The swamp has been in existence as has been synonymous since the colonial era. It has provided the region with a nice ecosystem with the water serving hundreds of people for years. However, there is no proper governmental institution caring for the swamp, making it slowly degrade and disappear

The swamp is just that, a swamp, but the surrounding neighborhood was very beautiful, green mature trees, a very tranqui silence and decent all weather roads. A very ideal place for a home.

The swamp is about 1/2 Km from Kikuyu town. It provides water to the town and is also used for irrigation around it's hinterland. It is also a tourist attraction with various kinds of birds.

My geography teacher told me that beneath the swamp is a big river whose source is lake Naivasha moving eastwards ending up into the Indian Ocean.
