First time visiting this place after living in Trivandrum for past 28 years. It’s a nice place to chill. Best time will be to visit will be in the evenings. There is a bamboo staircase which helps to reach the topmost part of this rock. There are few benches where you can sit and relax , and enjoy the view.

It's a beautiful place to visit there's not so much facilities available for the visitors you can climb the rock and the view is so beautiful.its 9 km away From Kazhakuttom well connected place. And please wear proper shoes or chappals which have grips as they have closed the entry from front and they provide an alternative way which is slippery at times so do watch your steps way up . Apart from that it's a good place to visit. Early morning or in the evening is the preferred time to enjoy the view

It's a very good place to visit for relaxing., Unfortunately i visited at the wrong time I reached there by 2:30 it was so hot. If you visit after 5 it will be better. And I didn't find any plastics waste and all. Thats good thing ❀️. Overall a good place to visit in this area.

Reach around 5 pm here. Stay till 6. The view is mesmerizing. Can get a distant view of sea line, greenfield stadium, technopark & the 'deepam' temple(work not finished) as well. Mostly everyone comes here for watching sunset. The bamboo walkway will be fun for kids. Lots of greenery. Toilet facilities are neat. In summary, a great place!

This temple is 1800 old and it was created by Buddhist monk in 8th century. The language named, vattezhuthu, an ancient Malayalam script, inscription on the pillar is what’s left of the history that this rock once held. Must visit place for all , except Aged people , as there are 13 steps engraver on the rocks which are very steep. So take care of kids if you are taking along .

One of the best places to visit in trivandrum. It is not far from the city, around 15 km from medical college. A peaceful place covered in ancient rocks. There is a rock temple also. And the park that surround it is an amazing choice for a couple of beautiful pics and a soothing sunset view of the city. Has small huts and a pathway to top made in bamboo. Kids park is also there.

A subtle, calm place inside this city. Peaceful atmosphere at the tippity top. The place is the top of a large rock, so should be careful not to slip, even though it wont. There is a step way made from bamboo to rech the top. Cool wind and calm vibes blows your mind off.

Madavoorpara is aΒ major tourist attraction at Kaattayikonam in Thiruvananthapuram. Famous for the rock-cut cave temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Carved out on its steep slope are steps that lead to this temple. The temple is nothing more than a cave carved out on the surface of a bare rock, which has now been protected with iron doors. Madovoorpara rock cut was owned by the Chenkottukonam Ashram before being taken over by the State Archaeology Department in 1960 as a protected monument.

Can plan for a morning or evening trip. Visit the temple and can spend good time in madavoorpara rock view. Children's park, bamboo bridge and beautiful views A must visit place. History sleeps in the rock-cut Shiva Temple here that dates back to the 9th Century CE. The rock shrine currently under the protection of the Archaeology Department. It's not that easy to reach top so visitors need to be careful. It is a lesser-known destination in the Trivandrum and one of the hang out places for the natives.

Good place to spend an evening to see the sun set over the distant sea.. (see pic).. have a mini children's play area and restaurant on top. There are two points to enter the place. This spot I am reviewing (near the temple entrance) requires a small climb up the rocky slope.

Cool place to spend your evenings. It's basically a rock-top with a good view. A small park is there for the kids. Sunset has it's own beauty. Family friendly location to give it a try.

After looking for reviews I first was confused but after visiting got it also the timing mentioned are not accurate it is not open 24hours when I went then it was close, like 4pm it has timings later after 5pm it got opened I don't know exact timing but this is an assumption since I went 5pm later on after visiting madavoorpara. People just added and mixed of pictures as well. It is just 50-100m from the madavoorpara back gate entry (assuming red arch gate as front gate). πŸ™

We reached there around 12.30 noon... Rock Temple was closed... But park was accessible via the other way. Place full of huge rocks. U can have a view of the whole place from the top. Bamboo bridge the main attraction was not open. Place of wind and breeze even in the hot noon. Kids park is also there. Never confuse this place with mudavoorpara, its not the same. Best time to visit is morning. ❀

A lesser-known pristine destination situated 300 feet above sea level, Madavoorpara is a favourite with pilgrims and tourists. The place is noted for its cave temple and Bamboo Bridge. History sleeps in the rock-cut Shiva Temple here that dates back to the 9th Century CE. The rock shrine currently under the protection of the Department of Archaeology has a pillar with inscriptions in Vattezhuthu, the ancient Malayalam script. The temple has attracted the attention of researchers and culture enthusiasts with its archaeological and historical significance.

U can reach there from kattaykonam melevila or madavur para junction ... Worth it calm place

  • 4/5 Abhijith A. 1 year ago on Google
This is such a hidden gem on the outskirts of the city. Beautiful place to see the sunset. You will have to climb up the rocks to see the sunset. If traveling with elderly people I would suggest to take an alternative route which is not shown on Google map which will lead directly to the top of the Rock hill at the back. (It's a route where you have to take right turn from Chenkotukonam junction, I'm not sure about the exact turna, so better ask the locals over there)

A unique historical spot in the Thiruvanandapuram city. Alarming work of art and sculpture of more than 10centuries back. God Siva is worshipped here.
