One major tourist destination is GAVI. You can access by KSRTC bus and private vehicle. In case of private car booking required to enter the forestry area. Best time is mansoon during small rain you can enjoy all over the journey. You can see lot of dams and different areas of forest. Almost 3 hours required to reach gavi. For lunch KSEB canteen only available and booking is mandatory. We had lunch near Kochu Pamba dam KSEB canteen. It was a good lunch with fish and some vegetarian dishes. Gavi is highly recommended for those who want enjoy each scene from the thick forest.

Last week I visited Gavi. I was staying at Vagamon. I have booked pass for Gavi. Gavi pass is issued through Angamoozhy . If u are staying at Vagamon u are not allowed to go through Vandipariyar Gavi Route. When I reached there Forest officer declined our Pass. There is a bus service in every 2 hrs which they will show 1 point and Gavi Dam . They charge 320/- per ticket. After lot Request he said there is office of Kerala Forest development corporation. They arrange full day Tour . It cost u 1650/- . Including breakfast, veg lunch and Evening Tea. We booked that Program. After u take ticket they will allow u to Travel in your vehicle to Gavi. Which is 20 k.m from the Check post. If u are Lucky then only u can see Animal on the Route. We Reach the KFDC office in our Vehicle. They welcome us. They had Given 1 guide with Us for Gavi. It a treking from there. They first show 1 museum in which 1 Elephant skeleton is preserved. After that treaking starts. Guide will ask u how many hours u would like to Treak. There is 1 hr and 2 HR treak. We told him from wre we can see Sabrimala we will go from there. It was on the way of 1 hr treak. Just within 1000 mtr treak u can see Sabrimala. We sit on the Top of that hill from there we can see Ponambhalamedu and sabrimala. After that it was just coming Down from the hill. If u choose 2 HR treak u can't see Sabrimala view. We wre unlucky we can't see any Animal at Gavi.After that we visited Cardomon plantation . By that time it was 12 P.M. They have arranged Tang juice for all visitors. We had Tang and then we went for Boating at Gavi Dam. Our Guide took us for Boating. From there they will take us to 1 waterfall. Which is beautiful. After Boating we had Lunch and Took Our Gate Pass. My Advice is there If u Saw Ordinary Malayalam movie and Went to see Gavi . U will spoil your Mood. Only 2 or 3 Shots are shooted at Gavi balance Full movie is shooted in some other place. Rs1650/- is very Costly Deal for Such a Treaking I think so. So Better Think Twice before Going to Gavi.

The beginning of Monsoon is the best time to visit gavi . Gavi one day trip plans are provided by the KSRTC department,and it's one of the safest ways to visit this forest area. During this journey you could see several mini dams,view points etc.. And if you are lucky you could see animals like Elephants,Sambar deer, Lion-tailed macaque, Indian giant squirrel, Indian gaur ,leopards etc

Had an amazing experience driving through this forest. There are 5 dams and 1 Lake to see. You will not find much wild animals in the forest but you will enjoy the drive. Weather is very chilling as you climb the hill, also the view gets better and better.

Beautiful experience here.. such a wonderful 60km forest drive . We Can spot elephants through out this 60km forest ride.. Go slowly for spotting animals and beware of wild animals mainly elephants.

Pleasant experience. Ladies behind the counter interact in a good way. Can buy t shirts and other things from there. Overall good one.

This is the place one has to visit first to get the paper pass to visit Gavi. Though you book online, first reach this place and convert the online pass to paper pass. Then only one can enter inside Gavi forest. There are some ladies who sells lunch here. At Gavi area, without prior booking getting lunch is tough. Hence, one shall buy food from here. If you have the KSEB Canteen at Kochu Pampa area, you can call and boo there as well. I will post the contact details in KSEB canteen page. Staff here will help to clear the pass. No much support to be solicited.

Should get there early, only 20 vehicles are allowed in a day. It looks thrilling in maps, but hectic to drive long 3-4 hours minimum
