👍👍 If I could give 10 stars, I would! Our 1 yr old pug, Beau, needed surgery for a "Luxating Patella" this past April, and our vet referred us to a surgeon in Mississauga... while waiting weeks to hear from this surgeon, I started looking elsewhere and found UCAH. After 1 phone call, UCAH booked us in... People often mention surgery, care, Turpel, staff, Upper, Canada, Animal, UCAH, team, Hospital,

If I could give 10 stars, I would! Our 1 yr old pug, Beau, needed surgery for a "Luxating Patella" this past April, and our vet referred us to a surgeon in Mississauga... while waiting weeks to hear from this surgeon, I started looking elsewhere and found UCAH. After 1 phone call, UCAH booked us in for a consultation & surgery a few days later, and also gave us a rough price estimate and recovery schedule so we knew what to budget and expect (which no other Surgeon would do, unless we paid for a consult with them). The consultation with Dr. Turpel was amazing, and put us as such ease for leaving our baby girl with them for the surgery. He came to the parking lot for the consult, and took his time listening to our concerns and our dog's history, explaining the surgery/possible unexpected things he might run into, and answering all of our questions. With our own vet, we felt rushed, but with Dr. Turpel, we felt so respected and valued, and that he truly cared about our Beau. We trusted him immediately. Everyone we interacted with at UCAH was so personable, kind and empathetic. They sent Beau home with a binder of paperwork, including a letter from Dr. Turpel on how the surgery went, next steps, recovery schedule, and other helpful information for preventing the same issue in her other leg. The icing on the cake was a selfie of Beau and a Technician printed on the front page of the binder... That just showed us how well cared for Beau was during her sleepover at UCAH! They followed up regularly via telephone on how our Beau was doing, answering questions/concerns, and reassuring us that we were doing an amazing job (which meant the world to us). Dr. Turpel also made it very clear that we could contact him directly if something urgent came up with Beau. All in all, Beau is now fully recovered from her surgery, and for the first time in 6 months, running around on 4 legs.. happy and strong! We cannot thank Dr. Turpel, UCAH and their entire team, enough... I am so so thankful this level of expertise and specialization is in Ontario. HIGHLY recommended!

I was referred to Upper Canada Animal Hospital by my veterinarian for a CCL surgery for my little guy, Opie. From my first call to UCAH to discuss our next steps, to the consult with Dr. Turpel & throughout the surgery, I have been amazed by their attention to detail and how they've put me at ease. The updates throughout the day of surgery, the personalized recovery plan they created for me and the follow-up calls to see how he's doing at home have been such a comfort, as I was definitely more nervous about everything than Opie ever was. He's just a few days post-surgery, but I'm very hopeful that we'll get through our recovery with ease thanks to how much they care. Everyone has been attentive and helpful with my questions and we are looking forward to our first check-up in a few days. Thank you!

Amazing care and customer service. Dr. Turpel is a blessing so informative and his surgeon skills are exquisite. The after care and care given by the trained staff was comforting and the informative calling after surgery to let me know that everything is alright was a great support and relief and the calls at home reinforced that I was doing things correctly. I have never experienced any Veterinarian business as great as Upper Canada Animal Hospital. It was worth my long drive ( I live out of town), to have this excellent care for my pet!

This is our second experience with Upper Canada Animal Hospital & Dr. " Jim " Turpel. Both hind legs had ruptured cruciate ligament repairs, known as a TTA. 1st surgery a year & 1/2 ago on R then L this year . Her recovery after 1st was remarkable . Dr. Jim's expertise in this type of surgery is renowned and his reputation stellar. The guidance provided for recovery exceeded our expectations with a very detailed booklet outlining everything . Thank you to the staff who go above and beyond.

I recently switched my vet to Upper Canada. We have an 11 year old Pom who required dental work. Everyone is super friendly and very informative, from the front desk staff, the vet assistants to the vet themselves. At every step we have received thorough information, detailed reports and all our questions have been fully answered. Their follow up care and professionalism is superior. We are very happy to have dealt with Upper Canada and will continue to bring all of our pets here when needed. Thanks kindly 😊

Delighted to be back at Upper Canada Animal Hospital with our chow named Cody. For years these folks cared for our last best friend, from routine shots to major surgery. We have unbridled confidence in the service, attention and professionalism we've come to trust. Cody is in great hands.

