What a relief it was to find this lovely little hotel, after an horendous experience at a supposed luxury apartment that cost us a day and a half of our 3 days in Ho Chi Min. We found Ben Thanh Retreats Hotel on a booking site, and decided to come and have a look first. We didn't hesitate, and booked it immediately. We had a wonderful welcome from the fabulous Hong who works on the front desk. This girl is an absolute gun, and she goes out of her way to help you. She has been our saviour. She directed me to the best Bahn Mi place, only 2 minutes walk - yes it was awesome, and also a fantastic place for Pho Ga (chicken pho). She helped me with a million other things and just didn't hesitate. The rooms are immaculately clean; very spacious and the walk-in shower is huge. For the small price (for Ho Chi Min City) of AUD$60 per night - in October, 2023, we also got a welcome beer, and breakfast, which was amazing really. Travelling buddy had a terrific omlette served with a hot, crunchy baquette, and I had the fried rice which was fantastic (with a bit of soy and fresh Chilli). The lady who cooks is just gorgeous - always smiling, happy and will have a laugh with you. ALL the staff here are super, super helpful. Can't fault them. Whilst the rooms may seem to some a little old fashioned, they are very comfortable, and have everything you need. We couldn't believe how spotless everything is, including the completely mirrored lift, that doesn't have a mark on it. Even though it's located down a little lane, once you get your bearings it's very easy to find and you can hardly hear the eleventy-seven million motor bikes that whizz around this busy city! I'd come back here in a heartbeat. Thanks Hong and all the staff here. We loved it. You have been fantastic.

We had booked a room for 3 nights so we went outside the 2nd day after getting ready but by the mid-day the manager thought it was one day booking and then took all our things without our permission and shifted it out . Luckily we dint lose anything but we were shocked on seeing our things relocated for no valid reason without even taking permission from us. The food stored was cold the first day The location is inside a very narrow alley and you ll have to face the dogs to get in There is no one active in the reception during the night hours Overall room was clean but rest all were negatives. Surprised at the positive reviews for this property.

This place is new just opened in November...it s clean and the rooms are whit a lot of light and a.c. perfect working!! The man that works in this place speaks better English that the other vietnamise do!! He is really nice and always helpful in every possible way. Perfect location....we went walking everywhere even at night it was perfect in the middle of the action but not noisy at all. The place is on a small street where the cars can t go in....you remember to search the small street looking for Kawasaki motor store!

There is nothing new to add to the top-notch reviews; primarily it is the honest warmth with which we were welcomed; always helpful in every way. Therefore, this hotel is also highly recommended for newcomers to Vietnam. Very clean, elevator available. Very quiet location despite being within walking distance of shopping opportunities. Breakfast is freshly prepared - Vietnamese or American, soup or the highly recommended omelette. We will definitely be there again next time we visit Ho Chi Minh City.

We stayed at the retreat for four nights. The best thing about this place: the people. The manager was very welcoming and made arrangements for our late arrival. The young lady at the desk, Y, made arrangements for tours and transport and was lovely to talk with! The room was large and very comfortable. The breakfast was very good and filling. The retreat is in a great location. And great wireless. We highly recommend the retreat.

This was the perfect spot to explore the city of Saigon from. It’s right in the middle of all the action of the city, but tucked away in a quiet alley where you can have peace and quiet at night. The room was great; we had a balcony room which was lovely, the bed was comfy, the shower was great, and the AC kept us nice and cool. The staff is almost unbelievably friendly and helpful and enthusiastically welcomed us and helped us find the best places to eat and see. There’s laundry for a very small fee which helped us immensely because we wanted to pack lightly. The complimentary breakfast included an amazing fruit platter every day, and different juice and coffee drinks to choose from. It was really wonderful and I can’t say enough good things or recommend the place enough. If you want to stay in an authentic Saigon location with some amazing hospitality and comfort, this hotel will deliver.

I had booked a room with them for two nights, through Agoda. Unfortunately, my girlfriend had an issue with her Vietnam Visa and was not allowed in the country, so we had to cancel all our plans for our trip. I canceled my stay and explained the situation to Ben Thahn 5 days (!) before my supposed arrival, asking (not "demanding") if there was any possibility of refund. Worse than just saying no, they got me on a message spiral with Agoda because they said it was Agoda who was not allowing the refund. Then, Agoda's staff clearly explained that they tried twice to reach out to the hotel, explaining the situation, and it was the hotel the one blocking the refund because of a 7-day cancelation period. I forwarded this to Ben Thahn and am yet to receive an answer (one week has gone by). I got refunded for everything in Vietnam, and many companies/hotels did not have to nor did I expect them to do so. Even the hotels where I would stay prior (thus, with a shorter cancelation request) to Ben Thanh refunded me fully, because of this extraordinary and unforeseen situation. Not refunding despite the 5-day warning is pity and lame, but "understandable". However, trying to push the blame to the agency Agoda is just plain stupid and shows their character.

Giap and Yen, hotel managers, accorded us excellent welcome (plus drinks) on 2/26, first of our four-night stay in a top-floor room with a nice city view. It included nice breakfast for 2 and strong wifi. They serve top-rate Vietnamese coffee, with condense milk. They booked all our tours: Ho Chi Minh city, 1-day Mekong Delta and Saigon River dinner cruise.

Me and my parents have stayed at dozen of hotels in Vietnam. This was on the top of the list when it comes to hospitality. The mamager showed us many delicious local restaurants nearby. The rooms were quiet, spatial and clean. Perfect for anyone who wants to stay local, silent and still within walking distance to the Ben Thanh and Bui Vien area. I forgot my tennis shoes at the hotel the manager contacted me and offered to bring the shoes to me. Thank you very much.

