Sri kanchi kamakoti peetham, also known as the sri kanchi matham, or the sri kanchi monastery, or the sarvagna peetha, is a hindu monastery located in kanchipuram, tamil nadu. It is located near a temple dedicated to goddess sri kamakshi and a shrine to advaita vedanta teacher adi shankara. The matha is a living tradition that continues to pursue spiritual scholarship in modern times. since february 2018, vijayendra saraswathi shankaracharya swamigal has been the head of the institute.🙏🥰😍🚩

The Mutt is very clean and neat. Well maintained by the management. After noon Aarthi I attended. There was full silence and very peaceful atmosphere. The Great Chandrasekara Saraswati and Jayendra Saraswati Brindavan is so beautiful. Anyone visit will get very peaceful and Guru Blessings.

Heaven on earth. The peace that I find here, I don't find anywhere else on Earth. This is where the Paramcharya of Kanchi lived a major part of his life & continues to do so.

Absolute Divine place. There is so much of positive energy. Don’t forget to visit Ghosala behind the Brindavanam. Carry some bananas to the cows and they like them the most. Matam is absolute non-commercial.

The Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham is a revered monastic organization in Hinduism, headquartered in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, India. Established by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century, it is one of the oldest and most prominent Advaita Vedanta institutions. The peetham serves as the spiritual seat for the Kamakoti matha, and its pontiff holds the title of the Shankaracharya. The peetham plays a pivotal role in preserving and propagating Advaita Vedanta philosophy, emphasizing the non-dualistic nature of reality. The Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham has been instrumental in promoting Vedic education, scriptural studies, and the practice of Sanatana Dharma (eternal principles). The main matha in Kanchipuram is dedicated to Goddess Kamakshi, and it attracts devotees and scholars from around the world. The peetham also has branches in various parts of India, contributing to the dissemination of spiritual teachings. Throughout its history, the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham has been actively involved in social welfare activities, including education, healthcare, and relief efforts during natural disasters. The successive Shankaracharyas have played significant roles in guiding the spiritual and cultural landscape of India. The Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham stands as a beacon of Advaita Vedanta, fostering spiritual growth and cultural heritage, while also engaging in humanitarian endeavors for the welfare of society.

digene place Shri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham was established by Sri Adi Sankara in the year 482 B.C. and has the distinction of an unbroken line of 70 Acharyas (spiritual leaders). Bhagavatpada Sankara got Kanchi city remodeled and also caused the reconstruction of the three principal temples of Kanchi, viz., the temples of Sri Ekamranatha, Devi Kamakshi and Sri Varadaraja with the assistance of Rajasena, ruler of Kanchi. Sankara consecrated the Srichakra before Devi Kamakshi and thereby secured Her bounteous grace for devotees having Her darshan. Charitable trusts, established with the blessings of the Acharyas come to the aid of poor families to enable them to perform marriages of their daughters, Homes for the Aged and uncured for are functioning with a considerable number of inmates in each. Also, at Kalavai (Tamil Nadu), a home for the disabled is also functioning. Handicapped persons are provided with tricycles, artificial limbs, etc. Several organisations take care of the rural and neglected areas. Unemployed youths are provided with means for starting some craft to earn their livelihood. Likewise women are given sewing machines as a self-employment measure. Nithya Annadhanam (free food) is provided to all devotees visiting Kanchi and the Math. The "Pidi Arisi Thittam" (Handful of Rice) scheme is running successfully at many places. Under this scheme, every household sets apart just a handful of rice every day and this will be collected by a central agency once a week, cooked in some temples and offered as neivedya to the deity and then distributed to the poor and needy. Prasadam, blessed by the Acharyas are distributed to the patients in hospitals, inmates of jails, orphanages, etc. The Math runs "Go-Shalas" (shelter for the cows). Victims of flood, famine, earthquake and other natural calamities are being helped in various ways under the orders of the Acharyas. "Dharmo Rakshati Rakshita".

This is the abode of the holy Shankaracharya of Kanchi. The Peetam itself is very well maintained. But sadly the government does nothing to build awareness of the place, its legacy and promote more area and visitors. There is absolutely no parking around and instead a busy and noisy junction is has been created. The surroundings are not congenial to the historic importance of the place - if you visit it you'll know. Once you enter you will find a huge meditation hall with the life size statue of Jagadguru Chandrashekhara Saraswathi. You will find a nice meditation hall facing the samadhi sthala of the erstwhile Jagadgurus. The goshala behind is clean with washroom facility near it. While Google doesn't specify, the Peetam is closed from 12-4 pm just like the temples at Kanchipuram. I wish though that they had kept the meditation halls open. I wish that more people visit, donate and

Kanchi Maha Periyava Adhistaanam where we forget ourselves by entering there. Maha Periyava showed us the way of mukti and the importance of prayer. Everyone should visit Adhistaanam whenever they get a chance to visit kanchipuram.