Our 2 yr old chocolate Lab was seen at UCAH for a torn CCL. Upon our follow up consultation visit, the surgery was immediately scheduled and performed with the greatest care and expertise. Dr Turpel and his entire staff are incredibly kind, efficient and very professional. They take time for consultations and demonstrate outstanding communication skills, both pre & post operation. I highly recommend this hospital for your pet’s health care needs. They will be taken care of with empathy and respect, as well as the entire family. 💓.

Dr.Ross was amazing. He took the time to go through everything to narrow down exactly what is wrong with my pup. Not very often do you talk about how good a vet is but he is by far one of the best truly cares about the animal but also understands and is realistic. The front office staff are amazing and so good at remembering little details about your family and pups life that you swear you’re part of the fam. Henry (my pup) loves them and all the pets he gets at every visit

In early September of 2022, our 10 year old Australian Shepherd had a lame leg that wasn't going away as it had in the past. Following a few assessments from a couple of vets in Toronto, it was confirmed that she required CCL surgery. We were given a list of 5 hospitals in Toronto. After calling and 'interviewing' all of them, we were not impressed with any. After doing our own research, we decided to give the Upper Canada Animal Hospital a call. From the first call, with a very comprehensive and patient receptionist, we knew that our little Pebble would be in good hands. Dr. Turpel was extremely thorough in explaining the step-by-step process and setting our minds at ease for our dog's first surgery (outside of spaying). The support team was great at following up and sending updates while our dog was at the facility overnight. The detailed 'homework' guide made it very clear how to manage post-surgery physio with our dog as well. The service and staff were amazing and we would definitely recommend this hospital. Worth the drive from Toronto for sure! Thanks again Upper Canada Animal Hospital!

Over the past couple of years, our 15 year old male Chihuahua, Pepsi, had developed a cough that started out as being infrequent and manageable. Recently however, it was becoming more and more regular to the point that it caused us serious concern. We took him to the Upper Canada Animal Hospital where he was examined by Dr. Rossi. Dr. Rossi determined that Pepsi's heart was enlarged and likely causing pressure on his trachea which was contributing to the coughing fits. Given his age and the diagnosis, the outlook wasn't good, but Dr. Rossi provided us with several options, one of them being to put him to sleep given the severity of his condition. My wife and I opted however to try a medication that was suggested in hopes that it might improve things. It was explained to us that there was really only a slim chance of success but we decided to try. Sadly, things didn't go as we hoped and we had to put Pepsi to sleep a few days later. My wife, daughter and I would like to say that the care and compassion shown to us by Dr. Rossi and the entire staff helped us through this very sad time. Dr. Rossi is a truly professional and dedicated veterinarian who clearly cares about both his patients and their owners on an equal basis and is very up front about his diagnosis and the practical options that are available. To Dr. Rossi and staff, please accept our heartfelt thanks for making a sad situation a little bit better.

My big boy Cooper was seen for an assessment and then underwent a surgical procedure. The care that this clinic gives to your pet is Absolutely incredible. Not only did I feel well looked after as the owner, I felt safe leaving my dog with them without hesitation. They sent me a message post op with Cooper to decrease my own stressors and provided multiple phone call updates on how he was doing; and, even allowed for extra calls and check ins if needed by myself to see how Cooper was doing without question. This clinic is outstanding with their care towards animals and help you understand what is going on at a level that, as an owner, you can comprehend. They give a very detailed discharge with instructions on how to care for your animal and allow for you to ask questions at anytime with a phone call to the clinic. I would highly recommend this clinic to all pet owners as the professionalism is beyond belief. Each and every staff member within the clinic is very positive, happy, and makes for a great overall feeling once you walk through their front door. This is one of the most amazing vet's I have been to throughout my life as a dog/animal owner. I greatly appreciate the care we received and continue to receive from Dr. Turpel himself and his team. Thank you for all that you have done this far. You are all incredible. Thank you.

