Great staff. Shout out to Jamie who was super friendly and helpful. Rooms comfortable and warm. Great hot water and heating. Recommend stay if you want fuss free accommodation

If i have to sum it in one word: SHAMEFUL. From the moment of the reservation to the check out: - after the booking we tried to contact the hotel multiple times (for over a month) both over the phone and via email and never received an answer - upon arrival the room was dirty to the point we had to ask to be cleaned again - it was the week before the start of the season but, we understand you still have tradies, the common room was full of tables, chairs, boxes of glassware and so on - multiple times tradies and staff members tried to enter our room as the were unaware there were guests in it - the pool was being filled - continental breakfast, let's talk about that! the cheapest sliced bread on the market with only one type of jam, butter and honey; 2 juices and cereals that were in the dispensers since the summer season, so stuck we had to open the top to take them out - you advertise yourself as family friendly, yet on thursday your pub played extremely loud music until 2 am (the floor and windows were vibrating) while in all the common areas you have signage to request quiet after 11 pm - while i was in the common area one of the owners discussed private payment arrangements with one of the employee who was sitting right next to me and babysitting their son at the time - at the time of check out we were giving all these feedbacks to the receptionist and the owner walked into the reception without even acknowledging us. - only positive, Georgia, one of the staff members. She was really lovely and genuine in all our interactions We didn't feel welcome at all, if anything we felt like we were invisible or undesired. We understand that the beginning of the season is a very stressful moment as we both worked in hospitality for several years, but if you cannot provide any service to a bare minimum standard, don't offer a room for almost $300 per night. Unfortunately we will not return, nor recommend this place

Very old and rundown place. Doesn’t look like anything has been renovated or changed over since the 60s. Bar and reception area smells very strongly of urine, and then the staircase and pool level smells horrifically strongly of all of the nasty foot smells coming from the drying room - I know drying rooms never smell good, but this was overwhelming (and, the drying room didn’t seem to do any actual drying - better to just leave things in your room). Rooms were ok, relatively comfortable (though VERY squeaky beds), bathroom had mould and needed a much better clean, fridge needed a clean, and no tea/coffee/water or toiletries. Location was good, that was a positive.

If you want to stay at a place that provides a room with mould, dirty cutlery, the soggiest pizza you’ll ever eat in a restaurant and a bar so noisy that you won’t get to sleep until 2am, then this is the place for you!! Definitely do not recommend if you have children, or just prefer going to sleep at a reasonable hour. Property itself is extremely outdated and in dire need of TLC. Do yourself a favour - spend the few extra dollars and stay somewhere else.

Noisey in evening and at night. Like a nightclub with underage drinkers. And yes, that urine smell is still abundant. Cameras everywhere except for drying room so don’t leave items you value in there. Highly recommended if you want to party all night without regard for other guests.

Alpine Retreat Mt Buller: If you value hygiene and service, then this is not the place for you! Filthy mouldy accommodation. Kitchen in a disgusting state. Canceled our dinner bookings as I don’t want to eat food prepared there. Rude staff that doesn’t know what’s going on. After complaining, the breakfast station was prepared one out of the three mornings. Urn not switched on for breakfast coffee. Found a dirty coffee mug presented amongst the clean mugs in the presentation area - had dead moths stuck to the insides. Kettle in the communal kitchen out of order. Laundry and other rooms are a mess. Tv keeps switching off, no hope asking the staff to sort it. I had to take my own rubbish out while staff stood watching on. One gentleman offered to help. Drunk staff noisy till 3am in the morning. Broken glass around the building from the bar area. No one EVER at reception or answering the contact numbers provided. The lady that I spoke to on the first day, couldn’t unferstand or carry a conversation in English. Very frustrating after paying an “arm and a leg” for this. They have an overwhelming aroma deodorants in the room to try and hide the mouldy smell. Pool table missing balls. We are the only booking left this week as the rest left after seeing what’s going on. The staff are unable to service ONE booking. I have noticed similar issues in previous reviews and it is my duty of care to stand by this review. These are issues that can easily be rectified by staff retraining and should be viewed as positive criticism to improve service. Many maintenance issues for the owner if his focus is not just about $$$ Keep ignoring concerns and bad management will have to bear continuous bad reviews from future customers and a drop in future profits.

Excellent accommodation! Great location and the hot pool was amazing to come back to at the end of a day on the slopes. The food at the pub was far too salty and the service was not very friendly from the staff running tables.

A very bad experience last year we drove for a few hours to reach there then we were told our booking was not accepted, there was no room for us. The staff offered no help at all, kids were extremely disappointed. Will never visit again.
