Kiki's House Saigon

Hotel Hostel

😠 We had booked this hostel for the new year. The lady managing was very rude and was not ready to answer even small queries. She might be swamped up with work but when she says things like "Don't talk with me", it's shows very poorly of the hostel. The hosting was so bad that we immediately cancelled... People often mention hostel, stay, room, lady, booked, dorm, good, experience, beds, price,

We had booked this hostel for the new year. The lady managing was very rude and was not ready to answer even small queries. She might be swamped up with work but when she says things like "Don't talk with me", it's shows very poorly of the hostel. The hosting was so bad that we immediately cancelled our booking (didn't bother about the deposit in hostelworld) and went to a different place. Hostel is literally on the walking Street and near to good restaurants. There is no parking for bikes though. If you want to have a good Vietnam experience, i would suggest to go to a different listing.

IMPORTANT! If you have a reservation here, make sure you arrive early enough in the day! The hostel somewhat frequently gets overbooked and people WITH reservations are rejected. I had none of these issues myself. Arriving early ensures your room isn't reallocated. The 1 ⭐ reviews are from those people. The hostel itself is fine. Nothing fancy, but the atmosphere is chill and the owner tries her best. 😊 Close to the bustling party street (45 second walk, see video) but it's far enough away to be completely quiet at midnight. They also have many midrange food options nearby, so if you get hungry at night... 👌🏼 The beds are so big they could fit 2-3 people. Free breakfast and 🍵 included. Cleanliness of bathrooms could be improved, but Kiki seems to be running the place solo. I had a good stay here.

The worst hostel we have ever stayed in. We arrived mid evening to check in to a 6 bed dorm for our group. On arrival the lady walked the 6 of us up to a 4 bed dorm, to which we had to try and communicate there was 6 of us and only 4 beds. The lady spoke next to no English so this was difficult to explain, eventually she put 2 of the group in a separate dorm and went straight on to demanding payment. We explain we booked online and had paid a circa $30 deposit, and had $186 outstanding. She didn’t understand any of this and just kept repeating $250 which is not the price we booked at. She said this was because we were now in a 4 bed dorm which was more expensive - even though she had put us in the 4 bed because the 6 bed was not ready for us. It was late by this point so we said we would sort in the morning. The following morning we had the same argument about price, we eventually got her to call the owner so we could talk to him, this conversation went well and he agreed the price as we had booked online and Apologised for the issues. We went out for the day and then 2 of the group called and said they had returned to the hostel and the lady had moved all our belongings to a different room, broken into our lockers and moved our valuables to this room as well and demanded we left in 30 minutes because we wouldn’t pay the price agreed with her. We walked back and she kept shouting $250 completely contrary to what we agreed with her boss. The experience was so awful we didn’t argue we just took our stuff and left, after finding out she had stolen 1 of the groups passports from the lockers as well to get us to leave. We walked 100m down the road and stayed in Meraki hotel, a far better experience. Do not stay at Kiki’s. It looks nothing like the photos online, management is completely incompetent and rude, and you can find cheaper better accommodation nearby.

Kiki will try to scam you by saying you haven’t paid the deposit. Kicked someone out of their bed in the middle of the night. Made two strangers, boy and girl, share a bed. Horrible horrible horrible place to stay

Hostel was over booked when I arrived, still made me come in and sit for 15 minutes without saying anything. After I asked to check in the manager was hesitant to tell me why, I then asked where my bed was and she brought me upstairs and showed me 4 blankets on the ground… nope

Recently Kikis house got taken over by new management from what I hear so the place is completely different to all these reviews. The hostel didn’t seem organised at all as we had to swap rooms a lot and we found the owner really hard to talk to even via translate. It’s also located in possibly the loudest area of HCMC where all the partying is happening so expect loud music till late. A lot of the rooms didn’t have AC. There wasn’t a lot of room to be sociable as the roof that was a social area is now where someone seems to be living. My friend also needed medical attention and when asking for help she simply received none. The shower is very dirty and doesn’t seem to be cleaned often at all as there is tons of hair and dirt on the floor. Overall not a pleasant hostel and I’ve been travelling for six months but this ranks very low.

I enjoyed my stay at this hostel. Clean bathroom and room. I had a room w/o AC but kiki gave me a fan to have on my bed throughout my stay. She was extremely flexible and provided me with everything I needed. It needs to be noted that she is a one woman show--in my experience those who had issues with this hostel were those who had no patience.