We brought our dog Toby to the Upper Canada Animal Hospital because we had heard great things from friends and they highly recommended them to us. Just from our consultation, they put me at ease, they explained the procedure step by step, gave me a visual of what was going to happen. They were very supportive and caring. The environment was very welcoming and positive. The communication before and after the procedure was exceptional! Much appreciated! 😊 I was also thoroughly impressed when I picked up my dog, I was given a personal folder for Toby with his picture as well as an in depth explanation of his condition, procedure, and recovery. I want to thank Dr. Turpel and his amazing team for making Toby’s experience so amazing, with less fear and anxiety and for my family as well. Thank you for your expertise, kindness and passion you show to your patients. Upper Canada Animal Hospital has now become Toby’s home.

The staff are kind and caring individuals. They quickly responded to any and all questions and concerns I had following my dog’s CCL surgery. Whenever we came in for appointments they made us feel welcome and were very loving and patient with my somewhat enthusiastic Sadie Sue. She was always happy to go and very reluctant to leave. If we weren’t happy with our own vet, we would hands down have switched to UCAH. Thank you for everything.

We had the best experience at UCAH and we are very thankful with Dr Turpel and his team. Our 3yr dog Charlie was seen for a torn CCL. We were looking for an specialist around Brampton and Mississauga with no luck so we decided to take him to UCAH. Charlie was happy and relax from day one with Dr Turpel. He took the time to go through everything to narrow down exactly what is wrong and the surgery. The surgery was immediately scheduled and performed with the greatest care and professionalism. The documentation and information for the recovery and rehab for his surgery is clear and detailed. He called us the night of his surgery as he recovered from sedation, and told us how he was doing. After surgery, we picked up Charlie and his team was great, loving and caring. His team reached out to us the following days after we picked up Charlie to ensure he was recovering appropriately. Dr Turpel, answered my emails with concerns and followed up about Charlies recovery weekly. We highly recommend Dr Turpel and his team. Thank you all for taking care of Charlie.

We had a wonderful experience at Upper Canada Animal Hospital today. Dr. Rossi saw our cat Eddy and had him in same day for surgery on an infected wound. He stayed late to explain everything to us when we arrived to pick him up and his team members were lovely. Thank you for everything!

I was referred to Dr. Turpel by my regular vet (and family, friends, & our dog trainers) for my GSD's suspected cruciate injury(s). I quickly understood why everyone in my network chose him. Everyone I interacted with at UCAH was on the same page, knew my dog's information/file and were very thorough with our prep for a surgical consult/same day surgery. My GSD is anxious and slow to warm up to people, especially vets who typically just go right to assessing her. Our consult at UCAH was the first experience we've had where the vet (Dr. Turpel) & staff were aware of how to interact with an anxious dog. They treated her (and us) with compassion, patience, and understanding. It was the most confident & trusting I've ever felt with a vet/team. While my dog's case was not straight forward and she did not require surgery after all, Dr. Turpel clearly communicated each component/decision making process behind her care and provided us with a summary and next steps. He called us the night of her consult as she recovered from sedation, his team reached out to us the Saturday & Monday to ensure my dog was recovering appropriately, and he called to discuss radiology reports/any concerns we had. I can't say enough about the compassion, understanding, and clear continuity of care provided to us. If in the future my dog ends up requiring a surgical intervention, they will be my first call and I know I will be at ease with my dog in their care. Thank you all again, UCAH is definitely the gold standard of care.

My experience with Upper Canada Animal was hospital was perfect. My dog had knee surgery and is healing beautifully. Dr Turpel is wonderful- precise, communicative, educational and very thorough. The front of house staff and the vet techs are all very professional and accommodating. The entire process was perfectly smooth. I travelled from Toronto for my dogs surgery and if she ever requires additional orthopaedic surgery I will 100% return. The price is fair and the care is wonderful!

We had a great experience with Upper Canada Animal Hospital and especially Dr. Turpal and the staff that assisted our dog. Our dog had a cruciate tear that was surgically fixed, which required him to have an overnight stay. We received updates before surgery, immediately after surgery and 4 more times until we picked him up the next day. We even received a follow up call from the surgeon and hospital the following day to ensure our dog was adjusting well at home. They are very attentive with the care they provide and highly knowledgeable, we never had a question unanswered. We were provided with all the verbal and written information we could have asked for and most importantly, they cared for our dog like their own.
