Good Indian food within walking distance of the central station.
We came as a group of 3. I ordered a chicken vindaloo and my son ordered a paneer vindaloo (a dish not actually on the menu, but they accommodated his request and made it specially). I must say that this is probably the most authentic tasting vindaloo I've ever had in a restaurant and was absolutely delicious, no disappointment at all. My son and his partner both thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The icing on the cake was that they actually served Ras Malai, a dessert you very rarely see on British Indian restaurant menus. I'll definitely be returning when I'm next in the Hague.
Wide selection of food, to bad I didn’t order too much, cause I already ate before. Most servers were friendly, just one lady who didn’t really have her day. Dishes were great and portions were good. The vindaloo was spicy but not too spicy, maybe they toned it down? We ordered the passionfruit cocktails, they tasted okay, not mind blowing. Restaurant was clean and cozy.
After reading positive reviews on Google, we decided to head to Atithi, an Indian restaurant. Leaving our hotel, we strolled through the lively and charming passage, De Passage, on our way to the restaurant. Initially, we were unsure about the restaurant’s location, ambiance, and food, but our doubts vanished the moment we stepped inside. The first impression was simply wow! The ambiance beautifully blended modern aesthetics with traditional Indian elements. Since the restaurant wasn’t crowded, we chose a cozy spot away from others, enjoying the ample space. Shortly after settling in, the welcoming staff greeted us warmly. We learned that one of the employees – Sukesh, an Indian student, was completing his internship there. We also met a friendly lady Ereena, who shared stories about her family in Ukraine. This led to a delightful and engaging conversation about travel, life, and places to explore in The Hague and Amsterdam. Coincidentally, the Indian student also loved traveling and frequently shared his adventures on Instagram, so we exchanged details to stay connected. For our meal, we ordered classic Indian dishes: plain rice, dal fry, tandoori roti, and vegetable kadai curry. Each dish was freshly prepared and bursting with flavor, making it even more enjoyable since it was our first taste of Indian food in almost a week. Yuven, who hadn’t eaten solid food for a day, devoured his dal rice with delight. To our pleasant surprise, the staff also served us complimentary mango lassi, which was absolutely delicious—a perfect finishing touch to an already satisfying meal. The entire experience, from the excellent food to the warm hospitality, left a lasting impression on us. We paid 50 euros for the meal, feeling it was worth every penny.
Found this indian restaurant on a Google search, it had the most ratings so we gave it a try, we were not disappointed, we had starters, onion bhaji and vegetable samsos, delicious. For mains I ordered the lamb saag gosht, delicious, my wife got the Dal makhani, also delicious, only issue was when she asked for ice, our server said how many cubes, she said 2 but he gave her 3... excellent restaurant, well worth a visit.
I’ll be completely honest. Indian cuisine is something I’ve tried before, but never hit it off. However, this place was really good. The overall taste was amazing. There were just a few small details I didn’t like, such as the sauce’s consistency and the amount of spiciness, but these are entirely personal opinions. Besides, I am not an expert for this cuisine. The atmosphere inside and the attention from the waiters were extraordinary. I tried the Kingsfisher beer and loved it. They also highly praise the Rampur whiskey.
Nice restaurant. Modern interiors. Good service. Irina(hope I heard it right) served us with a friendly smile and some light conversations. So that was great. The place gets quite full over the weekend, so reservation in advance is recommended. I liked the Samosa chaat. The chicken curry was made spicy as per our request. The portions were quite good.
By far the best Indian Restaurant in The Netherlands. Total Indian wibe right from interior, music, lights, sitting arrangements, and offcourse the Food. Ordered Rogan Josh which comes with complimentary white rice and a butter naan. Rogan Josh was as it should be... Perfect. Not to spicy. Lamb was cooked well. I dig lamb dishes whenever I visit Europe and this one satisfied that craving. Butter Naan was also good. Not too buttery and enough crisp. The portion of food was also good. Also ordered Mojito Lust in cocktails and it was well balanced. Not too tangy, not too sweet. Chef Sunil, and his team, Abhishek, Ashish, Dhanesh and Rishabh are doing their best. A warm welcome and cordial interaction made me feel at home. A must visit when you crave of Indian food when you are in The Netherlands.
Good atmosphere and service.
I was craving some Indian cuisine by myself and was greeted by a very kind lady to a table. The music and decor is inviting and carries the atmosphere. I would highly recommend the mango lassi - it is among the best I’ve ever had and I always order it in every restaurant I go to. The tikka masala was great - little spicier than I’m used to but authentic ;), and the naan was of course a great complement. I would prefer an option to replace the rice included in the meal with naan. All servers speak great English, were very friendly and checked in during my meal. Hari Sunil was a highlight, alongside the lady that greeted me and gave me my menu. Though probably out of my regular student budget, I will be returning for special occasions :)
Overall satisfactory
The raita was an absolute delight! The creamy yogurt paired perfectly with the freshness of the cucumber and the subtle kick of spices. It balanced the heat of the main dish beautifully, making every bite refreshing and flavorful. The hint of mint added a lovely aromatic touch, and the burst of pomegranate seeds was a pleasant surprise
Foods were very yummy..
Great restaurant ! Good food. Staff are very friendly and always make an effort to accommodate requests and serve asap even when the restaurant is busy - which is a lot of times the case (showing how popular the place is). will definitely recommend.
Outstanding Indian Cuisine and Exceptional Service Our experience at this hotel was nothing short of amazing, thanks to the most outstanding Indian food we’ve ever had and top-notch service. A special shoutout to Irina, who was incredibly kind and attentive, especially when it came to taking care of our 2-year-old. Her warmth and thoughtfulness truly made our visit memorable. As for the food, you simply can’t go wrong with any dish on the menu. Each item we tried was bursting with flavor and authenticity. I highly recommend the Gulabi Chai, a unique and delightful Kashmiri drink that I haven’t encountered anywhere else. This place is a gem, and we can’t wait to visit again!
