The rooms are all nice and clean, the food is not what you would expect from a 5* hotel, most of the staff members are friendly and helping but there are others that are rude. The hotel is neither close to the sight seeing locations nor to other places worth visiting. To top it all off, one of the security guards was behaving inappropriately and like a bully which made the whole experience even worse. DON'T GO THERE! ONOMA HOTEL that is located just a few blocks away is wayyy better with about the same price.

⚠️:For everyone who is expecting a normal "Holiday Inn" will be disappointed. We stayed 4 nights in this hotel. The rooms are old and there are several issues. The windows are part broken and not really thick. You can hear the cars very load in the nights in some rooms. The bath does not meet the expected quality: The showers are bathtubs with a curtain. In our room the lock of the bathtub was broken. The toilet seat is made out of cheap plastic. The climate control is very load and super old. A huge highlight is the service: At all complaints they were very nice and tried there best to help us. If you have a room in the front of the hotel which is load, ask for a room in the back of the hotel! They will help you. The checkin and checkout was also fast and friendly! However the rooms require an renovation before I would come to this place again.

We stayed there several days, passing through Thessaloniki and we didn’t regret it. Of course, it is an old and dated hotel which had its heyday in the 70s. It must had been the epitome of luxury then. Now, it badly needs some major, and expensive, modernization work. The carpets are old, the AC is loud (but effective) and the pool very little and in fact useless for most guests - I think they should use the space for other and better purposes . But the hotel still has a lot of charm, offers a good value for money, good breakfast, good and central location, professional and serviceminded staff, and good toiletries from Dove. It’s clean and friendly, has good procedural standards and a good choice when you want to stay in Thessaloniki

Must admit that I was really impressed with the quality of this Hotel. location is excellent as it is on the main street of Thessaloniki and a short walk from the railway station. Double glazed windows so room was silent as well. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and very comfortable and was contemporary. The breakfast was buffet style and with a great range of sweet and savory food. Price was very reasonable considering that it was high season. Would definitely recommend and will stay again when in Thessaloniki! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We suffered in this hotel. We didn't like the breakfast food at all. We got a room which was in a very bad condition. Everything was broken or not functioning. The refrigerator stopped working so we had to throw out our food. There was flood from the sewerage on the floor. No safety bracket in the sink for contact lenses. The curtain was dirty. We couldn't lock our room. We were offered some other rooms to move to, but they seemd worse. We will definitely never return to this hotel.

The hotel is 20 minutes' walk from the center and 10 minutes from Ladadika. The rooms are small but clean. The indoor pool cannot accommodate more than 10 people. The roof terrace offers a nice view of the city. The breakfast was excellent. For short staying is ok.

Lobby and the restaurants in the first and ninth floor are renovated, but the elevators and rooms are likely same as they were twenty years ago. Personel are absolutely top quality: polite, friendly and helpful. Location is quite good: walking distance from restaurants, and little bit farther is the city center.. nearby area is bit rough.

Unfortunately not a good experience. I paid 470 euros through a booking from Booking.com. The price is not justified by the offered facilities. I booked with the view of being offered a pool and I was told the implausible excuse that it was closed for a week for technical reasons. After submitting a complaint, I was offered free breakfast during my whole stay. The breakfast is mediocre and uninspiring, one can find far better versions of it in other 5 star hotels. Overall, you don't get what you pay for, and the value for money is disappointing, and under no circumstances justifying the ranking in the 5 star category.

Want this to be a fair review. The hotel is clean and service staff are generally great. Big shout-out to Stella and Evi upstairs bar. Rooms are just ok need a bit of TLC. Breakfast was underwhelming . Overall i would still recommend staying there. Elisavetta at front desk is also super lovely. Location not bad not the greatest either.Thank you for your hospitality ❤️

I have spent 2 short stays at the HI Thessaloniki in October 2020. The staff was extremely nice when it came to room requests (balcony, smoker/non-smoker, ...) and helpful at any time (a letter for me did not arrive on time, and they were so kind to forward it to my home address). The hotel location is central, a 10 min walk away from the sea, and close to many shops and cafés of the lively neighborhood. The rooms and the hotel may not be brand-new, but they were clean and well-maintained and reasonably priced. Recommended!

