to the metro station). The hotel maybe needs a renovation because the closet was really old and signs of tear were present (for example on the walls).

It is very inconvenient to book with a corporate credit card because you need to send documents for confirmation. But you will find out about this nuance after you pay. And, of course, according to the hotel's policy, money is not refunded. But I think it is very important to inform people about this detail.

Four stars? This is a joke! Guess they found two stars on the street ... This hotel barely deserves a far-fetched two stars. The disgusting smell in the rooms. No air conditioning. Rude service. Location is its only advantage.

The room I stayed in was really nice and spacious. It had a mini kettle, nescafe and milk in it, so I didnt have to wait till the breafast to have my morning coffee. The breakfast 'room' was nicely furnitured, however it couldn't hide the fact that it was a windowless backroom. Despite of the best effort to make it look nice, it was a bit depressing. (Noones fault that it doesn't have a window. I don't particularly like hotels that ask for a credit card or 100 euros in advanced in case the guest 'distroys' something or set the alarm off with smoking in the room. I think it shows a certain level of lack of trust. Could it tell a lot of the people who stayed here in the past? Hmm, not sure.

Hotel its pretty nice located in the European neighbourhood. Many options of leisure and restaurants. However, the facilities and installations need urgent renovation. No ar condition available in the summer (or even a fan) it's the worst part.

Had a very pleasant stay in the hotel, number of negative reviews is suprising.

Very cosy and nice classical looking rooms / hotel. Good breakfast selection. However no AC.

An okay hotel experience, but quite expensive considering what you get. The rooms are okay, but a bit worn down. I would not recommend paying for the breakfast since it is not worth what you pay for it.

We stayed at New Hotel Charlemagne in May. It was a lovely stay, but more importantly their customer service after our stay was exceptional. We left an important item in our room. They held on to it, and communicated with us effectively while we figured out how to get it shipped to us. Three months later when we finally got our act together, they helped us during the shipment by packaging it, labeling it, and handing it off to UPS. We just got reunited with our item and couldnโ€™t be more pleased. Thank you New Hotel Charlemagne!

Nice staff. Nice and accessible location @ 5 min. to the European Commission, and 6 min. to the European External Action Service (EEAS). Quite and nice location. The rooms are large enough and clean compared to similar hotels in Brussels. The design of the room is interesting, in a fresh and modern style. The mattress and sheets are of good quality.

Hotel in a great location. Rooms missing a full hight mirror. Also breakfast could be better (disappointing coffee and scambled eggs).

Ok to stay for one night, but I wouldn't give this hotel 4 star rating. Small rooms, clean but very simple bathroom, smell of bleach. Simple breakfast with limited choice of food.

Excellent hotel! Very good location near UE building, 5 minutes for subway station, in 10 minutes you are in the Central Station, very helpful staff, the best bad I have slept in the European countries. Good report facilities and price. I would like to stay here again. Thank you for your hospitality!

Situated right in front of the EU Commission building, just few metro stops away from the Grand Place, but still in a very quiet area. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, with armchair and minibar. The bathroom has a nice shower. Room cleaning happens on a daily basis.

Hummmmm, room was dated. Bathroom was pretty basic. Toilet needed a good clean. Shower was warm but hot and water pressure was rubbish. Guy on reception wasn't particularly bothered when we couldn't get the safe to work. Giving it 2 stars as bed was good.

Overall an OK stay. The location was good, close to the bus stop and metro station. The grand place was at walking distance. The room was clean but there was a strange kind of smell. The bathroom was small though. The staff was polite.