Belle experience avec une cuisine exceptionnelle Merci à Abhishek et Sunil
A heartbroken and therefore, long review, thank you in advance for reading: A Deeply Disappointing Experience — Arrogance, Mediocrity, and Stale Food in Disguise as "Authentic Indian Cuisine My friends and I visit this restaurant to satisfy one specific craving: Choley Bhature, a South-Asian street food staple that is holds a very sentimental value for millions in the subcontinent. For context, this dish is made of spiced-up chickpeas (choley) accompanied by deep-fried, spongy leavened bread (bhature). It's comfort food par excellence — heavy, bold, and intensely flavored if made well. Alas, that did not happen here. But our disappointment did not start here. We had also ordered a drinks (two chais and one mango lassi), €19 kebab platter as a starter and three plates of choley bhature. We were immediately given the first red flag when we gave them the order. One of their staff members, who was Hindi speaking, condescendingly told us that choley bhature would "take a while to prepare". Fine — we replied reasonably and offered to wait as long as the dish was well prepared. We understand that it is not as popular as Butter Chicken, or Saag Panner and Naan in the west. The followed was shocking. The staff member proceeded to insinuate that we were lucky we were even going to be served the choley bhature, as their kitchen was too busy, and the one chef had to multitask between our kebab platter and the main course. The attitude and tone were of disdain, arrogance, and thinly disguised irritation, as if we were requesting a favor rather than paying customers for a meal. It was bizarre that we were compared with other guests who have also the food and there is a queue, as if we were cave people who went to visit a restaurant for the first time. Already a bad taste in our mouth, considering there was absolutely 0 need to speak to us in the way. Speaking of bad taste.... The kebab platter that eventually arrived was nothing less than an affront. The meat was chewy, dry, and suspiciously stale — it literally seemed like leftovers over the weekend had been warmed and disguised as new. All the kebabs (Seekh, prawns, chicken tikka) were rubbery in texture, the spices seemed to have disappeared, and it was missing the smoky char and juiciness you get from freshly grilled kebabs. It was bad enough that I had a slight stomach upset afterward —fortunately, no food poisoning, but definitely not the sort of reaction you'd expect on a €19 appetizer. Even the chai felt microwaved, spilled as the spillage on the outer surface of the cup was not wiped off, and completely lacking in freshness, dished up as if it were an afterthought. We had the pleasure of being served average cuisine served with contempt. Furthermore, it is strange that the moment we want to depart from the typical Garlic Naan-Butter Chicken dishes that is setup for non-Indians, and want to explore as eaters who have deep love, sentiment and nostalgia for the food we ate growing up in our home country, and ask for a simple replication in a premium restaurant — we are met with defensiveness, dismissiveness, and even thinly veiled hostility. Indian cuisine holds massive potential to stand tall internationally, but it's not going to happen through eateries like this one — where customer service is tongue-in-cheek, the kitchen appears to be content to reuse old dishes, there is capacity issue on Monday evening, and the spirit of Indian hospitality is absent. In the end, €100 for microwaved drinks, mediocre and stale food and an experience marred by rudeness and condescending attitudes resulted in a pretty bummed out evening. We arrived full of hopes. We departed disappointed.
It was good
Lieve bediening, Irina, heeft alles goed verzorgd. Mooi, uiterlijk restaurant. Was erg fijn
Authentic Indian Flavours and Exceptional Service at Atithi We are Indians and food enthusiasts, and we are always on the lookout for a good eating experience, especially authentic Indian flavours. We had an outstanding lunch at Atithi, easily the best Indian food we've had in our five years in the Netherlands. The flavors were authentic, the quality of ingredients was evident, and the balance of spices was perfect—nothing felt overly oily or heavy. The service was equally impressive, with Bharat being exceptionally attentive and ensuring a smooth dining experience. Every dish we tried showcased the chef’s expertise. The Southern Chicken Soup was a standout, with its punchy, coconut-based flavors. The Baingan Bharta had a wonderful smoky depth, and the Mutton Rogan Josh was fragrant, flavorful, and perfectly moist, with its signature red hue. The Dal Makhni was rich, creamy, and indulgent. Even something as simple as the basmati rice was of excellent quality, complementing the dishes beautifully. There were a few minor areas where things could be elevated further. The Gulabi Chai could have been more fragrant, and while the Paneer Jodhpuri Tikka had a perfect spice and yogurt marinade, the paneer itself could have been softer. The Chicken Tikka Angara was very tasty but leaned slightly on the dry side. Lastly, the Kesar Malai Cake was a delightful fusion dessert with subtle flavors, though the cake could have been more moist. Despite these small points, Atithi delivered an exceptional dining experience. If you're looking for authentic, high-quality Indian food in the Netherlands, this is the place to go. We left delighted with our experience, and we’ll definitely be returning!
I came here yesterday to celebrate birthday . Some indian guy named abhi was excellent with his service and we were well served and taken care of . Appreciate the staff was very polite. Looking forward to dine-in again . Thanks
Excellent food and service with special thanks to Sukesh. We had an amazing dinner here, flavors were spot on and authentic, it’s up there with some of our favorite Indian restaurants in New York. The only small criticisms I would add was that the portions of bread and dessert were a bit small. Overall superb and will be back soon.
We loved the food, Chef Sunil and Abhishek have been very courteous and kind, we enjoyed thoroughly. Would love to visit again. Must try- Butter chicken, Murg Anagara, Garlic Naan, Samosa chaat.