I really like this hotel! 🤩🤗❤❤❤ Location is great. Comfortable rooms with terrace 😃 Houskeeping - great job! Every day cleaning the room and change the towels, etc... Check-in was perfect! All men (only men) at reception and lobby are very polite, profesional and friendly. Hostess in the front of the dinning restaurant - super! 👏 Breakfast is good. It is not the newest hotel but it is definitely imy favourite in Thessaloniki 😃 Big regards for our check-in receptionist. He made our stay perfect 🥰

Staying here for two days. During the check-in Rafalia at the front desk was courteous and professional. After we checked into our suite, the Wi-Fi wasn't working, and AC in the adjoining room wasn't working. Rafalia took care of them quickly. The bed was/is very comfortable, Everything is done tastefully. Walking distance from quaint restaurants, bars, and cafes (100s). Also only 1-2 miles from the White Tower, and the museums. However, It is on the main road with practically constant traffic, so lower floors could get some road noise despite well insulated windows. We will stay here again.

I was here with a group for four nights. Newly renovated public areas and room. Very clean and comfortable. The insulation in the room from the road was sufficient. I was on the fourth floor. Food and bar prices are much higher than outside the hotel and that's probably the reason I didn't see anyone using those facilities. Breakfast was adequate. I found the Geek Yogurt and tomatoes to be tasteless. It would be nice to have lemon provided without asking each day. I would stay here again given the low price and high level of comfort.

Very kind staff , central location , extra clean facilities and exceptional pool on the top of the building. A must visit when it's super hot outside. Enjoyed the snacks and drinks at the pool as well.

It was a sad little room with a literally tiny bathroom that I could barely enter because the sink was blocking the door. Stains on the old bathtub and a faint sewage smell. A/C was poor, I cranked it the whole night and at the morning the hotel corridor was still cooler. Breakfast was seemingly complete but most of the cooked offerings (scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, etc) were poorly executed. By 9 o clock that I went to eat, several dishes were out and the refills came after half an hour. Parking spaces at the basement were so cramped that they shouldnt charge for it. Overall a failed experience, I wouldnt recommend nor visit again.

Pros: ~ The bellboy as well as the personnel who was asking for our names during breakfast were very nice. ~ Breakfast had a good range of selection ~ The rooms were cleaned every day ~ There was a balcony and a sliding door I could open every night to get some fresh air ~ The receptionist on my last day was also nice and friendly Cons: ~ My parents checked in at another 5 star hotel nearby and everything looked very different from more spacious rooms to better looking lobby as well as more accommodating personnel. ~ On my second day, I complained about the balcony door that couldn’t be closed and I know it was all just in my head and I was on 4th floor and yet, I struggled to sleep at night feeling a little unsafe because even after asking the receptionist for a check up, nobody came to do so, nor I wasn’t asked to move rooms. ~ For a 5 star hotel, the bathroom wasn’t looking all too 5 star~ ish. the toilet was way too old fashioned and it wasn’t flushing properly, there was a window that I couldn’t have opened on my own because I’m literally just 4’11 in height, the bathtub where I couldn’t take a bath in as the drain couldn’t be closed completely, the shower curtain wasn’t waterproof so I guess the cleaning lady needed to dry it everyday. ~ I suffer from Dermatitis hence I needed cool air every night but the air con couldn’t be turned on yet,so I had the balcony door opened every night. Good thing I don’t mind the noise or else I would have gone crazy… All in all, I couldn’t give this Holiday Inn a 5 star neither a 4 as I didn’t really feel like it’s worth it. I’ve been to other “3 star hotels” that looked way better than here but it was still a good experience, nevertheless, looking past all that.

