We came for afternoon tea (called high tea here in line with the US/trading post theme of the tea room; we had the vegetarian version) as a birthday treat. Absolutely delicious, lots of variety, and HUGE. The service is great, owners are lovely, and it’s very dog friendly. Besides the fab food the gift shop is worth a look (especially if you like bears), the decor is well thought out, and the flowers in the courtyard garden really pleasant. I don’t have a bad word to say and if we are in the area again we’ll definitely come back. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon!!

We just popped in here for a cuppa during a short stay in Tankerton and was super impressed. Really interesting and quirky environment and the milk shakes are absolutely top notch! I'll definitely be returning - and maybe tomorrow!

Highly recommended. We had the High Tea which was absolutely gorgeous. Good variety of savoury and sweet options all freshly made which tasted beautiful. Service was great, attentive and fun. Will definitely be going back.

Afternoon tea with three friends here yesterday. Completely blown away with everything. The food was amazing and so much of it. We each took home a large bag of bits we were too full to eat. All beautifully presented. The staff were lovely and attentive and could not do enough for us. Wonderful place.

Went in for some lunch with my partner, was warmly greeted by the staff possibly the owners. The menu had a lovely choice of food. The Drinks menu was great and service was great. I had the Gammon ham sandwich which was really nice and the bread was doorstop thick. I also had the vanilla milkshake which was really nice. Setting inside is really nice as well. Definitely recommend.

Lovely staff, incredibly helpful in assisting my coeliac daughter choose her meal. Delicious sandwich (you need a big mouth to fit the bread in) and fudge cake to die for.

After visiting Whitstable we were looking for one more place to enjoy a scone:) on our way back to Dover Ferry terminal. I found this place through google. The homemade scones, the log cabin interior and especially the name were the perfect fit for me :) With some imagination I found myself back in Canada or Alaska surrounded by the bears I love so much:) My mom and I had the best scones of all the ones we’ve tasted during our trip and had a nice chat with one of the staff members (who were all very welcoming) Too bad our ferry was waiting to take us back to Belgium or we would have stayed longer. Maybe next time:). Thank you ‘beary’ much for this sweet experience on UK soil:)

Love this place! Visit reasonably often with my mum and have enjoyed many a coffee, cold drink, sweet treat or freshly made lunch. The decor and design of the cafe is gorgeous and so well thought out. It can get busy but I guess that is because of its charm. Even better than all this though are the staff. They are absolutely lovely! I always feel like I’m a visiting guest rather than paying customer….and the fact that they welcome dogs is the icing on the cake! It’s a pleasure supporting such a brilliant small and local business.

Really lovely and quirky tea and toy shop styled like a log cabin. We had the afternoon tea which you had to pre-book, it was absolutely fabulous. So much food!! Combination of hot and cold savoury and a great selection of delicious naughty cakes all hand made. Really lovely staff and dog friendly 😊

What a find! A quirky little food/ toy shop and really first class café. The food was excellent. We had a baked potato with pulled pork filling, and a baked camembert with fig and apple chutney and sourdough bread. All homemade and really tasty. The staff were all very friendly and super professional. I would recommend this place to anybody without hesitation. If we lived in the area, we would go there as often as possible.

Popped into The Bears cafe again with our 2 doggies. Always a lovely welcome from Peter and very accommodating with your furry family members. Food delicious as always and also bought 4 cakes to take home 😋 Service is exceptional and Grace is a lovely friendly waitress x Had BLT's today which are lovely and fresh but if you're looking for a Cream Tea they are the best here in Whitstable/Tankerton, nowhere else compares! 🐻❤️🐻

Visisted this lovely cafe for the first time. We were welcomed by friendly faces and had an enjoyable lunch. I also took my one year old daughter along, a high chair was provided for her. Thanks for the great customer service

We were looking for somewhere for lunch and so glad we found this place. Service was lovely and the food was delicious and plentiful. Fantastic value for money too. We had our dog with us who was made to feel very welcome. All in all a great place and wish we lived closer to visit more often!! Highly recommend the giant crumpet ..

