Great Indonesian restaurant. I love the salted egg fries. There are a couple of vegetarian dishes but the menu is primarily meat dishes. Service is good, including the robot who might bring you food. I like to the mi goreng with salted egg. The desserts are also super delicious. They have Indonesian pancake there.

Located in Franklin St, Melbourne, Yoi is a nice restaurant and a good place for taking the kids. The dishes we ordered were the Mie Goreng Salted Egg Chicken, Squid Ink Salted Egg Noodles and Yoi Chilli Crab Noodle. For drinks we got Ice Lychee Tea and an Iced Tea. The smells of each dish was fantastic. We couldn’t wait to start eating! Great presentation. Delicious comfort food. At around $20-$22, the size and quality of each plate is good value. For dessert we shared the Sweet Martabak with Nutella and cheese. Smelled so good. A very different texture and taste. Enjoyable. Would be great with a coffee! Friendly staff. Some of the dishes were delivered to the table by a robot. That was fun to see. The dishes came out pretty quickly. Good presentation. Fantastic flavours. Loved all the dishes. Tasty and affordable. We love visiting this place. We thank Yoi for having us. We experienced Yoi as guests, and all of our opinions are genuine and are based on our experience at the time of our visit.

Busy at 8pm on a weeknight is always a good sign and with lots of people also ordering takeaway too Yoi had plenty of buzz about it… a great sign of things to come. The Indonesian Fusion menu here is one that I have keen to try for some time now. We had different menu items in mind when we originally thought of coming here but were swayed by the limited time menu items which for me were standout. Being truffle season they had a truffle mie goreng on the menu complete with grated red hill truffle. This was a total decadent truffle experience and I do think you should give it a good while it lasts. We also had a tasty Nasi Pecel YOI with is golden crispy fried chicken and chicken satay skewers with a fiery hot sauce accompanying. For dessert we tried the pandas Martabak pancake stuffed with a selection of our favourite things… we added cheese as well for a salty hit (Kellie wasn’t convinced on this but I really enjoyed). Loved this dessert and took home the leftovers for another night… it’s big! All up a really yummy wintery truffley experience. Would be keen to try beef curries on our next visit.

This place has the best teriyaki chicken ever! The food's halal and loved the desert as well. There was a long queue but totally worth it! But some of the dishes were out of stock .. didn't know if it was just because Christmas time or it's always like this.

It was great atmosphere, good service and plenty choices of food. But my food was so salty and I left almost half of it because I drank too much water. The dessert was quite big. It took a while for my friend and I to finish up. The fried rice is good. I would come back again but would request to reduce the salt and seasoning next time.

So happy that YOI open for dine in. Have always ordered food here for delivery but dining in is another story, it’s so worth it. On the day we had: - Satay Taichan - grilled chicken skewers with sambal - Nasi Jinggo - Balinese street food wrapped in banana leaves - Mie goreng salted egg chicken - Squid ink salted egg noodles - Pandan Martabak King (new item) - Avocado coffee - Lychee iced tea The skewers were nice and juicy and tasted so good along with the sambal (it has a nice spice to it). The squid ink noodles was the highlight, looks intimidating at first but was so flavourful. If you love salted egg, definitely order this! And that avocado coffee, definitely give that a try too, so good, the creaminess from the avocado sweeten the bitterness of the coffee, it was a match in heaven. For dessert, we had the Pandan Martabak King which basically is a martabak with 3 fillings of your choice. We did chocolate cheese and crushed peanuts. Great Indonesian restaurant, friendly service and did I mention they have a robot server, how cool is that?! Highly recommended YOI to everyone.

This was the first time at YOI today and it was AMAZING my brother and I indulged ourselves in their delicate salted egg fries as well as their a spicy and fully packed flavour combo of the Nasi Jinggo as well as their homemade secret sales egg noodles which was definitely the star of the show! will definitely be returning, can't wait to go again !

YOI serves a mixture of creative and traditional Indonesian meals and desserts. Their salted egg dishes are popular but a little on the pricey side. Service was a little slow both times we visited even though it wasn’t busy but staff were friendly. They also have a cute robot waiter, which was a key reason why we went to eat here.

