Said to be built by Sree Moolam Thirunal.. This magnificent palace is one of the last architectural vestiges of the colonial era... The palace and its sprawling grounds are now used as venues for many cultural meets and programmes....

A very calm and quiet area where u can spend time. The garden area is well maintained and have varieties of trees. The palace is quite simple comparatively. The Stage area is too good and have a great architecture. You can take a walk through and enjoy the surrounding. There is no entry fees .

Best hangout spot in Trivandrum. The landscaping, lighting, stone benches, pavements and the trees provide a cool and calm environment amidst the busy streets of TVM. Best for morning and evening walks. Early morning you can feel the bracing air and watch the city slowly waking up and gaining momentum.

One of my favourite place ❤️ since childhood when I come from abroad for vacation & esp for every trivian , am sure they will have countless memories. A stroll inside with friends and family is always refreshing. Historical place indeed. Stress free place for all age groups. The best timing to go in here is early morning to do ur physical activities and evening to spend time with your family , frenz & loved ones ! Various cultural programmes and other celebrations are conducted here . This is the greatest platform to meet different people & culture .The happening place in the city where dance, music, art and food festivals are conducted. Visited during Xmas time to see the Xmas Lights and it was a really great experience. Vibrant atmosphere with a lot of people coming to enjoy . The place & palace was well lit and decorated. Really enjoyed the light and flowers shows .The performance of the band at the amphitheatre was also top notch. Best time to visit this wonderful place is Christmas to New year , never miss this ! The whole place filled with light decorations with variety of activities as well such as a cafe, live music, trade fair, horse riding, pet show & different food options. The best place in Trivandrum city to experience the festivities vibe. Every time there will be some new performance or show going live. Parking is there but not that much for a huge crowd. That’s the difficult part of it ! Overall a fun & beautiful experience at Kanakakunnu Palace with family 🩷👌

Calm and quiet place to spend an evening. It's place of solitude, contemplation and peace. Its located near the Napier Museum & boasts of a beautiful digital garden. The palace itself was constructed by the Travancore Royal Family & was used by them to entertain their guests. It is now used as a popular venue to hold cultural performances.

We went there for the purpose of planting different varieties of mostly epiphytic orchids on large trees. The place was blessed with many different ecologically important large trees and flowering plants. Many people visit here attracted by the calm and pleasent atmosphere. In the middle, situate the palace, where you need a pass to enter, probably can enter by taking tickets. Since it has wide area, people often came here for jogging.

Kanakakunn Palace through seasons of the year has different shades to it and feeling of its own. It has answers to all your problems one walk at a time. And through time it takes on different shades of colours adorning beauty, culture & sheer magic. Spend time and experience the magic, sharing few images from my experience ✨️ at this magnificent place.

The Palace building is still closed for renovation. Cam walk around the courtyard and grounds for a bit of shade. Nothing to see just a spot to hangout and enjoy the shade for a while.

One of the best arrangement by Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. It's an eye pleasing and heartwarming experience.❤️ Its a must visit place if you love flowers and plants. Even you can buy flower plants, herbs, medicinal plants, kitchen plants as well as their seeds. They have variety of stalls too.

Currently, the public entrance to kanakunnu Palace property is restricted. However, the adjacent park remains open to the public and doesn't require any entrance fees. Prior to your visit, it's advisable to park your vehicle elsewhere since parking space is available in the municipality compound close to the palace. The ambiance during both evenings and mornings is truly enchanting. As you explore, you'll have the opportunity to catch glimpses of the palace from the outside. The park features captivating walkways that offer a delightful experience. Notably, the renowned Nishagandhi Auditorium is located within this park. If you're seeking a serene spot to unwind or simply enjoy a peaceful moment within the bustling city of Trivandrum, this location presents the perfect choice. During our visit in August, some ongoing renovation work was observed. Furthermore, the palace often serves as a host for a variety of programs, adding to its cultural significance.