Great little tea room, bit odd having to ring a doorbell outside to be let in and seated, but once inside it's a lovely atmosphere and interesting surroundings, if you like teddies your in for a treat. The milkshakes are packed with flavour and are a generous size.

I visited The Bears yesterday with a friend and a 10 week old baby. We were made to feel very welcome and the fish finger sandwich, chilli and cheese scone were utterly delicious! We also had coffee and walnut cake and hot chocolate! The portion sizes are rather generous and I didn’t need to eat for the rest of the day! Every single bit was enjoyed! The bear cub decided he needed a nappy change. There are no changing facilities for babies, but this wasn’t a problem, we found a little space to change the baby and took the nappy bag with us. The Bears do some amazing work in the local community and I would much prefer this to continue rather than them invest in changing facilities! There is a very amusing sign in the toilet to explain this and provided me with a smile! Thank you Bears for a great time! The bear cub loved having lots of people to smile at and we will be back soon for sure.

This is a smashing place which is especially special as I love teddy bears. There's a great array of gifts. The owner is a lovely friendly chap and the service was great. If you are in Tankerton do payback visit as you won't regret it. And it's dog friendly.

We were visiting Whitstaple but we could not find the perfect location for lunch, so we drove a short distance to Tankerton. In fact we could have walked, it's not that far. Anyway, we were very pleased we had done so because we found The Bears Trading Cafe. What a gem. We were welcomed and chose to sit out in the garden. The garden was over flowing with plants everywhere , but sadly they are coming to the end of their lives soon. The menu is extensive but we both knew what we wanted as we had looked before going in. I had the BLT on brown seeded bread with salad , side salad and a generous helping of crisps. Not cheap crisps either. It was delicious , and a good size too. My wife had the fish finger , salad and crisps on the same bread. Equally delicious. Served in a timely fashion with a Ginger beer from the extensive drinks menu. The cakes looked gorgeous too and plenty of choice . The cafe / shop was very welcoming, stuffed with Bears of course. The staff were very friendly and we stopped to chat with them when we left and dicuss where the bread came from as it was so delicious. My only regret is that we live 100 miles away. Thanks for a lovely lunch.

We arrived when the shop was due to close but was warmly greeted & allowed to eat in. The kids enjoyed their treats whilst in awe of the huge cuddly toys on display. Worth a visit if you have children, the gentleman who served us was very attentive to their needs. Great ice cream selection too! A decent addition to Tankerton.

Warm welcome, can have a laugh with the waiters and the owner has a good sense humour, as for the food the menu has a lovely English lunch variety, and then finished with a cream tea.

Visited today for lunch after recommending it to my sister based on trip advisor reviews. I was highly embarrassed by bad food and lack of good customer service skills. Poor, soggy cold tasteless quiche, uninspiring salad and coleslaw. An Inability to rectify a simple complaint about the quiche being cold by taking the quiche away and returning it cold on an extremely hot plate... And to finish it off a nice smirk and sarcastic ' goodbye from till staff. Certainly won't be returning,

Its an odd mix of a coffee shop, tea room, teddy bear shop and a card shop all in one. Run by two lovely guys. Coffee is not the greatest but has a lovely garden when the sun is out.

We came in for brunch today…..what an …amazing gem of a place you have …..the food was amazing …fresh ..and very well presented…generous portion size . It’s shows immensely….that you care about all your customers young and old …and go above and beyond for them …friendly ..caring …extremely funny …and very endearing….the biscuit on the side of the cup and saucer …is a lovely touch … We can’t wait to come back ….. Thank you for making us feel welcome 💕

Had high tea here this afternoon to celebrate my mother's birthday and if it was possible to give 6 stars I would. Excellent customer service, staff so welcoming and accommodating, and delicious food well presented. We had 3 vegetarians in our party and there was a creative and plentiful choice of food which makes a pleasant change for a vegetarian afternoon tea. We bought some of the chutneys we had sampled and there is a good choice on offer to buy and also some wonderful gifts on display. We will definitely be visiting again and would highly recommend this place to anyone.