I recently had a lovely lunch at Yoi Indonesian Fusion located in the CBD. With an extensive menu it was hard to decide what to order. We opted for the nasi bungkus, squid ink salted egg noodles and tahu kriuk crispy (fried tofu) to share. For drinks we had the Kopi gula aren and Lotus Biscoff coffee. This was my first time trying nasi bungkus which features rice wrapped in a banana leaf with salted squid rings cooked with red and green chillies, rendang and silver beet. I don’t have a high spice tolerance and found this provided plenty of heat for me. However if you prefer something spicier then you should opt for the nasi jinggo. Packed with plenty of flavour and traditionally eaten by locals with their hands, this is a great way to get a taste of Indonesian style street food. A visit to Yoi wouldn’t be complete without trying some of their famous salted egg noodles. We opted for the squid ink salted egg noodles served with fried calamari. The salted egg flavour worked beautifully with the calamari, it was so good. The crispy tofu was nice and crisp on the outside and soft and smooth on the inside. Whilst the drinks we ordered were very refreshing. The lotus Biscoff provided a nice touch of sweetness when blended into the coffee. Overall I had a great experience at Yoi. The food was delicious and generously portioned making it perfect for sharing. It’s a great place to enjoy some Indonesian cuisine. Another thing I love about Yoi is the robot waiter that delivers your order to your table. Unfortunately I wasn’t served by the robot this time but I was still able to see it in action and it looked pretty cool. I give Yoi ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5. Thanks very much for having me.

Never tried Indonesian cuisine before. This place is so popular, I can see people queuing almost everyday. I was questioning is it really good till I tried it myself. My favorite it their salted egg sauces, I wish they have it for sale.

The grilled ribs are so tender and tasty and the sambal is spicy, goooodd! the bakso soup is tasty, but the bakso texture less meat, kurang daging! service and atmosphere is good.

Now I haven’t been to Yoi for at least 8 months but I was a regular there in the early days prior to Covid. Prices have crept up and it’s now $23 for the mie goreng with salted egg chicken. $23 is a good price if the meal is perfect, but this time around I felt I’d seriously overpaid. I ate just after 4pm, when it was basically empty, before the dinner rush. The chicken wasn’t particularly hot (not sure if cooked to order?) and there was very minimal salted egg sauce and it wasn’t potent and tasty as I remember it to be. I understand that costs have gone up across the board but surely Indo Mie is still fairly cheap, so at $23 this should be the bomb! It’s a real pity, because this dish was my guilty pleasure when I was up that end of the CBD but todays serving was the worst of my 10+ visits.

YOI recently released a new Bakmie Series! We tried the 🍜 Bakmie Ayam Rica Rica 🍜 Bakmie Wonton and Fishballs Both very delicious. Definitely don't forget to order the BEST homemade martabak in Melbourne!! My favourite Indonesian sweet Pandan Martabak with Kaya & Peanut

Stay away from getting the chicken ayam Mie Goreng!!! The chicken is paper thin and all batter. Came here for dinner but there was such a long queue, so I got a takeway instead - Chicken Ayam Mie Goreng with extra chicken and egg (they forgot the egg!). Do note the extra chicken is 16 dollars and it's all batter.... Avoid being ripped off. Avoid the chicken I am extremely disappointed with this place.

Nice Indonesian food and price worthy. My boyfriend had mi goreng. It was delicious!! I recommended! I had beef ribs(can’t remember the actual name). The meat was tough so I couldn’t really finish it. What a shame. Anyway, I definitely come back and try other dishes!

Food was nice, the Indonesian fusion was a great combination. The spice level of each dish was adequate, and portion sizes were perfect. Price per dish was very fair, overall an inexpensive dinner. A good location for celebrating, or a catch up with friends. Service was mostly done through a robot, ordering through a QR Code. Bathrooms are located outside of the facility, which is mildly inconvenient.

We were invited to Yoi and my first experience of an Indonesian restaurant has set the benchmark very high. I didn’t know what to expect but we were blown away. Whilst a casual style eat this family run restaurant had exemplary service and absolutely delicious food. We were obsessed with the salted egg fries and thoroughly enjoyed the beef rendang, kewtiaw goreng and nasi goreng all of which were extremely flavourful and very generous serves. Exemplary value given the reasonable pricing. Incredibly full we had to try the martabak which is their famous sweet pancake you can stuff with the flavours of your choosing. We went via recommendation of the most popular which is cheese and Nutella. Whilst it sounds like an odd combination it’s delicious and a must try. Thoroughly recommend Original review We were gifted a Yoi delivery which was cool as they are one of few city restaurants that seem to offer suburban delivery options. We got to try their new martabak pizza which is an ingenious concept as each slice is a different yummy flavour. I loved the Nutella and m&ms ones best. We were actually so full from the delicious mains that the dessert was the next days breakfast (and what a fun way to start the day!) and speaking of the mains the teriyaki chicken and beef rendang were super flavoursome and incredibly filling. They certainly impress