This hostel I would not recommend. The photos on hostel world are very misleading in terms of cleanliness and the general space of the hostel. It was far too overpriced for €10 a night it would be equal to a hostel worth €3. The lights in the bathroom did not work. The beds were not made as we arrived too early and then came back much later and the beds were still uncleaned from previous guests. The lady running the hostel also would not agree to the price on hostel world that I had booked and paid my deposit with and she was trying to charge us more money €11.50 for each bed. Then the towels she gave us were the size of tea towels for drying dishes. Everything about Kiki’s hostel Saigon was falsely advertised.

When we arrived, we weren't even sure if we were in the correct place. The hostel looks nothing like it does in the pictures Online or on Hostelworld. It's laughable. But, we pegged this down to the country only just opening up from Covid. The "roof bar" advertised is actually a picture taken from a window looking down onto another buildings bar, which is very naughty. Having read precious reviews (before covid) we were under the impression that 'Kiki' is a very helpful person who speaks very good English, however we never met Kiki, from what we gathered we met the new manager. Sadly, she failed to stick to the agreed terms through Hostelworld, completely writing off the deposit paid, saying we never paid it, and then demanding nearly 5x the money overall for the stay. Sadly, this place is a shell of what it clearly used to be, and advise against staying here for a few months until they sort their issues out. We actually ended up walking out and not staying there and finding a room nearby elsewhere.

What is happening in this hostel ? There is only one person that take care of all the hostel. She doesn't speak english. It was impossible to understand each other. This person is sleeping and living in the reception (the entrance of the hostel), the bed is literally in front of the front door. On hostelworld it is written that there is free breakfast and free laundry. There is absolutly no breakfast (even if you want to pay), and there is no free laudry. If you book through hostelworld the girl that take care of the place will ask you pay everything when you arrive EVEN IF YOU ALREADY PAID THE PREBOOK FEES OF HOSTELWORLD. We booker a full dorm of 6 beds. When we arrived we only had 4 double bed dorm. So the girl even asked us to pay more !!!!! I called the manager, he understood the situation and proposed us the normal price and of course the free breakfasts we asked for (that's the very minimum he could give us I would say). BUT NO IT NEVER HAPPENED, we left for the day and when we came back she told us to leave because she disagree with the decisions of her manager. She put all our stuff (without our permission) out of the dorm, even the computers. And she kept my passport !!! It is illegal !!! We never saw the manager, and he is the only one that speak english. Is he chilling on a beach in Vietnam while the girl taking care of the hostel is treated as a slave ????!! She threatened us to call the police because we didn't want to pay more than the price agreed on the booking site. She kicked us out of the hostel after only 1 night. I did more than 30 hostels in my life, this one is by far the worst. By the way we were not the only ones getting kicked out or cancelling the reservation at the very last moment. A group of 4 British guys we met a few hours later had the same experience. I suggest you to avoid that place at all cost.

My boyfriend and I stayed in this hostel for 3 days and we really liked it.Perfect location! We booked a bed for two in a room where there are 4 beds suitable for Two people each and it was really really good and quite cheap!A Comfortable and spacious bed with air conditioning in the room . Pretty clean! And breakfast included . Although the only inconvenience is the lady who cooks. She looked unfriendly and when I was taking breakfast she spoke in Vietnamese by herself in a not very friendly way. She also left some clients without bread I saw . The first day of our stay there was a guy cooking and he had everything prepared and organized but we didn’t like much the lady’s behavior towards us in the kitchen .

The bathroom had no lock, there was no trash can, the lady seems to be always irritated with tourists. The room and in particular my bed smelled like feet, it was pretty evident that they do not clean the blankets. The bar/party area is 1 min away so the location is excellent if you are looking for that.

Stay at kikis for the peace and quiet (my room was never noisy) - visit Hideout to meet people. Kikis is a sweet little hostel run by one person who speaks just enough English. The beds are really good. If you want a social/party vibe then just stay at Hideout.

I enjoyed my stay here that I came back a week later before I flew home. Short run: Great spot for a quick visit Hostel still rebounding after covid Be patient in communication Immersive experience Long run: This place is great for convenience for a short term stay when you are wanting to have a really good sleep with great air conditioning that is quiet yet still in the heart of the city. Great spots to eat at very close, literally 1 minute walk with outstanding customer service. I do warn that this place is a little out of practice due to covid and is still rebounding. If you look into the way the Vietnamese people struggled through covid you'll have a greater appreciation of this place. The lady lives in the common space but tries to be very accommodating. Her English is ok, not great. A little bit of patience and non verbal communication goes a long way. If you stay here, just be mindful you aren't in your home country and appreciate the different way of life.

We had a great experience here, the owner was super friendly and welcoming. She made us an amazing breakfast for 50 000 Dong p.p. The place was clean and cheap. Lovely!

I didn’t actually stay here, but I stayed in the neighbouring hostel. We got chatting to mris Kiki and she was lovely and made us orange juices and let us pet her rabbits
