At a distance of 55 km from Bhuj, Kutch Fossil Park is a museum located in the Haripar village of Gujarat. Situated near Dhinodhar hills, it is one of its kind museums in India and among the best places to visit in Bhuj. The Kutch Fossil Park was founded in the year 2002 by the visionary Mohan Sinh Sodha, the man who single-handedly worked and is continuously adding to the collection of the several fossils that are on display in the small 2 rooms' exhibition area. He has been doing this for almost 4 decades now since his first rendezvous with a fossil called Ammonite in the 70s. The discovery of that fossil changed his life and he went on to collect many of the fossils ranging from plants, fruits, gems, animals, reptiles etc.The most astounding fossil exhibited here is of the Dinosaur and its egg that has been collected over the time in bits and pieces and then restructured to give a good shape. Recently he found a Sea cow fossil, which was reconstructed with the help of the Roorke Institute of Technology. The species is now called Dommingia Sodhae in his honour! ... Amazing place to visit .... Must visit ... And also , keep the places clean .... Jai Hind ... Jain Bharat 🙏🏻🙏🏻

This is a very unorthodox type of a museum, where all the fossils are kept on open display and one can actually touch them and feel them. (But don't do that!) People pay thousands of dollars to go abroad and see fossils at a distance, but this is like seeing them up and close at barely any cost. The Kutch Fossil Park was founded by a celebrated war veteran Mohansinh Sodha, who had a keen eye for fossil hunting. For the last 40 years, he has tirelessly travelled the lengths and breadths of this region collecting fossils for display at his own PRIVATE FOSSIL MUSEUM, which is open for the public to see and appreciate. He has even discovered a new species of Sea-Cow, which has been named after him. Mr. Sodha himself will come and explain the different types of fossil and dinosaurs found in this region with great zeal and zest. It is truly an enlightening experience and I thoroughly recommend this place to anyone who visits Kutch/Bhuj. I'd also advise people to donate generously as this place is not funded by the government and such priceless local treasures need our support.

Very fascinating place with fossils that date thousands of years back. The collection involves shell's that existed when bhuj was submerged under water. Fossils of dianosors , plants and a few of them which are yet to be identified. Its a must visit place for bird franatics too.

It is quite far away 21km from Nakhatrana. Good for Science & Fossil lovers. Limited gallery, much smaller than expected. Made by personal effort of single person.

A private park that has a small single room whose entry is charged at ₹50/- by the local caretaker with apparantly no formal receipt or printed ticket! The fossils kept outside free of cost to see were okay.

This is one the least accessed but best place for scholars. All thanks to the man, who established and continue to maintain the fossil park, without any govt aid. Appreciation from IIT Rooroo, inspire a lot.

Labour of love. Vikramsingh Sodha’s father spent his lifetime collecting fossils. The results are there to see.

Historical treasure of Jurassic period in Dholavira It's a place definetly not to be missed at all. This place is a few kilometers from the Dholavira excavation site. The roads are small and bumpy but the site is beautiful and wonderful. You can see fossils of trees and plants turned over millions of years ago. We hired a guide to explain us. The Fossils here are fibrous in nature and it belongs to some plant fossil (petrified wood) associated with the Khadir formation comprising sandstone-shale-limestone sequences belonging to the Jurassic age (Aalenian-Bathonian) 187-176 million years old.