Be prepared. Worse 5 star hotel Shame of the service. Rude on reception. We are a family of 10 and asked 5 rooms on same floor before reservation. Get 1 room on 2nd floor, 3 rooms on 4th and 1 room on 5th.. There is no shower curtain in one room. The road is very noisy, and windows does not close properly. In addition, in children's room, there is a strong smell of smoke 🚬.. disaster

Our experience at the hotel was a mix of positives and negatives. The first room had drainage issues, but the staff eventually upgraded us to a better room. The hotel's age shows, marked by an old-building smell and rather dated rooms. The parking is small; tolerable, yet not especially comfortable. On the plus side, the bar staff were notably friendly, and the breakfast was generally good, aside from the juices. It was a mixed experience, with room for improvement in some areas.

Good service, but the building and the rooms are definitely not of a 5* hotel and even less in usual IHG standards

Hotel in good position. Room with old fornitures, found minibar empty just a small bottle of water. Breakfast they can do better.

An old place. But very friendly staff, clean rooms and interior, good variety of food for breakfast.

Hotel under renovation. The rooms should also be renovated. Old furniture, pool very shallow. The food is not bad, the view is nice. Access to the parking lot is poor; there is not much space.

The hotel is situated about 500 meters from the bus station in an almost central location of the city. There are convenience stores, restaurants and coffee shops located in a radius of 200 meters from the hotel which makes it very convenient. Although the hotel is old, it is still operating very well. The reception, concierge, house keeping and restaurant staff are all very efficient and eager to help. The buffet breakfast which was served was simple and cheap. It only cost an additional €5 per person. The wifi signal was strong throughout the hotel and the balcony in room surely made a difference.

NO BIKES ARE ALLOWED TO BE KEPT IN THE ROOM, pets or smokers welcome. We had to leave. Edit: can you please direct me to where this policy is visible on your website.

Not bad, although the rooms are a bit tired-looking and need refurbishing. Housekeeping staff are very noisy in the corridors so don't expect to sleep in any later than 8am! Nice food in the restaurant and the buffet breakfast was very good.

It was probably a nice hotel in the 1980s but ever since it hasn’t seen much improvement. AC needs to run on full power to have a somewhat okay temperature in the room. Staff is not particularly friendly and try to cheat you into worse rates than promoted online - the guy at the reception offered 100 eur per night and I said on their website it’s 70 eur to which he said that’s not possible. After booking through the website while waiting at the reception it magically became possible. So book in advance.

Hotel is dated but food is good. The room is not modern. However it is one of the only few international chain hotel in the city centre with very reasonable rate. Hence the good rating from me.

The staff is very friendly and eager. the rooms are clean and the beds are very comfortable. in the breakfast room the offer is very large - there is something for every taste :-) I was happy with the service-oriented staff and the air conditioner in the room. I can recommend this hotel.

You don't have to be Real Royalty to feel like Royalty. From the checking in to walking into your room I Felt/ Feel special. The restaurant food is to cooked for Royalty You and I, but don't take my word for it, prove me wrong. The price you pay for pampering is well worth it and I'm worth pampering at least once a month. Come alone, bring your kids, mom, dad, boss, special someone or just You,Yourself and You. It's okay to be selfish every now and then. This is my first visit and am very picky traveler, once I found this hotel 🏨, I don't need to look anywhere else.

The staff were incredible! Incredibly willing to support our unique needs as a couple of backpackers who got caught up by a lack of trains due to COVID. Before we booked our room the staff advised us on where we could seek help with our journey, it was because of this that we came back to book with them and stay there in the interim. The breakfast was incredible, the spread was far and plenty and all very nice. We had an incident with the electricity in our room but after mentioning this to the staff we were moved to a new room with haste. The staff allowed us to stay for much longer then the original departure time and we’re incredibly accommodating. We would go again just to be in the good company of the staff.