Nasi goreng kampung taste slightly better than the surrounding asian restaurant but overpowered by pepper taste. Nasi ayam geprek was crunchy and goes well with the sambal. Would be better if they provide some gravy or soup to go with the rice.

First taste of Indonesian fusion food. I'm thinking my Nasi Bungkus was more traditional, served wrapped in banana leaf with steaming rice, squid rings, red and green chilli, slow cooked beef rendang and silver beet. Really fragrant and a great mix of flavours. It was spicy and built up to be fairly spicy by the end but so good. Squid rings were tender and good bite size pieces. The beef was lovely. And the sauces that seeped into the rice brought the dish together. Well balanced. The beef satay skewers were yummy. The only dish that was a let down was the fried chicken on rice. It was a good sized piece but was very rich with the mayo, a struggle to finish. Staff were excellent and very attentive. It was cool when the robot rolled into the table to serve food. Overall, a great experience.

A really authentic Indonesian restaurant with an awesome selection of classic dishes. We ordered many items including nasi kuning, bakso, nasi beef Rendeng, satay, Tempe goreng and a few more. All the food was excellent and tasted like fantastic! Highly recommend ordering the martabak for a dessert treat, out of this world!

Best Indonesian fusion in Melbourne - a modern take on Indonesian cuisine! Yoi currently has a new Bakmie series plus all your og faves, served to you by their cute robot waiter! We tried: 🍜 Bakmie Gyutan w/ Green Chilli 🍚 Rice Salted Egg Chicken 🥩 Beef Rendang w/ Roti Prata 🍃 Pandan Martabak w/ Lotus & Cheese 🍵 Ice Matcha ☕️ Ice Hojicha We tried one of their new dishes from the bakmie series - handmade egg noodles with ox tongue and green chilli, served with soup to pour over the noodles. This was so yum! The noodles were super chewy and bouncy and their was a little spicy kick to the flavour. The salted egg chicken rice came with plain white rice, fried chicken, drizzled with salted egg sauce. This also had good flavour with nice crunchy fried chicken, however we would have liked a more generous drizzle of salted egg sauce to flavour the rice better. The beef rendang was so flavoursome and tender, paired perfectly with roti - loved this! We tried their famous martabak dessert, which was chewy pandan pancake deliciousness, oozing with sweet biscoff, with a nice salty kick from the cheese - a sweet and savoury delight! Their drinks were also so good, the ice matcha and hojicha both had distinct tastes, loved the roasted flavour of the hojicha!

Delicious Indonesian fusion food in a modern cafe setting. Had the Mie Ayam Warung with beef balls as add-ons. The chicken is perfectly seasoned, while the egg noodles are slightly wide and chewy - just like what’s used for mee pok, my favourite! My friend had the Nasi Pecel Yoi, which has a bit of everything: fried chicken, tempeh mendoan, half a duck egg, pecel salad and onion crackers. Pros - generous portion Cons - spiciness level unable to be modified

If you want a futuristic experience come here and be served by a cheerful robot who delivers your food to your table. The menu has an excellent range of tasty, spicy and authentic Indonesian dishes. Be warned the chilly symbol really does mean spicy. A fun experience with good food.

Great little Indonesian place. The chilli crab noodles was flavourful and didn't feel spicy. The spicy chicken came with rice and was pretty spicy, but manageable. It would be wise to have something to drink with the spicy chicken. Expect to spend around $20 for a meal here.

Love Yoi and their unique indo fusion dishes, ultimate comfort food that’s also delicious! We have a number of favourites items from the menu but anything salted egg definitely are on the leaderboard for us. We always book in advance so we’ve never had to wait for a seat and the food comes out really quickly after ordering and paying from a QR menu on your table. Double points for the robot waiters, totally awesome!

