This is one of very old hotel in Trivandrum. My grandfather used to bring my mother and uncle here in their childhood some 50-55 years back as now they are in 60's. This hotel is very nostalgic for people like them who were in fort area then and coincidentally Lakshmi Nair showed video of it in YouTube recently with same background. I and my mother went there and my mother was excited to taste the same after many years. To her surprise, they haven't retained taste of food how it was many years back and mainly their Poori used to be very small in size and won't be fluffy (i.e. Maida wasn't used earlier) at all like how its today which is what you get in any other hotel today. All curries was just watery and didn't had much different taste except that it was bit sweet and bland. Potato curry didn't have single potato , onion, green gram curry didn't have much of green gram, another curry which had cabbage in it didn't gel well with Poori. Chopped Onions with some sweetness was good. Masala Tea was good. Earlier they used to have sautéed Thondan Chilly as one of the item which isn't kept now. My mother felt old taste of curries is lost as it used to be tastier unlike how bland it is now and also Poori preparation is completely different now. She feels that they haven't passed on the cooking style to next generation properly. We were interacting with another family who also visited this hotel from 90's and even they agreed that taste has changed long back itself. In such case celebrity like Lakshmi Nair should tell the truth and not mislead the people saying it's still having old taste as it is. I definitely didn't like this at all and I felt for the quality they are offering, its not worth the hype. But yes, for people in their 50's or 60's, its nostalgic for them as during their generation this hotel was one if its kind with unique taste. I didn't feel any kind of uniqueness when I tasted, neither for my mother who loved it earlier. For today's generation, they can just go and try it for namesake. Overall its an average food now, just hype nothing more !!

Wow! Amazing food. Highly recommended. Only Locals know this place. There is a waiting time of 15 minutes usually . The puri set has three different Currys, dal/Lentils, green lentils, and dahi curry with 3 puris. It is served hot. Not much seating is present here, so you have to manage seating next to strangers and enjoy the food. Online payment is available. Just two menu items are present here. Puri set and masala Chai. Amazing food 😋. The puri and the bhaji that you get here is amazing.

This place is worth all the hype. The hot poori set served with sliced onion achar papadam and 3 type of curry is just super. Dining space is less but it nice to eat there. Shop is open in the evening and walkable distance from east fort. You have to wait for a while to get seats. Parcel is also available and we took one set parcel too.

Excellent place to get Poori papad combination. Only problem is the seating capacity. Hotel can occupy only around 20 people at a time, so you may have to wait for sometime before enjoying the dish. Pricing is also very reasonable.

One of the oldest restaurants in Thiruvananthapuram. They serve poori only along with masala tea. Both are very delicious. The curries, salad and pappad along with poori is just awesome. It's a small restaurant with limited seating space. They can accommodate hardly 20 people at a time. Usually it is a busy spot in the evening time. One set poori costs Rs.60, while one poori costs Rs.20. Tea - Rs.15

One of the most nostalgic eatery for the locals. Knows as the annachi puri kada.. Three puris, three subjis, one pappadam, onion and pickle for just 65 rupees! Tea is delicious and is 15 rupees. That’s it, the shop serves nothing more, yet it’s sold out most days.. Subjis are potato curry, moong dal curry and a green chilli subji.. pickle is made of gooseberry. Poori is fried in palm oil, yet is tasty.. good service, very attentive staff.. The shop operates from 3:30 to 8:30… but was sold out by 7:45 last time we visited, so plan accordingly.

Really a good Homely food. It was really delicious and low price hotel. Poori set ( 3 pooris,1 pappad, mango pickle, onion salad, green gram curry, dal curry and potato curry) costs 60 rupees, Masala chai 15 rupees. These are the two things available in this hotel nothing else. Near Parthas textile shop ( very close) behind that fly over. If you are coming by train take the second exit at the back of the railway station TVM Central and walk closely towards your left hand side you can see an old power house station etc on the way. This hotel is inside a corridor road so observe closely on left hand side shops one by one. If you pass that junction then you missed it.

This is a very small shop serving only poori & masala tea. The shop is inside a very narrow road and difficult to easily find if you miss the small board. There is no parking except for general road side paid parking in an adjacent area. There is usually a waiting time due to the small size of shop and the usual rush. Parcel availability is quicker so it is advised to take a parcel. The poori taste is normal. The associated curries (a dal, a sweet curry, a masala and pickle) are not very spicy. The combination gives a unique taste and is liked by many . It is worth a try at least once to taste the cuisine. The shop is generally open on all days from 3.30pm to around late evening.

A very small place. But the food is very good. Puri, papad and those curry combinations make it very different from anything we get in nearby places. Masala tea (elaichi) is avarage though

Good service and behaviour. Food was good, but not extraordinary. Good choice for vegan people. There was good quality in the items served. The service person was also friendly and offered the right services without any wait or hassle. There was no wait as we went around the 4'o clock time. Items were displayed in the menu board along with the prices. Chai was great. Masala tea is what is offered there. Overall a nice environment for a good vegan meal.

One of the oldest and best in Trivandrum. Have been coming here since my childhood with grandparents and the taste remains the same. The rush in recent years have increased due to its social media stardom but the taste and the service remains the same. Lot of memories around this area. Must visit place.

This is one of the best restaurants in trivandrum. They have only one menu and it’s a unique item. Usually crowded during evenings. It’s a small place too, if you plan to dine in, plan accordingly. They serve Jain food too ( tell them you don’t want onion)

It was just superb. I have been wanting to try this place out for a long time. And when I finally did it was worth the wait. The food is very tasty like it's perfect with very affordable price. The seating arrangements are very few so had to wait some time. Lot of people just take parcels. So if you can wait the time it's worth the wait. Must try spot. I have been thinking about the food there even 2 days after having food, For sure will go again

As on date its been in Trivandrum for approx 58 years. Started by the current owners father. There is only 1 food served here and that is poori with a variety of curry, pappad, pickle and sliced onions in a true North Indian cooking style and taste. Finding this restaurant is a task as it ls inside a small lane. The tea served here is also with Ginger and other masala. The seating capacity is limited and is normally packed on weekends.Initially the cooks were from north India. Eventhough the cooks are from the locality, the taste has remained the same due to knowledge of the current owner. MUST VISIT

The Iconic Poori Destination in Trivandrum. Must try. They only have one dish and it's worth it. They have Poori meal which is ₹60 per plate.

A famous restaurant which serve poori and 3 variety of curry, pickle and savala. This is a Gujarati style food and only have poori dish. Now have only parcel due to covid restrictions.

One of the oldest hotel in Trivandrum city. Only one dish is served here. The famous Poori set. The poori set is served with a variety of curries. One cup of Dal curry which tastes like sour and a potato curry which tastes a little spicy and green Moong Dal curry which tastes like sweet. Along with these you will also get pappad, pickle and grated onions. You can also order tea which is a special one. The rates are very affordable to anyone. The only problem is that sometimes you will have to wait sometimes for a table. I think they can accommodate only around 20 people at a time. You can also prefer take away. Car parking will be difficult. Location : Near Parthas, Eastfort Timing : 3.30pm - 8.00pm