Kanakakkunnu Palace is a true gem for those seeking tranquility in nature. I often find solace sitting on the bench near the entrance, surrounded by the beauty of lush trees and the melodies of birdsong. The exterior of the palace, even without venturing inside, exudes a majestic charm and historical aura. The carefully maintained surroundings add to the serene atmosphere, creating a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply appreciate the beauty of a well-preserved palace, Kanakakkunnu Palace offers a unique and peaceful experience. It's a must-visit spot for those looking to connect with nature and soak in the rich heritage of the place.

This place is spectacular. A public space where you can come and relax, go for a walk or even host an event. This place is beautiful with the amazing architecture and design. It's astonishing to believe that all the aesthetics still retain in this wonderful palace. I highly recommend people go visit this place at least once to get a good grasp of what a nice public place provided by the Kerala government feels like. I think outside Kerala if you want to find anything that closely resembles this place then you will definitely have to go to Chandigarh.

Kanakakkunnu Palace is situated in Thiruvananthapuram near the Napier museum, India. It is India's first digital garden. Often exhibitions and trade fairs etc are conducted here. Nisha Gandhi auditorium is situated inside the premises. There is space for parking inside, but security/police does not always let people park cars inside. There’s little to no parking space outside, and parking on the curb side may invite fines.

Kanakakkunnu Palace in Trivandrum is a cultural gem. The regal architecture, lush gardens, and historical significance create a captivating ambiance. It serves as a venue for various events, adding vibrancy to the city. However, maintenance could enhance the visitor experience. The panoramic views of the city and well-preserved heritage make it a must-visit for those seeking a blend of history and beauty.

Great place to chill with both family and friends. People will look at you, judge you but no one will interfere with your privacy. That's the only thing I liked about it. It's peaceful there. And never buy anything from inside, it's too costly. But some snacks and go.

I visited here many times this year, mostly at the time that this place is hosting programs. Today they hosted a flower show(vasantholsavam) with a ticket charge of 100/- for adults and 50/- for kids. This place is beautifully decorated with lights and flowers and also provided two stage space for kids to show their talents.

Kanakakunnu Palace is a sprawling palace complex located in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. It was built in the early 19th century by Maharaja Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma, one of the most revered rulers of Travancore. The palace is known for its unique architecture, its beautiful gardens, and its role in Kerala's history. The palace complex is spread over 63 acres and includes a number of buildings, including the main palace, the guest house, the stables, and the gardens. The main palace is a three-storey building with a sloping roof and wooden pillars. The exterior of the palace is painted white and yellow, and it is decorated with intricate carvings. The interior of the palace is just as beautiful, with marble floors, stained glass windows, and lavishly decorated rooms. The palace grounds are home to a number of beautiful gardens. The main garden is known for its rose bushes and its fountain. There is also a Japanese garden, a Mughal garden, and a Kerala garden. The gardens are a popular spot for locals and tourists alike to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Really enjoyed the light show and flowers show. The performance of the band at the amphitheatre was also top notch. Overall a fun experience at Kanakakunnu Palace yesterday. Just 2 critiques, that it would have been extremely helpful to have signs guiding you to various venues because we landed up roaming around unnecessarily looking for a way out (they had blocked alot of the standard exits) And another would be signs telling you what flowers are on display. Seemed like a missed opportunity in primarily a flower show. A layman wouldn't be able to guess.

It's a great place to relax with friends or family. Apt time to visit either morning or evening. But in evenings after a point there will be lot's of mosquitoes. Entry is free however, not allowed to enter inside the palace. There are enough seats to sit and relax. Greenery is one of the highlights of this historical place. Can visit place just to spent sometime. Various exhibitions or cultural programs happens here often. Photography is allowed. Parking is a concern to the visitors. Also, there is no food stalls inside the compound. Except Mondays other all days are open to visitors.

