A lovely surprise. The venue is right on the sea and offers a terrace, beyond the normal roadside seating, with a great view of the sunset. The staff were polite, attentive and involved in a fabulous way. Considering location, food quality, environment and price (cheaper than what I expected) I'll sure go back again.

Awful food, no flavour, no substance. It’s not authentic which I understand for a touristy place, but the quality is bad. The tomatoes are bland. Octopus was bland. Calamari was boring. Greek salad of all things was so cheaply made, cheap rubbery feta. Mushrooms were watery and smothered in too much balsamic. Also very overpriced, €43 for 2 people. Man who served us was friendly and that’s all the good I have to say about the place. A picture of all the food we left because it was tasteless.

Seafood(we ordered grilled octopus and shrimp) over priced, not fresh, taste quite tough and crumbly. Grilled octopus only has two tentacles for 13.50 euros, not worth it in my opinion. One of the staff was a little rude while telling us to wait when we asked to have our orders taken. Probably won’t recommend this place to anyone looking for fresh seafood along the coast.

I used to eat here before the pandemic, as the prices and view are good as well as the food and services. It’s pleasing to find the owner make the tavern have more open space downstair. Upstair at the first line of balcony is with the view of seaside which I always prefer. I was satisfied with the taste of seafood here including mussels and octopus as they are excellent as usual, however, the salad, hot pepper and cheese are not so fresh nor tasty. Most disappointing was the service upstair, regardless of the amount of dishes I ordered, the staff arranged for me and my friend to sit in small table which is obviously not enough for placing all of our orders while there is still many big tables left empty. Surely the time our orders arrived there was no place for putting them and the staff just handed the plates over to us until we have no hands to take more plates. Then finally he had other staff to pull over one more small table to the corner we sit for placing rest of the dishes. Overall, I give 3.5 for the food served this time and 2 for the attitude of the service we had. Last but not the least, I really hope the owner would be able to find good staffs like that they used to have for providing customers with better services and environment for dinning.

It was disgusting. We ordered two fish platters, a side of grilled veg and fries. Everything tasted of burnt grill and was over cooked. The plating put us off immediately as the ‘side salad’ was just raw onion and grated carrot & onion 😒 and the fish was definitely not worth the price. Posting a photo of the side salad which we were afraid to touch. Can’t speak for the meats they offer but stay away from the fish section 🙏🏼

Excellent front sea location of Greek taverna. Nice view from terrace. Interior is traditional. Nice pictures on the exterior walls 😀 Food is very tasty as always. Staff very friendly. Looking forward to return again.

Beautiful restaurant right in front of the sea, with amazing greek retro design. Service was good and fast. The food was overall good- the cheese croquettes were delicious, but the main dishes were served a bit cold. The greek salad could use more seasoning and olive oil, it was a bit plain. Prices are normal - 50 euros for two people.

Great view on the sea, especially from the balcon. If you sit next to the pedestrians, you're going to be constantly disturbed by beggars and such... The seafood is fresh and tender, but the taste is really blend. The main waiter is a good guy, he tried his best, but we could have had a better experience with better staff.

Balkonaki is a cozy greek restaurant right in front of the sea, with an amazing view. The food is very good and tasty, the service / staff was very fast and friendly. We ate saganaki shrimps, grilled vegetables and squid, chicken souvlaki, greek beef stew in tomato sauce and of course greek tzatziki.

This is the best place to have your lunch there in Sessaloniki in my opinion. The food and the prices are very good. I really enjoyed the beautiful sea view sitting there with the yummy salad.

I rarely leave a negative review - because what are the odds of having everything go bad? Well this was that: terrible all around and a tourist trap. The food was delivered as soon as we placed the order, it felt reheated (the octopus was super dry, bland, and horribly dishes out. Even the salad next to it looked old). The salad was tasteless to say the least. We couldn’t stomach the idea of prolonging the dinner so we ordered the check, paid at once and left. And this is why the service also sucked, because no one even bothered to ask us if anything went wrong. To be avoided at all costs, especially that there are so many other options for authentic places nearby to dine, enjoy the view and overall experience.

The wall art is cool. These two paintings are on the outside of the building. Google translate either doesn't do a good job or the sentiment is lost in translation. Does anyone know what this is trying to say, not exactly what it says? I get the one with the kids, but the one with scooter.... Woman getting a drivers license? Help?

I've been here a couple of times and everything was amazing every single time. The food is tasty and it arrives fats, the waiters are also super nice and even gave us a desert on the house. Definitely going there again next time I visit Thessaloniki.

Waiters are so nice, they gave us free desserts. :) The view from the balcony is perfect, you can watch sunset from here. The food is great and the prices are normal, nothing too expensive. My friends tried some wine and they loved it

Fresh fish and sea food, well made. Decent prices, too. Kudos to the owners for putting a bit more effort than average in detailing and creating nice atmosphere in the winter edition of the terrace.

Nice location, we had a salad, risotto and pasta. The pasta and the salad were good, the risotto not so much. Nice service.

Always a pleasure to eat at Balconaki. View is incredible, food is incredible, great service! We drop by each time we visit Thessaloniki.