We had a great stay at Ben Thanh Retreats Hotel! The room was spacious, clean, and well-decorated. The breakfast was fresh and delicious, offering both Western and Vietnamese fare. The staff was wonderful as well, always very friendly and ready with advice and recommendations. The family who operate this hotel were so sweet and kind. We had a late flight (1am) leaving Saigon, and they stored our bags and let us take a shower in their room before we went to the airport! They really went above and beyond with service! And to top it off, the location was great. Highly recommended!!

This was our second visit in 2 years but will not be our last . Arrived had a cold 🍺 while waiting for our room . Then Giap the manager came in and saw us .What a greeting he was so surprised and thrilled to see us called me by name . The rooms are well presented very comfortable with all amenities needed. Very quiet hotel , fresh breakfast and great coffee . This is a quaint hotel very close to everything in a little local alley . Giap and his family treat you like family we feel very safe here also . ❤️

I had a delightful stay at this place with wonderful, always smiling staff, a clean room, reasonable price, and a great location. I truly enjoyed my time here. One thing to note is that the roads leading to the hotel are very narrow, making it impossible for cars to enter.

Nice quaint hotel in a quiet location but still centrally located to activities and shopping. Staff were great and accommodating to challenges in our itinerary. Overall, a great value in Saigon

We spent our last days in Saigon in this hotel. (We were there at the end of October) It was amazing choice because we met there one of the most welcoming and friendly poeple in Vietnam. The owners are amazing, very helpful, friendly and they took great care of us! Rooms were amazingly clean! We let there our postcards to be send to Czech Republic so I hope they did not forget to send them :D we had a great time there and mostly because of the owners of the hotel. Thank you again and if we came back to Saigon in the future we will definitely choose your hotel again! :)

Ben Thanh is a modest hotel in a small alley in the heart of District 1. The rooms are quite spacious, super clean and very quiet. It has various restaurants and cafés nearby and all the highlights are within 15-20min walking distance. The owners (Yen and her husband) are really nice people, very helpful and kind. I wish you all the best 😊

This place has outstanding hospitality, clean spacious rooms and is in a great location close to Ben Thành Market. Everyone who we came across went above and beyond to help us with any of our questions and / or requests. The staff was genuine, friendly and experienced. Special thanks goes to the front desk lady, Minh Y who helped us with all our various questions and requests. The location is off the beaten path in an alley, but is easy to find and perfect for anyone wanting to be within walking distance of the main attractions. We enjoyed having some of our meals (to include the free breakfast) out in the charming lobby / courtyard area. We highly recommend Ben Thanh Retreats Hotel for the great value, location and excellent service!!!

Just finished our last 8 days in Saigon and found this hidden gem. What a wonderful time we had. Can't fault the room, the cleanliness, the proximity to everything Saigon has to offer. The staff were fantastic and the manager was an amazing guy who went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. "Long time no see" became our friendly greeting whenever we returned. We will miss you our friend. Can only speak highly of this accomodation and recommend to all.

This hotel has been, hands down, the best stay we’ve had in Asia. From the warm greeting from the hosts, to the spotless cleanliness and location, to the extensive and delicious breakfast options... Ben Thành Retreats was comfortable, meeting our needs and then some! As we’ve travelled through Asia it has been a challenge to find somewhere able to do this~ Usually finding one or more things that did not quite meet up to the expectations we had based on what they advertised. This was definitely not the case here. Somehow they even managed to be close to everything while being tucked away in a quiet little alley. If you have an opportunity to book here do it!

Very welcoming staff and helpful, hotel is a bit hidden away from the main road noise but not hard to find. Breakfast is average. Room is spacious and very clean.

It's very nice place to stay in Ho Chi Minh. It's close from here to national palace, museum of Vietnam War and many good places to eat local food. The thing I like the most about the place is excellent service. The lady (probably the owner) is so helpful, nice and welcoming. You always get offered welcome drink. Breakfast are good :)

Absolutely amazing service from the Ben Thanh team. After coming back for a second stay, I forgot a very important piece of luggage. I contacted Ben Thanh team and asked them to send it to me by Grab scooter 2 hours, to which they shared they had a better local option of putting my lost luggage on a bus for a tenth of the scooter price. They truly went above and beyond. They are lovely, knowledgeable on the area and things to do around town. Rooms were good, clean. Breakfast was good, try the omelette, it’s yum. I can’t recommend this place more. Thank you team!

Hidden in some back alleys, but with google map very easy to find. Staff is very welcoming and you have the feeling you're staying at someones home.  The room is very clean and spacious, and we even had a little balcony to enjoy the views of the neighborhood. The location is amazing! There are so many places to eat, and walking distance from lots of attractions. Breakfast is amazing and not to be missed.  If you want a more initmate setting, rather than a busy hotel, I would definitely recommend this place.

This is a well located hotel with amazing friendly staff. The rooms are very spacious with plenty of storage. Breakfast is plentiful and tasty. The stand out are the staff because they are genuinely friendly and helpful. It is incredible value. During the day when we were there the neighbouring property was having some building work done but no noise at night or early morning. It's worth bearing in mind that there is no access for cars right outside so there is about a 40m walk.

A true hidden gem. Spent 3 nights with an amazing service from everyone. We were warmly greeted with a drink and help with toping up our data plan. Great breakfast and room servicing. Thanks to everyone for an amazing stay and we will gladly be back on our next visit
