Small museum but full of information. Excellent bridgehead and showcase of our military and colonial history. I await the development of other memorial sites towards a wider, richer horizon to house the rich heritage of the armed forces. Be careful, time passes and the witnesses leave. I am sure that the command is thinking about it and will quickly consider allocating human, structural and financial resources to it.

In addition to the classically Senegalese welcome, therefore deliciously warm, the historical interest dictates that school children should be taken there, planning a twinning with the museum of black civilizations. This is a work of public service! Special thanks to Amadou whose wonderful patience was dazzling.

The marking on Google Maps is wrong. It's ten minutes' walk from the actual location, and there's a gas station opposite. You are not allowed to take pictures in the museum. You need to go to the secretariat on the right to buy a ticket first, and then start waiting for the tour guide to arrive. It took a long time for the tour guide to arrive, who only spoke French. But he kept talking on the phone, and it was actually faster for us to visit by ourselves. But the secretary was very polite. Seeing that we had been waiting for so long, he even took us to see the cars of former presidents.

This museum is SUPER SUPER interesting. I really urge people to visit it in order to learn many things about the history of Senegal (resistance against colonization, the participation of the Senegalese in the world wars, etc.) and the functioning of the army. The guides do their job very well. You will even be able to see the cars of presidents Senghor and Diouf at the time. 10/10. Would recommend!!

This museum is located in Dakar, the capital of Senegal. Its aim is to preserve and present the military history of Senegal, as well as the evolution of the country's armed forces. The Senegalese Armed Forces Museum displays a variety of artifacts, military equipment, historical documents, photographs and other items relating to Senegal's military history. It allows visitors to better understand Senegal's involvement in regional and international conflicts, as well as the evolution of its armed forces over time.

I really liked this museum. Entrance is 1,000 CFA francs. I made the visit in August 2022. We learned a lot of interesting information about the Senegalese riflemen and their role in the various great Western wars. The only negative points are that during the visit carried out by a military guide, there were several soldiers (3-4) following us. Being alone during the visit, it was very intimidating...And it is strictly forbidden to film or take photos in the museum. Apparently letting visitors take photos and film would have a negative impact on museum attendance. As a result, it is not possible to have souvenirs from this museum, which is an extremely shame. I even tried to record the visit in secret but the guide who noticed it forced me to give him my phone at the end of the visit and deleted all the content I had captured . Hopefully this rule will be removed very quickly.

Aide à connaître l'histoire des Armées de la colonisation française à nos jours. Recommandé pour les touristes en quête d'histoire militaire sénégalaise mais surtout pour les étudiants qui préparent leurs examens en histoires sur les résistants sénégalais

Museum to visit at all costs (especially since the latter is, literally, very affordable). It is preferable, if you want to fully immerse yourself in the elements that you will see in this museum, to reserve a good hour and a half of your schedule: the guides are very cultured and generous, they will share with you juicy details that will help you will build on whole sections of the history of Senegal of the AOF as a general rule.