If you love Asian food and Indonesian food particularly, YOI is a must visit place. They do Indonesian fusion really well I‘m usually skeptical about any fusion food, but after trying a few dishes here, I definitely made an exception. We had: 🦑Squid ink pasta with Fried Calamari and Salted Egg Yolk Sauce - delicious combination of flavours. The fried calamari are perfectly cooked too🥰👌🏻 🍚 Nasi Bali (Balinese Rice)- very tasty (and authentically Indonesian) combination of tender marinated chicken, all the mixed vegetables and that crispy chicken skin on top ! 🥟🥜Siomay Indonesian Siu Mai in special peanut sauce - street food treats. I really love their peanut sauce!🤩 🥞💚Pandan Martabak King 👑 pandan flavoured thick pancakes with chocolate sprinkles, shredded cheddar cheese, crushed peanuts and sweet condensed milk - so leaded and so yummy!🤩 This is one of their signature dish and available in Pandan or Original pancake. Yummy drinks we had: 🌹Iced Bandung (Rose cordial with Grass Jelly) 🥑 Coffee Avocado drink We also love the modern interior of this place. Bright and cosy. Service is polite and accomodating. Highly recommended dining place

Absolutely enjoyed this traditional Indonesian cuisine. The drinks were amazing especially the rosewater & coffee selection. The desert which was similar to a crepe and filled with Oreo and Nutella was sensational. The creamy rissoles & sate were def not to be missed. All of the dishes were great. We loved the robot who delivered our food. It was busy with a nice atmosphere & service was good. We highly recommend & will definitely return.

I have always been obsessed with the martabak from Yoi and now they’ve upgraded it and made it into a pizza 😍 with all my favourite toppings! Perfect to bring to all picnics! While you’re there make sure you try the new Mie Goreng sandwich! Need to get another pizza soon!

I love anything salted egg, so I decided to try their salted egg chicken mi goreng. Unfortunately, it was too salty for me and also very dry. The portion size was perfect, but I found it a bit difficult to finish due to the dryness and the lack of a flavour that can cut through the richness of the salted egg and coconut milk. (There wasn’t much variety with the flavours, as I only tasted salted egg and coconut milk.) I’m guessing the rice version would probably be a better option if you want to try their salted egg chicken.

  • 5/5 John Paul Andrew C. 2 years ago on Google
It's my second time eating here. The service and the food is really great. The salted egg chicken is highly recommended. I am not sure if they accept booking, but it is better to book for seats or be there a bit early due to lots of customers dining in. Also, the price for a meal is not that expensive. 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 Will definitely come back and eat again soon.

This limited edition 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐤 𝐏𝐢𝐳𝐳𝐚 is sweet tooth heaven galore! Duno what martabak is? For me, it reminds me of a large thick 𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭 with spongy holey fluffy texture! I ordered: 🍕 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗸 𝗣𝗶𝘇𝘇𝗮 8 slices of yummy sweetness: ⋆ Nutella ⋆ Matcha w/pistachio crumbs ⋆ M&M ⋆ Lotus Biscoff ⋆ Chocolate sprinkles ⋆ Crushed peanuts ⋆ Oreo ⋆ Cheese 🍝 𝗦𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗸 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗴𝗴 𝗡𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀 Squid Ink noodles cooked aglio olio style with fried calamari & spicy salted egg sauce 🍗 𝗔𝘆𝗮𝗺 𝗣𝗲𝗻𝘆𝗲𝘁 (Spicy) Seasoned fried chicken with crunchy bits and special YOI sambal (chilli) Would highly recommend trying the new martabak pizza especially if you're a sweet tooth and love crumpets/pancakes! My fave toppings are chocolate sprinkles, matcha, nutella & biscoff! If there was a thick layer of peanut butter with the crushed peanuts that would be soo yummies hehehe! The salted egg squid ink with calamari is incredible! So flavourful and addictive! The Ayam Penyet was soooo soo delicious 😋 The chicken was marinated & fried perfectly and the special home-made sambal was next level of spicy🔥

Yoi is a lovely little Indonesian restaurant with a nice variety of dishes on their menu. The robot server is such a pleasant novelty. We had the satay, noodles and tofu. Undoubtedly a Great place for Tasty Indonesian food ! I had an excellent Beef Rendang which for me was right in flavour, size and price. Delicious! The beef was thin with juicy marinate. It’s like a beef broth explosion in your mouth. I would also recommend any drink with lichens in it. Sweet but not too sweet. Would definitely come back craving for more!!! .
