Upon arrival, our room code received through text to access the building didn't work so we had to call to get a different code. Our first impression of the room was that it was cold. The window in our room had a slight draft even when "closed". It is an old building and windows are old too. My partner and I called the owner & told him about the window. We asked about heating as there was none and we were only informed of extra heating costs upon arrival when we saw a framed extra costs list in the room. We were surprised to discover this new information about heating costs as it was not stipulated in the booking description that the heating costs extra and you can hire a heater per day. When we told the owner this, the owner responded by saying he could send maintenance to fix the window, heating costs extra and it's only $5 p day which is nothing compared to the cost of heating bills and "if you don't like it you are more then welcome to leave. ". We were not warmly welcomed by this phone call to the owner. The guest does not need to be made aware of the owner's overall utility bill as a basis for their extra costs. It was clear by his rude, unaccommodating and dismissive response that he did not care about us as his guests. At the start of the week one of the toilets on the ground floor became 'out of order', that toilet wasn't fixed during our entire week of stay and the hallway smelt awful the whole week. One of the toilets upstairs didn't flush properly either. If people walking in the hallway on the old wooden floors didn't wake us up then we were woken up by staff vacuuming at 8:30am in the morning. We had a double bed and it was incredibly uncomfortable as you could feel the springs of the bed. The bed had insufficient linen to keep ourselves warm - linen costs extra. We basically were cold the whole time because we didn't anticipate such a shortage of human basics and opted not to pay for what should be standards at any accommodation, especially in a cold city in the middle of winter. Horrendous!

Ray is the most amazing generous human being I have met. And, his cooking is simply delicious. Really, Ray makes this place an amazing experience. He keeps it clean, under control, and he makes sure everyone is looked after. It’s totally different than other hotels or hostels in Melbourne. The rooms are simple but clean. A cabinet for storing clothes would be nice. The kitchen is open for cooking and there’s a nice outdoor area for sitting. There are enough toilets and showers that you’re not waiting for the bathroom. Especially as this place is lower priced than the other really expensive options in Melbourne… I recommend it! It’s also close to the MCG if you’re going to see a game.

When I had an emergency situation,I took refuge here. They quickly arranged a hotel room for me and ensured my safety.That’s why security is very good and I was able to pay quickly and they responded quickly. Hotel staffs always gave me heartfelt service and excellent customer service!! They always responded quickly and politely!! If you stayed here,you could be wonderful experiences! Actually each room is very clean. Jet does really good housekeeping 😃 You can have a dinner for $5. You can eat enough special meal which is different types of foods.Chef Patrick always cooked meals while understanding the religion of each country. I usually ate his special dishes with other guests!! I recommend you to try these special dinner. Once you eat it, you will be addicted. Actually I would stay again if I had some trouble.

Rooms are basic but they are clean and the place is in a great location. The atmosphere is very welcoming thanks to the manager Ray, who makes you feel very at home and cooks a great meal for only $5. You can't beat this place for value.

First of all the room is so big including study table cupboard and more importantly a big double bed.I like all the facilities. But more importantly the staff is so so good particularly Patrick. He's such a nice and humble person. Loved every second I spent with him. Overall, the property is very close to the city centre and the rooms are very clean. You've access to the kitchen which is undoubtedly clean and neat. Just loved it.

I spend 2 weeks and I didn’t feel that I am away from home. The staff are so helpful & polite. You have an option of cooking, washing and the most important they are providing food as per your choice. Jet and Paul been awesome. Really helpful and chilled guys. help me to get my good places around and made my stay amazing comfortable... High recommended, this place is wrathful due to Jet & Paul ;-)

I was tired from staying at shared rooms in hostels, and came across this place! Convenient access to the city, building is always sparkly clean, and Patrick is always so friendly and checks in with me if I am hungry (thank you! :)) Very safe place to stay. Roads can be noisy but you can just use earplugs, room can get cold but you can rent a heater for only $5 a night. Would recommend for any solo travellers.

