Wow what a fantastic little place. We ordered WAY too much because the portions were so good. We had the pork souvlaki, Greek salad, grilled octopus, olives and bread. Everything was delicious and the owner was super friendly! We even got a free dessert at the end. All for under 30 euro. Incredible. We'll worth the climb up the hill!

Pros: It is located in warm and traditional area of Thessaloniki were the houses are more beautiful and you don't see high block of flats. Tavern is clean. The atmosphere inside the tavern is very cosy, accompanied by retro decoration and old Greek music. The food in general is nice. Definitely try the sandwiches. The are big with many ingredients inside, at a very affordable price (3.5 Euro). On other plates, the quantity of the food for Greek people standards is medium. Neutral: Orders are received from a gentleman in high age, who seems to be the owner. He is distinct and speaks unwilling. Neutral: The service is very very slow. They brought the salad after 45 minutes. Some dishes are very oily i.e. pastourmadopita. If you like to add some extra it is difficult. My girlfriend and I had one of our best meals in a long long time here. This is a family-run, authentic restaurant and everything is of the highest standard whilst being reasonably priced for a large portion. Sitting outside on the cobbled street with the atmosphere of the other nearby eateries is truly a treat for the senses and I cannot recommend this place highly enough. As others have stated, the moussaka is utterly incredible.

The place is what you are asking from a Greek tavern! We ordered more dishes but we had so much fun eating that we forgot to take pictures of them. Try their stuffed chicken breast with cheese parmesan and their beef meatballs. The salad was served in a huge seashell which is all about Greece! The seashell was very big as you can see in comparison with the other plates next to it. The tzatziki a traditional yoghurt and garlic appetizer was fresh and homemade! The garlic was whole and not powdered so yes, it has a strong odour but that's the charm in tzatziki. We also ordered traditional homemade bread with "prozymi" which is a special yeast bread high in protein, with garlic, traditional Greek cheese and fresh tomatoes. At the end we were served for absolutely free traditional Greek deserts, "sokolatopita putigkas", "pagoto me kaimaki" ke "melomeno ravani". Sigh! Let me try and translate those, the first one is a special chocolate cake with pudding. Then it is Greek coffee flavoured ice cream and lastly is a type of cake made with semolina flour with citrus flavours and covered with fresh honey. Trust me they are way more tasty and lovely than described. The service by the manager Mr.Spiros is excellent and he is a genuine Greek simple and humble person that loves his job and provides the best of quality and lots of quantity to his customers. The place is found in Ano Salonica or Old Town Salonica, in the area the locals call as Ta Kastra and it is approximately a ten minutes walk by the ancient Vlatades monastery in the entrance of the Eptapirgion. I highly recommend that you visit all of these places in an afternoon and end you evening with a feast at this place, To Pritanion. I will visit again as soon as I visit Salonica again.

It was chewy and not tasty at all. The salad was not fresh. The bread was nothing special. One of the best of Thessaloniki? What a joke.

I ate here back in May, the dishes were absolutely delicious! I couldn’t ask for a better restaurant, the food and the service is some of the best I have had in Greece. I lost my bag here and had to fly back to Germany the next day, so I called the restaurant and they went out of their way to send me my things with the best priced package!