This is a nice place to have some good time. The place is filled with good architecture. We have a lot of space to sit and relax here. There is a big flag in this place which is awesome to see that flying in the wind. The grass here adds not only just green but also a good feel to the total view. I come here whenever I want to sit alone and have some good time alone

Located in the central city, this palace is owned and managed by Kerala Government. Perched atop a small hill and bordered by beautiful gardens, this palace was built by Sree Moolam Thirunal during the reign of Travancore dynasty. As you enter the palace, you would see large chandeliers hung on the ceiling and royal furniture adorning the interiors of the palace. If you are keen to see the lifestyle of the then kings and impeccable Kerala-style architecture, a visit here is a must. There are two main auditoriums namely Sooryakanthi and Nishagandhi open-air auditorium (where the famous Nishagandhi Dance Festival is organised by the tourism department). Many events are held at these auditoriums, so make sure you check the event calendar with the Palace officials or the tourism department before planning a visit.

The weather was beautiful and it felt so relaxing to lay in the grass and see the scenery it is all a good place to walk, exercise and jog and the best part is that you can do all of this for free. This also helps to connect with nature in some way

Went for the expo celebrating one year of government. The stalls were good. The fire and rescue services department stall and Kerala police vehicles were quite memorable. KSSM is also organising a fundraiser. There is a food court at the end serving tasty food. There are enough items on sale for those who want to buy items like saris, dhotis, wooden articles, honey, homemade pickles etc.

The only hangout place for the folks in the city of Trivandrum other than the museum. The happening place in the city where dance, music, art and food festivals are conducted. Nishagandhi auditorium is inside the compound. You can enter freely inside as there's no entry fee for most of the concerts and events. A stroll inside with friends and family is refreshing. Kids will love this place since they have enough place to run around. Parking is there but not that much for a huge crowd. The place is well maintained but could have put a bit more effort to make it even beautiful.

Its a best place for families for refreshment, friends for chilling out, couples for their private time, for jogging, for walking and even for sit alone and relax. A place with greenery at the heart of the city. Its a must visit place at Trivandrum for the visitors because it has many other pivot places nearby like museum, zoo, planetarium, legislative assembly etc.

The place well known in tvm. For me its a personal fav for evening walk and exercise. If you are planning for a walk or exercise this is the best. Also there will be having programs in most days at the nearby hall nishagandhi. I really love the ambience and all. We can see a lot of people's here from all over kerala.

The Kanakakunnu palace located at the heart of Thiruvananthapuram city plays a welcoming host to a multitude of cultural events, seminars and programmes. Its proximity to a number of important tourist sites, including the Napier Museum and Trivandrum Zoo, has made it an important part of the city. Once host to many an important gala, under the reign of the erstwhile ruler of Travancore Sree Moolam Thirunal, it is an integral part of city’s festivities and heritage to this day. It also a royal monument. It is protected by government of Kerala.

It is said to be built by Sree Moolam Thirunal. In the past It has been later used by the Travancore royal family to entertain its guests and serve non-vegetarian food as the royal family was vegetarian. Today the palace and its sprawling grounds are the venue for many cultural meetings and programmes.

Kanakakkunnu Palace is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. It is a beautiful palace built in the traditional Kerala style, and it is surrounded by lush green gardens. The palace is now a museum, and it houses a collection of artifacts from the royal family of Travancore. I recently visited Kanakakkunnu Palace, and I was very impressed. The palace is well-maintained, and the gardens are beautiful. The museum is also very informative, and it provides a fascinating insight into the history of the royal family of Travancore.

Basically the public entrance to this property is restricted now. But the park is near to this palace is open for public without any fees. Please park your vehicle somewhere else before coming to this place(Some space is available in municipality compound near to this place). The ambiance is really nice on evenings and mornings. You can the the palace from outside. The walkways in the park is really awesome and the famous nishaganthi auditorium is inside the park. If you are planning to take some rest or peaceful sitting space in trivandrum city, this place is the perfect option