Me and my girlfriend were very happy that we have stayed here. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are tidy, clean and cosy. We had dinner there and it was really tasty. We would definitely stay here again.

We had a really good experience. Definitely one of my favourite hostels that I have ever stayed. Kind and friendly staff, cozy and clean rooms and good location! We highly recommend this place! We stayed for tho nights and everyone was super nice and helpful with us. Patrick cooks breakfast and dinner for just $5, and the food he cooks is amazing!!! You must try it if you stay there. The cleaning is also perfect, everything smells really good and is perfectly clean, and that is also thanks to Kat. She made sure we felt at home. There are also free snaks, coffee and tea. We have no complaints, we are very happy with our choice! 🙏😊

Very good location as it is near the bus and metro station. The staff is very friendly and super helpful. Our room was nice and clean, including the shared kitchen and bathrooms. You can get quite a hefty meal there for only 5$. We enjoyed our stay there. Recommended!

Located near the train, bus, and tram station. Perfect and strategic location for you who wants to go to the city. I stayed there a week and the price was very reasonable. I can say it was affordable because I got a private room with my partner. The room was clean and the staffs are very friendly and helpful. They gave customer free stuff ( coffee, foods, cake, etc). Also you can get delicious dinner for only $5 per person. On my last night there, I ordered their dinner, it was huge dinner and I loved it.

I stayed here for one night, my last night before my long flight back home and it couldn’t have been better. The staff is amazing, such a good service (the breakfast I got, just delicious), so friendly and they really want to make your stay as easy and comfortable as they can. 151 huddle Street homestay was brilliant, they took me in on short notice and provided me with a safe warm lockable private room with access to showers and toilets and cheap meals at a fair price, if your struggling to find somewhere you should try this place out prices start at $80 per night with a 10am checkout. Both Frank and Patrick were very polite and great hosts. If I'm ever stuck again and in need of a place to stay I will definitely go back here again. Honestly if you are in need and can afford the cheap prices you should check them out. I appreciate the hospitality and services which were all above board, clean and discreet. Thanks again Frank and Patrick I really appreciate everything guys. 10 out of 10 👍💯

A great vibe with a super friendly and helpful staff. Sort of in between an airbnb and a hostel, it was a chill atmosphere and Patrick the receptionist was super cool and helpful. Highly recommend!!

Its a gem, especially for the price. Its very cool since the food that they provide comes with very nice deals( sometimes even for free). It has a very cosy hostel feeling. The staff is very nice, spoke a lot with patrick which seems to work really hard and i saw the rest working hard aswell by cleaning the place non stop.

Value for money. Staff always friendly available to help. Feels safe knowing there's always someone keeping things nice. Quiet. No drama. Clean and tidy. The toilet paper ran out once but staff refilled when we asked, of course they aren't psychic to know when it runs out. It's not the Ritz but we didn't pay for the Ritz. All in all, a pleasant place to stay and right next to train station.

Very nice, bright rooms. Kitchen with everything you need! In a very nice neighborhood, if you like it a bit out of the crowded center.... the way through the Fitzroy Garden is a nice walk! But the best by far is the housekeeper Ray, he is very welcoming &helpful, he does everything to make your stay pleasant. It's very rare to meet a person so generous and warm hearted like him! It was great there. Ray was very sweet and extremely helpful! We stayed in hostel in the center before, but here it was way nicer. Felt like family.

I’d come here again. It’s a lovely little stay and the meals are just amazing! The meals are cooked fresh for you and also the outside area is little but very comfy. It’s true it was a bit loud, also if you close the window it’s still a bit noisy but maybe that’s just my room. Although had a good sleep so would come again!

Best hostel experience in Melbourne, The kitchen is really clean everyday and there is everything there, the room was great too, everyone is nice. But especially Ray who works there, the nicest guy I ever met, he does everything, he cooks food for everyone every night for only 5$, always smiling, he even helped me to find a job in a farm by bringing me to the place and ask for me. Thank you for everything :)
